July 14 Morning Edition

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— For a municipality or a county to allow the sale of recreational pot is to flush its “family friendly” status down the toilet. Each and every Illinois resident should urge their municipality and their county by email and at municipal and county meetings to vote to ban the sale of recreational pot ASAP. Each and every Wheaton resident should urge Wheaton’s Mayor and each of its City Council members by email (https://www.wheaton.il.us/544/City-Council) and at City Council meetings (the next one is tomorrow, Monday, July 15) to vote to ban the sale of recreational pot in Wheaton ASAP. Similarly, each and every DuPage County resident should urge DuPage County’s Chairman and each of its board members by email (https://dupageco.org/CountyBoard/CountyBoardListing.aspx) and at board meetings (the next one is Tuesday, July 16) to vote to ban the sale of recreational pot in unincorporated DuPage County ASAP. Similarly, each and every Naperville resident should urge Naperville’s Mayor and each of its City Council members by email (https://www.naperville.il.us/government/meet-your-city-council/) and at City Council meetings (the next one is Tuesday, July 16) to vote to ban the sale of recreational pot in Naperville ASAP. – Dave Diersen

SPRINGFIELD STATE JOURNAL REGISTER
— DIERSEN HEADLINE: Trump-haters “hope Illinois private detention ban sparks change.” (DIERSEN: Government is nasty. Politics is nasty. If you are involved in government or in politics, you should expect that sooner or later, your critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes will demonize, denigrate, and condemn the town that you grew up in. I should write a book about those who have demonized, denigrated, and condemned Crete, the town a) that I lived in 1948-1972, b) that my ancestors have lived in since 1854, and c) that my brother continues to live in. They stress that while I lived in Crete, most of its residents were German American and/or Lutheran.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Some of the most vocal supporters of such detention centers have been the communities themselves. One of the first proposals was in the economically depressed community of Crete, which is near the Indiana border. “The only reason we were interested in it was because of the money. We weren’t trying to make any statement of any kind,” said longtime Crete Mayor Michael Einhorn.)

AIKEN STANDARD
— Three seats, seven candidates: Who’s running for Aiken City Council? – Colin Demarest (DIERSEN: Do you live in a city? If a city council seat became vacant, what factors would discourage you from running for it? For me, factors include candidates who commit to voting against the sale of pot and against video gambling in the city. In addition, candidates who commit to promoting the traditional family, right to life, immigration, Second Amendment, illegal drugs, equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving), and other planks in the Illinois Republican Party and Republican Party platforms. In addition, candidates who oppose promoting dependency on government, dependency on charity, LGBTQ activity, abortion, mass/illegal immigration, abolition of the First and Second Amendments, booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and even worse things. When city council vacancies occur, I believe that a) the names of applicants should be immediately released, b) all information that they submit, including completed application forms, resumes, and answers to standard questions, should be immediately released, c) a thorough background investigation should be done on each applicant, and d) one or more candidate forum should be held.)

EUREKA TIMES STANDARD
— How long should a job search take? – ANGELA COPELAND (DIERSEN: What has hindered your job search the most? After I graduated from NIU with a bachelor’s degree in management in 1970 when I was 21 years old, it was my being draft bait. Potential employers did not believe that my application for a financial hardship draft deferment would be granted. After my Democrat GAO superiors succeeded in forcing me to take their early retirement offer in 1997 when I was 49 years old, it was the adverse actions that my Democrat superiors in the federal government had taken against me. My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, gave me unfair performance expectations and appraisals, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, got rid of my mentor in 1987, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take a $19,568 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980. My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, got rid of my mentor in 1975, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974. My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)
