— A divisive moment averted: Plans to bring inflammatory speaker to suburbs would only have hurt Illinois GOP (COMMENT: Political parties need to vet candidates. At least since 2000, everything would have been different politically if the Illinois Republican Party, DuPage County Republican Central Committee, and/or Milton Township Republican Organization had vetted candidates, and especially if they had put me on their candidate vetting committees. I would have called for full background investigations of candidates. I would have used the investigative skills that I acquired a) working for GAO as an Analyst for almost 18 years, the last 11 years of which at the GS-13 Step 1-10 Levels, currently $115,439-$150,075/year, b) working for IRS for as a Revenue Officer almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 Levels, currently $97,079-$110,020/year, and c) becoming a Certified Fraud Examiner, Forensic Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, and Licensed CPA. I should write a book about candidates a) who never should have run because of the big skeletons that they had in their closets and b) candidates who lost general elections because the big skeletons that they had in their closets came out after they won primary elections. In 2004, in Illinois, Jack Ryan ran in the Republican U.S. Senate primary. Ryan withdrew after that extremely big scandal came out and the Illinois Republican Party State Central Committee replaced Ryan with Alan Keyes. If Ryan’s extremely big scandal had come out before the primary election, Oberweis, Rauschenberger, or McKenna would have won and everything would have been different. Oberweis, Rauschenberger, or McKenna might have defeated Obama in the general election. By way of contrast, Blair Hull might very well have won the Democrat primary if Obama’s campaign had not disclosed a far less serious marital issue that Hull had. I was involved in the aforesaid because of my roles as the GOPUSA Illinois Editor, an Illinois Center Right Coalition Steering Committee member, the TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois Vice Chairman, the Milton Township Republican Organization (MTRO) webmaster and a fundraising committee member, and an American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter board member. In 2003, Ryan, Oberweis, McKenna, and other candidates a) attended a picnic that I organized in my precinct and b) Ryan Oberweis, Rauschenberger, McKenna, and other candidates participated in a major MTRO straw poll fundraiser that helped organize. Illinois Separation revealed that seven counties will vote on separating from Cook County and forming a new state. Spokesman Eric Ivers, a member of the Jersey County Board, said he is confident that a vast majority of residents will vote to form a new state. “There are three or four counties downstate that voted blue, but the rest of us are tired of being pushed through the ringer by the folks up in Cook County,” said Ivers. The ballot question will read “Shall the Board of ____ County correspond with the boards of other counties of Illinois outside of Cook about the possibility of separating from Cook County to form a new state, and to seek admission to the Union as such, subject to the approval of the people?” The question is non-binding. Iroquois County will be the first county to vote on the issue that is not more southerly than Peoria, as the movement has been predominantly in the southern half of the state. The other counties putting the question on the ballot include Madison, Jersey, Clinton, Calhoun, Greene and Perry counties. Ivers said the possibility that downstate Illinois could become a new state increased recently when Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer expressed openness to next year ending the ability of minorities to block Senate legislation using a filibuster. It’s conceivable that Democrats could trade statehood for Washington D.C. or Puerto Rico in return for statehood for downstate Illinois. In 2020-2022, 26 and a half counties voted in favor of such questions, and none voted in opposition. The counties averaged 74% in favor. Constitutionally, any deal to make downstate Illinois into a state would require approval from the Illinois General Assembly.)
