(FROM THE ARTICLE: A state representative candidate who accused the Downers Grove Park District of violating her free speech rights by limiting where she could campaign in a public park has settled her lawsuit against the district. Laura Hois announced the settlement Wednesday. Federal court records indicate the case was dismissed by agreement June 9. In the agreement, the park district did not admit to any wrongdoing and agreed to pay Hois $32,500. Each side was responsible for paying their own costs and attorneys’ fees. The director of the park district could not be reached for comment Wednesday. In July 2024, Hois was a candidate for the DuPage County Board when she went to a concert at Fishel Park in downtown Downers Grove to speak with concertgoers about her campaign. The Downers Grove Republican claimed in her lawsuit that a park district worker told her that she was not allowed to engage in political conversations unless she stayed in a designated 15-by-15-foot free speech zone.)

https://federalnewsnetwork.com/commentary/2026/07/one-year-later-my-layoff-from-the-federal-government-has-become-a-banishment/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In the year since my firing, I have experienced the full spectrum of emotions. Moments of excitement — interviews on “The Daily Show” and NPR — give way to anxiety and depression. Losing a professional identity is never easy, and watching former colleagues struggle to rebuild their lives is equally painful. Many, including myself, have applied for hundreds of jobs without a single offer. Some took service industry work after their unemployment checks ran out. Despite our grief and trauma, many of us still want to return to the State Department or another federal agency. But the path back does not exist. Most job postings now restrict applicants to “internal” only, bypassing a mechanism that would allow the Department to rehire fully vetted former employees at a lower cost to taxpayers. And other federal agencies are reluctant to hire people whom the administration previously fired. This is why we believe our firing was punitive, not a cost-saving measure. We are working with our local American Federation of Government Employees chapter to pursue legal remedies for reinstatement and urging Congress to pass legislation restoring our positions. The years of expertise that walked out the doors of the State Department and other executive branch agencies cannot be replaced by contractors, political appointees or artificial intelligence. Working for the federal government requires experts with deep institutional knowledge who will be there regardless of the outcome of future presidential elections. I left my hometown believing that public service was one of the highest callings an American could pursue. A year later, I still believe that. Washington just doesn’t seem to agree. . .Duffin is a Democratic candidate for Virginia’s 8th Congressional District.)

— America Has Eight Political Tribes. Which One Do You Belong to? DD: My critics/opponents demonize me, denigrate me, and condemn me as being a bad member of the Loyal Right.
https://www.nytimes.com/2026/07/20/opinion/voters-political-parties-coalitions.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Loyal Right remains enthusiastic about Mr. Trump and ready to turn out for Republicans in this year’s midterms, but its size — 18 percent of the electorate — makes it insufficient, on its own, for retaining a Republican majority. In lower-turnout elections like the ones this year and the partisan primaries we will have in 2028, the Loyal Left and the Loyal Right will be at their most powerful. Those voters show up when the others stay home. If you’re wondering why parties nominate candidates who are out on the extremes, it is often because of the voters who reliably participate in the process. Folks who are closer to the center will keep feeling let down or left out if they don’t throw their weight around, turning out in primaries as often as their more ideologically predictable peers. There’s nothing wrong, of course, with being a party loyalist, but it’s worth reminding ourselves that most of us don’t line up neatly with the platform of either of America’s two major parties. It’s also worth keeping in mind that there’s a reason Democrats range from the aforementioned democratic socialist Representative Ocasio-Cortez to the centrist Senator Elissa Slotkin. And why Republicans range from the moderate Senator Lisa Murkowski to the populist Representative Anna Paulina Luna. It may be more useful to think of our two parties as two coalitions. For now, at least, both have to accept some level of ideological incoherence in order to cobble together a majority.)

