While both Steinhoff and I are CPAs, Certified Fraud Examiners, and Certified Government Financial Managers, I am also a Certified Internal Auditor, Financial Services Auditor, and Forensic Accountant and a licensed CPA. While Steinhoff served as a National President of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA), I only served on the Executive Committee of AGA’s Chicago Chapter for 13 years. I transferred from IRS to GAO when I was 31 years old in 1980. Steinhoff had no interest in me even though a) I had worked for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 Levels, currently $99,069-$112,280/year, b) I had earned an MBA in 1976, c) I had passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, and d) I had almost completed the requirements for a master’s degree in accounting. I completed those requirements in 1980 and I subsequently earned a master’s degree in financial markets and trading in 1997.
