July 24 Morning Edition

CHRIS LADD
— Resignation letter  (DIERSEN: As the GOPUSA Illinois Editor and as a DuPage County Republican Precinct Committeeman, I anxiously await official responses to Ladd from York Township Republican Central Committee Chairman Anthony Cuzzone, DuPage County Republican Central Committee Chairman Brian Krajewski, Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider, etc.  As of 10:30 AM today, Sunday, July 24, 2016, 867 comments had been posted concerning his resignation.)
https://goplifer.com/2016/07/22/resignation-letter/
(FROM THE POSTING: Postscript – Needless to say, the response to the letter has been stunning and overwhelming. I want to express my gratitude to the people who have shared so many kind thoughts. It was my intention to reply to each of the emails I’ve received, but I was snowed under by late last night and they keep piling up. Some of the warmest regards have come from right here in suburban Chicago. When I posted this letter I was prepared to face some anger here at home from fellow Republicans. Nothing of the kind has materialized. The only official response from the local GOP so far has been support, for which I am immensely grateful. It gives me hope. We may all come out of this debacle in better condition.)

— When Trump vs. Clinton pits friend against friend – Mary Schmich  (DIERSEN: What can you say about your friends?  None of my friends are anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.)

— Naperville police union leader: ‘Take your time before rushing to judgment’ – Michael Caruso, President, Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #42, Naperville (DIERSEN: The more that you do to defend and advance the Republican Party platform, the Illinois Republican Party platform, and the Milton Township Republican Central Committee resolution against video gambling, the more harshly that you are judged by those who are anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America longer than their ancestors.)

The more successful that you are, the more of the following that you are: Protestant, conservative, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owner, and/or if your ancestors have been in America for a long time, the more that Mego hates you and wants others to hate you.)

— Donald Trump says France, others hit by terror may face ‘extreme vetting’  (DIERSEN: QUESTION: Who does not want to be vetted? ANSWER: Those who have something to hide.  Many millions do not apply for jobs with the federal government because they cannot pass a routine background investigation.  GAO hired me in 1980 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, younger person, or veteran who would take the job.  IRS hired me in 1971 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, or veteran who would take the job.  The Post Office hired me in 1966 because it could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, or veteran who would take the job.)

CRAIN’S CHICAGO BUSINESS

http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20160723/ISSUE01/307239992/trumps-running-mate-has-a-business-success-story-of-his-own-to-tell
(FROM THE ARTICLE: You’re likely to hear plenty about the Indiana economy between now and November. Right after his religious faith and his fondness for Ronald Reagan, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence’s go-to talking point is his economic record. “This economy is nowhere near the best we can do,” he said at the Republican National Convention, where he was introduced as GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s running mate. “It’s just the best they can do. In Indiana, we prove every day you can build a growing economy on balanced budgets and low taxes. Indiana is a state that works.” While it’s not quite the Hoosier Miracle, Pence has some things to crow about. Since he took office in 2013, Indiana has the best job growth at 9.9 percent among its Midwestern neighbors Michigan (8.6 percent), Wisconsin (4.9 percent), Ohio (4.5 percent) and Illinois (4 percent). Nationally, job growth was 6.7 percent during that time, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data. Indiana’s unemployment rate is in the middle of the pack at 5 percent, compared with 4.2 percent in Wisconsin and 6.4 percent in Illinois. The question, however, is how much credit can Pence claim.)

http://wqad.com/2016/07/23/local-republicans-move-forward-into-general-election-following-rnc/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Rock Island Republicans will spend time and money from now until November campaigning for not only GOP nominee, Donald J. Trump, but also local candidates – such as Brandi McGuire for State Representative 72nd District and Tony McCombie for State Representative District 71. “We’re raising money,” said Jack Boccarossa, Rock Island Republican, “One of the things we’ll do is then donate that money to our candidates and help them with their expenses,” he said.)

CATHOLIC CULTURE
— JULY 14, 2016 FLASHBACK: BEYOND TRAGIC: U.S. Catholic voters lean toward Clinton, survey shows  (DIERSEN: The Democrat Party platform is extremely anti-Catholic.)
https://www.catholicculture.org/news/headlines/index.cfm?storyid=28837
(FROM THE ARTICLE: American Catholic voters lean strongly toward Hillary Clinton in this year’s presidential contest, according to a new Pew Forum survey. The Pew poll found that Clinton held a 56-39% advantage over Donald Trump among Catholic voters. That 17% margin was markedly different from the results of a similar poll in the last presidential race, when then-Senator Barack Obama was virtually even with Mitt Romney among Catholic voters in June 2012. However, Clinton’s margin among Catholic voters was entirely attributable to a huge (77-16%) advantage among Hispanic Catholics. Among white Catholics, Trump had a slight (50-46) edge. Among all voters surveyed, Pew found that Clinton had a 51-42% lead. Trump enjoyed his best results among white Evangelical voters, who gave him a massive 78-17% advantage; Clinton did best with black Protestants, who broke even more dramatically (89-8%) in her favor. Among voters who attend church services weekly, Pew found that Trump had a slight advantage: 49- 45%. But among Catholics who attend Mass weekly, Clinton led by 57-38%. When asked which questions they considered most important in the presidential campaign, Catholics provided answers that did not differ significantly from the overall national sample.)