— China vs. India Isn’t as Simple as Merit vs. Caste Quotas. The Indian economy’s lag behind its neighbor can’t be explained by the practice of reservations. DD: What Caste were you born into? I had to work my way through college. Nevertheless, my critics/opponents have always outrageously, disgustingly, falsely, and unethically painted my parents as having been filthy rich. FED SMITH
— The Grass Isn’t Always Greener But Is Federal Salary Really That Bad? Before assuming a private sector salary is usually better, look beyond your federal salary. Federal retirement, FEHB, and job security make a big difference. DD: Ever since I became a federal employee when I was 18 in 1966, my critics/opponents have demonized me, denigrated me, and condemned me as being overpaid and getting employment benefits that are far too generous. Ever since I became a federal retiree when I was 49 in 1997, my critics/opponents have demonized me, denigrated me, and condemned me as getting a Civil Service Retirement System pension that is far too generous. Ever since I became a federal employee when I was 18 in 1966 and ever since I got married in 1978, my critics/opponents have demonized me, denigrated me, and condemned me for me and my wife getting a 72% health insurance premium subsidy. In my defense, I planned to work in the private sector, the automotive industry to be exact. But my high school friend asked me to join him to take the postal employment test in 1966. Because I passed, I was a part-time postal employee while I attended UIC 1966-1968 and NIU in 1969. I graduated from NIU in 1970 and accepted the only job offer that I got, to be the Retail Sales Manager in a Firestone Store, a job that not really require a college degree. I accepted a job offer from Oldsmobile in 1971, but Oldsmobile withdrew that offer saying it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint. My Firestone Store boss rudely fired me because I had accepted that offer. Because I had to have a job, I accepted a job offer that I got from IRS. I had taken and passed the Federal Service Entrance Examination while I was a NIU student. Potential employers saw me as being draft bait. They did not believe that my application for a financial hardship draft deferment to help support my mother and brother would be approved.
https://www.fedsmith.com/2026/07/15/are-federal-employees-underpaid/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: According to the Federal Salary Council’s FY 2024 analysis using Bureau of Labor Statistics data, General Schedule employees earned an estimated 24.72% less than private-sector workers in comparable occupations. That’s an improvement from the previous year’s estimated 27.54% gap, thanks in part to larger pay raises in 2023 and 2024, but it is still a significant difference. . .Salary is only one part of what employers provide. Federal employees also receive retirement benefits, health insurance, paid leave, and workplace protections that have real financial value—even though they do not appear on an earnings statement. When economists compare total compensation rather than salary alone, the gap between federal and private employment often narrows considerably. . .Consider a GS-13 Step 10 employee in the Washington, DC area earning roughly $158,322 who retires after 30 years of service. That employee could receive a substantial lifetime pension, continue Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) coverage into retirement if eligible, receive the FERS retirement supplement before becoming eligible for Social Security, and continue drawing income from a well-funded TSP account. Someone leaving federal service midway through a career may receive a much smaller deferred pension and may need substantially higher private-sector earnings to replace the long-term value of those retirement benefits.)

— Civil service promotions in Bangladesh draw criticism over alleged bias and vetting gaps. DD: Federal employees in America who are the following have no Civil Service protections: conservative, Republican, White, male, older, non-veteran, German American, and/or have ancestors who have been in America for a long time. Unions provide some protection. But GAO did not unionize until 2007. If GAO had been unionized when I transferred from IRS in 1980, my Democrat GAO superiors might not have been able to take the many big adverse actions against me that they did. My Democrat GAO superiors a) forced me to retire when I was 49 in 1997, b) always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance, c) delayed my promotions and never promoted me beyond GS-13, and d) forced me to take a $23,699/year (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. But even though I was a union member at the time, a) my Democrat IRS superiors never promoted me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and disallowed my travel vouchers in 1974 and b) my Democrat Post Office superiors forced me to resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968. That was because I was not a Democrat, minority, female, and/or veteran. For Democrats, the federal government exists to hire, retain, and promote Democrats who are minority, female, younger, veteran, non-Protestant, non-German American, and/or have ancestors who have not been in America for a long time. Virtually all federal employees are Democrats who are one, many, most, if not virtually all of the aforesaid. All of my coworkers who my Democrat superiors in the federal government promoted over me were Democrats who a) had less education than I had, had less work experience than I had, had no professional certification or fewer than I had, and/or had no professional license like the one I had and/or b) were minority, female, younger, veteran, non-Protestant, non-German American, and/or had ancestors who had not been in America for a long time.

It was being the Retail Sales Manager for the Firestone Store in Chicago Heights. But the job did not really require a college degree. To “learn the business,” I was required to dismount, mount, and balance many tires, pump lots of gasoline, change lots of engine oil and filters, change batteries, deliver major appliances to homes, etc. My Chicago Heights store boss would never had hired me, but his boss had assigned me to him. He did not have a college degree. He refused to let me start until after I passed a 2-week probationary period in the Firestone Store in Gary, Indiana. He disapproved of my avoiding the Vietnam War draft. He disapproved of my being Protestant, my being German American, my having ancestors who had been in America since 1844, and my living in Crete. Under him, I saw that my Firestone career was bleak if not nonexistent. Consequently, I accepted a job offer from Oldsmobile. The money I earned helped me a) buy a new Corvette in 1971, b) pay for four graduate evening business courses at Loyola in 1972, and c) buy a new townhome in University Park in 1972.

— What Recent Court Decisions Mean for Federal Employee Job Security. DD: Because Democrats run the federal government, federal employees who are the following have no Civil Service protections: conservative, Republican, White, male, older, nonveteran, Protestant, German American, and/or have ancestors who have been in America for a long time. Have adverse actions been taken against you “for cause?” My critics/opponents have always hinted/implied/argued/shouted that GAO forced me to retire “for cause” when I was 49 in 1997. They stress the adverse actions that my GAO superiors had taken against me previously. They had always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance. They had delayed my promotions and never promoted me beyond GS-13. They had forced me to take a $23,699/year (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. Previously, my IRS superiors had never promoted me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and disallowed my travel vouchers in 1974. Previously, my Post Office superiors had forced me to resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968. My critics/opponents have always ignored/dismissed/belittled the fact a) that Democrats run GAO, Democrats despise/hate Republicans, and I have always been a Republican, b) that all my GAO, IRS, and Post Office superiors who took the aforesaid actions against me were Democrats, c) that I had been an active member in a class action lawsuit that charged them with reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation since 1988, and d) that I had ever-increasingly complained about their political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation. My critics/opponents have always hinted/implied/argued/shouted that I must have been guilty of “gross malfeasance or negligence” or even worse things because the many big aforesaid adverse actions were taken against me even though I had a) earned job-related professional certifications in 1997, 1996, 1994, 1990, 1981, and 1979, b) earned job-related master’s degrees in 1997, 1981, and 1976, and c) earned a job-related professional license in 1981.

— Where are Darren Bailey and the Illinois GOP?
https://wgntv.com/politics-3/where-is-darren-bailey-and-the-illinois-gop/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A sexual harassment scandal. Crime concerns. There is no shortage of issues Illinois republicans could pounce on; but other than fanning the flames on social media and issuing press releases, they’ve been fairly quiet. Republican candidate for governor Darren Bailey hasn’t held a press conference in more than a month in the Chicago region. His team posted a picture of a meet-and-greet at a Pilsen restaurant last week that featured 12 people in the frame. We’re a little more than three months before the election. “I do think people are making these points; but they’re making them in the silos,” said Richard Porter, a former Republican National Committeeman from Illinois. “I think there’s a mistake people make. We’re online so much. You’re connecting with people all over the state and it’s really cool; but I think the thing we need to realize is the algorithm drives us to meet the people that think the way we think. “They’re not introducing us to people who are undecided or unaware of what our issues are.” The stealth approach to campaigning is also surprising given that Bailey’s opponent — billionaire incumbent Gov. JB Pritzker — has a campaign war chest of more than $25 million compared to Bailey’s less than $1 million raised. Traditionally, candidates who are low on money clamor for the publicity of photo ops and interviews with local media. Bailey’s campaign said the farmer-turned-politician is currently focusing on energizing supporters downstate and will spend ample time in the Chicago region soon. The campaign contends voters aren’t yet paying attention to the November race. Bailey lost to Pritzker by nearly 13 points in 2022. Analysts said his past strategy of focusing on downstate voters and appealing to Trump supporters, put simply, couldn’t overcome the democratic vote in Northeast Illinois. They suggested that he needs to win over swing suburban voters. Previously, Bailey said he got the message this time around. He made it known that he and his wife were renting a condo in Chicago. He showed up to make an appeal to city voters during the public comments section of a City Council meeting in May, where he apologized for previously referring to Chicago as a “hellhole.” Bailey has also downplayed his previous support of Trump and acknowledged his pro-life beliefs won’t change state abortion laws. His running mate, Aaron Del Mar, is from Cook County and frequently makes media appearances. Bailey has said he would work to repeal the SAFE-T Act if elected governor. However, it’s unclear how he would do that, given Democrats hold super-majorities in both chambers of the legislature. He’s also repeatedly criticized Democrats — and judges — for being too lenient on people accused of committing crimes. But Bailey hasn’t driven that message home — and distinguished GOP and democratic strategies — with news conferences and photo ops at crime scenes. Porter sees that as a missed opportunity: “There is, on the left, there is sometimes an excusing for this violence that we on the right reject,” Porter told WGN-TV. “The people who are the subject of the violence, they don’t want to — they share the view — they’re available to us [as voters] to understand crime has to stop. We should not have a laissez-faire attitude toward criminals.”)

DD: While I worked for the Democrats who ran the federal government for almost 30 years, I never refused to carry out any order that they gave me, including their ever-increasing orders to give more and more and more preference to my Democrat subordinates who were minority, female, younger, veteran, disabled, non-Protestant, non-German American, had ancestors who had not been in America for a long time, and/or had performance problems. All of those who they assigned me to supervise were many, most, if not virtually all of the aforesaid. But that was not enough for my Democrat superiors. DD: For Democrats, the federal government exists to hire, retain, and promote Democrats who are minority, female, younger, veteran, non-Protestant, non-German American, and/or have ancestors who have not been in America for a long time. According to my Democrat Post Office, IRS, and GAO superiors, I was never a suitable federal employee because I refused to become a Democrat. Because of that, to get rid of me, they ever-increasingly took more and bigger adverse actions against me. Because I had none of the aforesaid demographics, they ever-increasingly used Affirmative Action, DEI, and the Veterans Preference to get rid of me. The final straw was when I became an active member in a class action lawsuit that charged them with reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation when I was 40 in 1988. To get rid of me, they a) got rid of the GAO manager who had arranged for my transfer from IRS in 1980 and had finally been able to assign me to audits of IRS and to promote me in 1986, b) threw me off audits of IRS for the rest of my GAO career, c) assigned me to a Democrat veteran who gave me very unfair performance expectations and a very unfair performance appraisal, and d) ranked me at the bottom of my coworkers for pay-for-performance.

https://www.chicagobusiness.com/nonprofits-philanthropy/ccb-candid-candace-gary-sinise-veterans-salute-20260717/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: More than 7,000 patriotic fans packed Cantigny Park in Wheaton on July 11 for actor Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band’s largest concert to date. Rockin’ For Our Vets: America 250 was a record-breaking benefit for the West Suburban Foundation for Disabled Veterans. The concert raised awareness and support for the nonprofit’s mission of serving disabled veterans and their families. Guests began arriving early, filling the sprawling Parade Field as military displays, interactive exhibits, food vendors and the First Division Museum welcomed families throughout the day. The century-old Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band added another stirring patriotic touch to the afternoon’s ceremonies. The festivities officially kicked off with an America 250 program featuring distinguished veterans and inspiring guest speakers before the evening’s musical performances. Among the evening’s special guests was Benjamin Patton, grandson of General George S. Patton and founder of the Patton Veterans Project. He shared his personal story and introduced a moving video about his family’s military legacy, which spans generations and dates back to the American Revolution. Vietnam War hero and former Secret Service agent Capt. William “Hawk” Albracht shared his remarkable journey as one of the most decorated veterans of the Vietnam War. Former Army POW Jessica Lynch, whose story drew the nation’s attention during the Iraq War, was just 19 years old in 2003 when she was captured after her convoy was ambushed and rescued by U.S. Special Operations. Country star HunterGirl (Hunter Wolkonowski), a fan favorite from “American Idol,” kicked off the evening at 6 p.m. with a high-energy performance that had the crowd on its feet and set the perfect tone for the night’s festivities. An hour later, the moment thousands had been waiting for arrived as Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band took the stage. Their signature blend of classic rock, country hits and patriotic favorites transformed Cantigny’s Parade Field into one giant celebration. Fans sang along, waved American flags and danced well into the evening as Sinise, who has spent decades supporting America’s military community, delivered a performance that celebrated service, sacrifice and patriotism as much as it did the music. Leading the effort behind the event were Michelle Senatore, co-founder and president of the West Suburban Foundation for Disabled Veterans; U.S. Navy veteran and volunteer Staci Boyer; and a dedicated team of volunteers. Through programs that provide financial assistance, housing and transportation support, service dogs, mental health services and other essential resources, the nonprofit has become a vital lifeline for disabled veterans and their families. The organization’s mission is to ensure that those who have sacrificed for our country receive the support they deserve long after their military service has ended. With another successful event in the books, the West Suburban Foundation for Disabled Veterans is already looking ahead. Planning has begun for the return of Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band to Cantigny in 2027, continuing what organizers hope will become one of the region’s signature annual tributes to veterans.)

— Career success. Measures of career success include salary, promotions, professional certifications, and professional licenses. According to my critics/opponents, my career working for IRS 1971-1980 and GAO 1980-1997 was an abject failure and they blame that on me. The Democrats who ran IRS hired me as a GS-7, currently $56,409/year, Revenue Officer when I was 22 in 1971 because I had earned a bachelor’s degree in business and passed the Federal Service Entrance Examination when I was 21. They promoted me to GS-9, currently $68,999/year, when I was 23, to GS-11, currently $83,482/year, when I was 24, and to GS-12, currently $100,059/year, when I was 25. Because they took adverse actions against me when I was 25 and 29 and made it clear that they would never promote me to GS-13, currently $118,984/year even though I had earned an MBA when II was 27 and passed the CPA examination on my first attempt when I was 30, I took a $23,699/year (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO when I was 31. The Democrats who ran GAO finally promoted me to GS-13 when I was 38 after I had earned a master’s degree in accounting when I was 31 and passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt and became a licensed CPA when I was 32. With step increases, my GS-13 salary increased to $154,684/year in today’s dollars when I was 49. After I transferred, I earned professional certifications when I was 32 (internal auditing), 41 (fraud examination), 45 (government financial management), 47 (financial services auditing), and 48 (forensic accounting) and a master’s degree (financial markets and trading) when I was 48. My superiors forced me to retire when I was 49 in 1997. My critics/opponents have always argued that because I had the aforesaid degrees, professional certifications, and professional license, I should have been promoted to GS-13 much faster than I was and then to GS-14, GS-15, and Senior Executive Service (SES), currently $197,200/year, before I was 40. They blame me for that. They ignore/dismiss/belittle the fact a) that my Democrat IRS superiors got rid of the IRS manager who had promoted me when I was 23, 23, and 25 and b) that my Democrat GAO superiors got rid of the GAO manager who had arranged my transfer from IRS to GAO and was finally able to assign me to audits of IRS and promote me. According to my critics/opponents, I am 100% responsible for my not getting promoted to GS-13 sooner, for my never being promoted beyond GS-13, and for my being forced to retire when I was 49. I agree with them, but absolutely not for the reasons that they hint/imply/argue/shout. They know full-well that Democrats believe that the federal government exists to hire, retain, and promote Democrats who are minority, female, younger, and/or veteran and that I am none of the aforesaid. They know full well that federal employees who are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran have no Civil Service protections. They know full-well that I would have made SES before I was 40 if I had been a Democrat, minority, female, and/or veteran, b) if I had not complained about their political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, and age discrimination, and c) if I had not officially became an active member in a class action lawsuit that charged my GAO superiors with the aforesaid when I was 40. – Dave Diersen

I should write about my many Democrat Post Office, IRS, and GAO superiors who were veterans and the many big adverse actions that they took against me. They used my avoiding the draft with deferments against me viciously. They blamed Republicans for America losing the Vietnam War. — Disparate impact. DD: Those who passed tests and examinations with me were overwhelming White males. Democrats blame their problems on disparate impact. Hiring, retention, and promotion requirements have a disparate impact against Democrats who are minority, female, younger, and/or veteran. The Democrats who ran the Post Office in 1966, IRS in 1971, and GAO in 1980 hired me because they could not find a qualified Democrat who was minority, female, younger, or veteran who would take the job. I would not have survived as a federal employee for almost 30 years if I had not a) passed the postal employment test when I was 17 in 1966, b) passed the Federal Entrance Examination when I was 21, c) earned a bachelor’s degree in business when I was 21, d) earned an MBA when I was 27, e) passed the CPA examination on my first attempt when I was 30, f) earned a master’s degree in accounting when I was 31, g) passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt when I was 32, h) became a licensed CPA when I was 32, i) earned four more job-related professional certifications when I was 41, 45, 47, and 48, and j) earned a master’s degree in finance when I was 48. All of my coworkers who my Democrat superiors in the federal government promoted over me were Democrats who a) were minority, female, younger than me, and/or veteran and b) had less education than I had, had less work experience than I had, had no professional certification or fewer than I had, and/or had no professional license like the one I had. They have always been furious that while I was a union member when I was a postal employee for almost 3 years 1966-1969 and then an IRS employee for almost 9 years 1971-1980, my salary increased from $19.57/hour to $113,402/year in today’s dollars. In my defense, during that time, I earned a bachelor’s degree in business, I earned an MBA, I passed the CPA examination on my first attempt, and I almost completed the requirements for a master’s degree in accounting. In today’s dollars, my IRS salary was $56,409/year when I was 22 in 1971, $68,999/year when I was 23, $83,482/year when I was 24, $100,059/year when I was 25, and $113,402/year when I was 31. In today’s dollars, my GAO salary was $89,703/year when I was 31, $118,984/year when I was 38, and $154,682/year when I was 49. I earned a master’s degree in accounting when I was 31. I passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt and became a licensed CPA when I was 32. I earned four more job-related professional certifications when I was 41, 45, 47, and 48. I earned a master’s degree in finance when I was 48.

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The average federal employee salary is $112,456/year and has increased dramatically over the last decade and is more than 50% higher than the average salary reported in 2017. While annual pay raises have contributed to this growth, they are only part of the story. . .One reason average federal salaries are relatively high is that federal employees are older and generally more experienced than workers in the overall U.S. labor force. This distinction is important. According to OPM’s latest workforce data, the median age of federal civilian employees is 47 years old. By comparison, the median age of the overall U.S. labor force is about 42 years old. This means the federal workforce is generally older and more experienced than the workforce as a whole. Workers typically earn more as they gain experience, move into supervisory positions, and acquire specialized skills. An organization with a larger share of mid-career and senior employees will have a higher average salary than one that relies heavily on entry-level workers.)

— DD: To get more votes from younger people, Democrat and RINO leaders ever-increasingly blame older people for the problems that younger people have. It is called age discrimination. As I got older, my Democrat superiors in the federal government ever-increasingly blamed me for the problems that my subordinates had. All those who they assigned me to supervise were Democrats who were younger than me and were minority, female, veteran, disabled, and/or had performance problems. My Republican critics/opponents stress that I did not get involved in Republican politics until I was 49 years old. They ignore/dismiss/belittle/badmouth that I worked for Democrats before then.

CRAIN’S CHICAGO BUSINESS
— Congressional hearing on UIC med school veers from antisemitism to DEI, gender care
https://www.chicagobusiness.com/health-care/ccb-uic-medical-school-antisemitism-congress-20260715/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Dr. Enrico Benedetti, along with officials from the University of California Los Angeles and University of California San Francisco, was initially accused of being soft on antisemitism on campus since the Trump administration took office, but the debate about the state of medical education has shifted since the congressional probe began last year. The Committee on Education & the Workforce began investigating the colleges in light of “complaints of severe antisemitism” at the schools, which committee Chairman Tim Walberg, R-Michigan, said stemmed from an activist infrastructure the universities had constructed. Walberg accused the schools of teaching that incited antisemitism, including “labeling of Jews as white, and therefore privileged and oppressors.” In his opening comments, Walberg went on to say the schools have integrated DEI into their admissions decisions and curricula, promoting courses that have nothing to do with medical science, but seek to turn medical students into “far left activists.” In opening testimony, Benedetti addressed the questions over antisemitism at the medical school, which has campuses in Chicago, Peoria and Rockford, saying the school has taken steps to better deal with religious and other bigotry. Benedetti testified the medical school had discontinued an internal communication channel that had become a forum for inappropriate and offensive commentary; changed its leadership structure to ensure clear lines of accountability, in which a new vice dean of education will now have oversight over student complaints regarding misconduct; and is updating the curriculum to better ensure that all of its physicians are trained to effectively treat patients from all communities. Benedetti was joined by Dr. Sam Hawgood, chancellor at UCSF, and Dr. Steve Dubinett, dean of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Roger Mitchell Jr., president of the National Medical Association, the organization serving Black physicians, also testified. Benedetti and the other two school officials testified that their universities do not use race as a factor in determining acceptance into medical school. “The college’s primary goal is simple: to train excellent physicians who provide the best care to all patients, regardless of their own background or the background of those they serve,” Benedetti testified. “We provide a medical education that focuses on science, evidence-based medicine and the professional competencies required to care for patients.” The hearing moved away from antisemitism to diversity, with Walberg stating that medical education ought to be based on merit and “organic diversity” versus “merit flexibility with manufactured diversity.” He asked each dean whether students of different races were treated differently and whether students are chosen on the basis of race. Benedetti testified that race is not considered “when we choose the best student.” However, Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-N.C., said UI Medical College still states it is “committed to diversity and inclusion,” concluding that it was “clear that DEI is still the core mission” of the school. The ranking Democrat on the committee, Rep. Robert Scott of Virginia, said that while the committee had begun by investigating antisemitism, it became a discussion of DEI, as Republicans “abandoned good faith efforts to end discrimination,” turning a blind eye to other members of their party who actively promote bigotry. He defended the role of DEI in medical education, saying teaching about diversity is how to combat discrimination. Schools need to teach future doctors “to recognize and confront bias,” he said. “Inclusion isn’t just fair, it’s more effective medicine,” Scott said. Gender care at UI Health. Questioning turned to transgender care when Rep. Robert Onder, R-Mo., noted the Illinois university’s health system, UI Health, had suspended gender-affirming surgeries for minors in August 2025. Benedetti testified the system had “immediately” followed President Donald Trump’s executive order calling for a halt to all gender surgical procedures for minors. However, Benedetti could not answer whether minor patients could still receive puberty blockers or “cross-sex hormones” at UI Health, which Onder said should also be abolished for minors. “UI Health remains steadfast in its mission to provide compassionate, inclusive and patient-centered care,” the health system said in an emailed statement today. “The hospital suspended gender-affirming surgical procedures for patients under age 19, effective August 1, 2025. We have made no additional changes to our services.”)

— Sunny Hostin calls Lindsey Graham’s sister a ‘DEI’ hire, questions her qualifications. DD: According to Google AI, “Relevant work experience means any past professional or academic activity that equips you with the transferable skills, knowledge, and abilities needed to perform a specific target job.” GAO Audits IRS. To force me to take a $23,699/year (21%) pay cut to transfer from IRS to GAO when I was 31 in 1980, my Democrat GAO superiors outrageously, disgustingly, and unethically ignored/dismissed/belittled/badmouthed a) what I had learned working for IRS’s Collection Division for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 Levels, currently $100,059-$113,402/year, b) my having passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979, c) my earning an MBA from Loyola in 1976, and d) the fact that much of what I did for IRS was similar to what I would do for GAO. They kept me off audits of IRS’s Collection Division for all of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO but did let me work on audits of IRS’s Criminal Investigation Division for 3 years. They would not have wasted my knowledge of IRS if I had been a Democrat, female, or veteran.

(FROM THE ARTICLE: “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin criticized South Carolina on Wednesday over Republican Gov. Henry McMaster’s appointment of Darline Graham to replace her late brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham, arguing the state’s first female senator lacked the political experience needed to represent its residents in Washington. Hostin branded the appointment an example of diversity-based hiring and nepotism after co-host Joy Behar called Graham’s selection “the very definition of DEI.” “Correct, correct. It’s everything that the Republican Party stands against. Everything!” Hostin said. “It’s DEI. Nepotism. All these things thrown in together.” Hostin also attacked South Carolina for reaching the milestone through an appointment rather than the election of a female candidate. “She’ll be the first woman to be a U.S. senator in South Carolina in the history of the state, and I think that that’s just — it’s just fundamentally wrong that South Carolina just couldn’t elect a woman and this is the only way that it was done,” Hostin said. The former federal prosecutor questioned Graham’s qualifications, referring to her as a certified optician and arguing that her professional background did not prepare her for the Senate. “I think the experience does matter,” Hostin said. “While she is a certified optician and while she has done great work in that field, I don’t think that she should be representing the people of South Carolina in the U.S. Senate. I just don’t.” Behar agreed and argued that public office required specialized knowledge. “It’s not like taking over your mother’s job at McDonald’s,” Behar said. “You’re in government. You have to know what you’re doing.” Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, who served as the White House Director of Strategic Communications in President Donald Trump’s first term, pushed back, noting that Graham would serve as a caretaker and comparing the appointment to California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s selection of Laphonza Butler after the death of Sen. Dianne Feinstein. “You guys are putting too much stock in who’s currently in Congress,” Griffin said. “Yeah, you got a point,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg said. Hostin tied the appointment to reports that War Secretary Pete Hegseth had blocked several proposed promotions of Navy officers, including women and people of color. “I feel like our government is fundamentally broken,” Hostin said. “I just — I disagree with this.” . . . Darline Graham, a native of Central, S.C., has dedicated her career to public service,” the spokesperson added. “She has served the people of South Carolina for nearly 30 years, and the governor believes she is the right person to finish her brother’s work.” Graham has served as commissioner of the South Carolina Commission for the Blind since 2019, working to expand employment and independent-living opportunities for residents who are blind or have low vision, according to the governor’s office. She previously held roles with Clemson University, the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce and the South Carolina Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The discussion about U.S. border security focuses on mass migration and foreigners who circumvent our legal immigration system, but those aren’t the only valid concerns. What are the espionage risks to U.S. national security posed by legal immigration? First, it must be understood that the vetting scheme employed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement is broadly inadequate from a counterintelligence viewpoint. ICE looks more for criminals and immigration fraudsters than foreign spies. The espionage threat from legal immigrants can be broken into two categories. First, there are spies coming to America on a secret espionage mission, which they don’t declare to ICE. Second are immigrants who, after their arrival in the United States, decide to commit espionage, usually on behalf of their homeland. Both groups are difficult for our counterintelligence to detect — the latter is especially so.)

— Codes of ethics. DD: What codes of ethics are you under? I am under nine codes of ethics. I have been a CPA since I was 30 in 1979, a Certified Internal Auditor since I was 32, a licensed CPA (inactive since 2000) since I was 32, a Certified Fraud Examiner since I was 41, a Certified Government Financial Manager since I was 45, a Certified Financial Services Auditor since I was 47, a Forensic Accountant since I was 48, a FINRA arbitrator since I was 49, and an American Association of Political Consultants member since I was 50. My critics/opponents have always despised/hated codes of ethics. They destroy those like me a) who they cannot manipulate/dominate, b) who refuse to glorify and praise them, c) who refuse to pander to them, d) who refuse to serve as one of their operatives or dupes, e) who refuse to cover up their wrong doing, and/or f) who refuse to give them money. I should write about my critics/opponents. I would focus on those who still have lots of religious, government, political, and/or financial clout in Wheaton, Milton Township, DuPage County, and Illinois and who have had their operatives and their dupes take the biggest adverse actions against me lately.

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Roman border control rarely made use of massive walls, but depended on natural barriers in the landscape. This was particularly true on the northern border, which heavily relied on the Rhine and Danube rivers. Rome’s borders were gradual transitions more than hard and fast lines. When migrating tribes asked to be admitted to the empire, the Romans tended to follow a fairly standard policy. Tribes were broken up into smaller groups and sent to underpopulated regions. They were forced to surrender their weapons, renounce their loyalty to their tribal leaders, and commit a certain number of fighting men to the Roman legions. These policies had served the empire well for centuries. By diluting tribal loyalty and disarming the newcomers, the Romans strengthened their economy, increased tax revenue, and swelled the ranks of the army.)

ADVOCATE
— DD: LGBTQ advocates demonize, denigrate, and condemn Lindsey Graham. My critics/opponents are furious that I got married when I was 29 in 1978 and that I have stayed married.
https://www.advocate.com/obituaries/lindsey-graham-dead
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Born July 9, 1955, in Central, South Carolina, Graham grew up in the business his parents operated, which included a restaurant, bar, and pool hall. Both parents died while Graham was in his early 20s, and he helped care for his younger sister, Darline Graham Nordone. Graham earned undergraduate and law degrees from the University of South Carolina. He joined the Air Force as a military lawyer and continued to serve in the South Carolina Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, eventually retiring as a colonel. Graham was elected to the House in 1994 and took office in January 1995. He gained national attention as one of the House managers who presented the impeachment case against President Bill Clinton in the Senate. He won election to the Senate in 2002, succeeding Strom Thurmond, and took office in January 2003. He served for more than 23 years. For much of his early Senate career, Graham was closely associated with Arizona Sen. John McCain. The two promoted an interventionist foreign policy and occasionally joined bipartisan negotiations, most notably the 2013 effort to overhaul the country’s immigration system. The measure passed the Senate but did not receive a vote in the House. Graham mounted a brief campaign for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. During the primary, he called Trump a “kook” and a “race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot.” Trump retaliated by reading Graham’s personal cellphone number aloud during a campaign event. After Trump won the presidency, Graham underwent one of Washington’s most conspicuous political transformations. He became a golfing companion, an informal adviser, and a vigorous defender of the president. As chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee from 2019 to 2021, Graham helped advance Trump’s judicial nominees, including Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the Supreme Court. He defended Trump during both impeachment trials. Graham briefly appeared to break with Trump after the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. “Count me out. Enough is enough,” Graham said on the Senate floor. The separation did not last. Graham returned to Trump’s side and remained one of his most visible congressional allies through Trump’s second administration.)

— Trump is turning the organs of the state against his personal enemies. DD: GAO audits IRS. After I earned an MBA when I was 27 in 1976, after I passed the CPA examination on my first attempt when I was 30, after I almost completed the requirements for a master’s degree in accounting, and after I had worked for IRS for almost 9 years, I transferred from IRS to GAO when I was 31. To waste my GAO career and to get rid of me, my Democrat GAO superiors outrageously/disgustingly/falsely/unethically hinted/implied/argued/shouted that the only reason why I transferred and the only reason why I asked to be assigned to audits of IRS was that I wanted to get power to punish my IRS superiors who had a) disallowed my travel vouchers in 1974, b) disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and c) failed/refused to promote me beyond GS-12. They used that to keep me off audits of IRS until I was 37 and then again after I turned 40 and for the rest of me GAO career. Of course, I never asked to be assigned to audits that involved my IRS superiors who had taken the aforesaid adverse actions against me. I stressed that my knowledge of IRS would help me contribute more to GAO’s audits of IRS. I stressed that I was under seven codes of ethics because I had been CPA since I was 30, a Certified Internal Auditor since I was 32, a licensed CPA since I was 32, a Certified Fraud Examiner since I was 41, a Certified Government Financial Manager since I was 45, a Certified Financial Services Auditor since I was 47, and a Forensic Accountant since I was 48. My Democrat IRS and GAO superiors knew full-well that my punishing anyone would violate those codes of conduct.

(FROM THE ARTICLE: On Aug. 8, 2001, George Ryan stood on the steps of the Kankakee County Courthouse and announced he would not seek a second term as governor of Illinois. Ryan’s governorship had been tainted by the licenses-for-bribes scandal, for which he would eventually spend five years in federal prison. Ryan knew he was un-reelectable, but he used the occasion to take a parting shot at the right wing of his party. “I worry for the Republican Party — the party of Lincoln under whose banner I have proudly served all of my life,” he said. “If we’re to be successful, we need to listen more and shout less. We need to moderate our positions. I learned a long time ago that winning public office is about addition and not subtraction, and I would hope that the party folks are listening.” Ryan had once been an archconservative. As speaker of the state House in the early 1980s, he worked with Phyllis Schlafly to stamp out the Equal Rights Amendment. But he won the governorship by running to the left of his Democratic opponent — Southern Illinois congressman Glenn Poshard — on gay rights and abortion. As governor, he instituted a moratorium on the death penalty and, just before leaving office, commuted all death sentences to life in prison. Like any successful politician, Ryan could tell which way the wind was blowing. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, as America’s Red vs. Blue divide developed, Illinois was turning Blue. In 2002, the Democrats took complete control of the state, winning the governorship for the first time in 30 years and the state senate for the first time in more than a decade. Part of their success was due to the national political trends Ryan had observed; part was due to Ryan himself. As the third and last in a 26-year run of Republican governors, his corruption had damaged the brand of a party that had overstayed its welcome.)

Virtually all federal employees are Democrats who are one or more of the aforesaid.

— DD: The Democrat Party is ever-increasingly becoming the Socialist Party. DD: To work for a socialist employer is like working for a Democrat employer. The federal government is a Democrat employer. To advance working for a socialist employer you have to be a socialist. To advance working for a Democrat employer you have to be a Democrat. I worked for the Democrats who ran the federal government for almost 30 years. If I had been a Democrat, they would have promoted me into their Senior Executive Service, currently $197,200/year, long before I was 40. I had earned a job-related bachelor’s degree, three job-related master’s degrees, six job-related professional certifications, and a job-related professional license. But my Democrat superiors flushed all that down their toilets because I was not a Democrat, minority, female, and/or veteran.

— Federal appeals court upholds Illinois ban on semiautomatic weapons. DD: According to Google AI, “A semiautomatic firearm automatically performs the reloading steps but requires a separate trigger pull for every individual shot. One Pull, One Round: Pulling and holding the trigger fires only one single bullet. Self-Loading Action: The firearm uses the internal energy of the fired cartridge (gas, recoil, or blowback) to automatically eject the empty casing and chamber a fresh round. Manual Reset: The shooter must completely release (reset) the trigger and pull it again to fire the next shot.”

— For Texans making the state’s median household income of $84,084 in 2026, it would take 7.2 years to save enough money for a down payment on a house with the state’s typical home value of $302,187. DD: For you, how many months did it take to save enough money for your first down payment? For me, back in the good old days, it took only 25 months. Where did the money come from for your first down payment? When I was 24 in 1972, HUD made the new townhome that I bought in University Park ( https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/774-Sunset-Ct-5-University-Park-IL-60484/5451474_zpid/ ) affordable. I could not have afforded to buy that townhome if it had cost more. In today’s dollars, I paid about $180,000 for it and my down payment would have been about $36,000. In today’s dollars, my IRS Revenue Officer salary had just increased from $56,409/year to $68,999/year. The down payment came from what I had earned working for IRS for 15 months and for a Firestone Store part-time for 18 months and full-time for 7 months before that. According to Zillow, the townhome is currently worth $92,200. That says worlds about real estate values in University Park.

— Teen takeovers confound cities struggling to define the problem — and find solutions. A spate of sometimes violent gatherings has stoked demands for action. But officials know they need to provide outlets for the many teens who are not breaking laws. DD: What is your municipality doing to stop Democrat teen takeovers? I did not need an outlet when I was a teen because I did yard work 1962-1964. I delivered newspapers 1962-1966. I washed dishes 1964-1966. (FROM THE ARTICLE: The Social Security Special Minimum Benefit was introduced in 1972 to ensure a baseline income for retirees with long histories of low earnings. It is based on years of coverage rather than lifetime average wages, with payments ranging from $53.50 to over $1,100 per month in 2026. Fewer people now qualify due to slower price-indexed growth, but it remains an important safety net, particularly for women and long-term low-wage earners.)
