DAILY HERALD
— Legalized marijuana and the workplace – Marcy Traxler (DIERSEN: The more pot that you use, the more impaired that you are. The more booze that you drink, the more impaired that you are. Pot impairs you far longer than booze. Employers should not tolerate any kind of impairment.)
https://www.dailyherald.com/business/20190620/legalized-marijuana-and-the-workplace
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Used versus impaired So how will this impact a business and how it approaches policy? Illinois statute prohibits discrimination against employees for testing positive for marijuana. The upshot is employers cannot rescind a job offer or terminate an employee for a positive drug test. How will this impact employers that want to hire or fire at will? For employers, a key issue involving marijuana is not legalization, but workplace safety. The takeaway is that it is more important than ever to make the distinction between an employee having used marijuana versus the employee being impaired on the job. Having come from an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) background, I think the most progressive companies have addressed this very issue and developed Drug Free Work Place and Safety Program policies to include training for supervisors to observe and document employees that have unsafe practices or exhibit behaviors and signs of drug use.)

FED SMITH
— Bill Resurfaces to Expedite Process of Firing Federal Employees – Ian Smith (DIERSEN: Constructively, to force a federal employee to take early retirement or to resign is to fire that employee. My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997 when I was 49. My Democrat GAO and IRS superiors forced me to take a $19,568 (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980 when I was 31. My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me to resign in 1969 when I was 20. Of course, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes use the aforesaid to hint/imply/argue/shout that given all the work experience, education, professional certifications, and the professional license that I have, I must have been far worse than an “underperforming federal employee,” I must have been a White supremacist, Nazi, KKK member, hater, racist, sexist, bigot, and even worse things. Needless-to-say, I should sue my critics/opponents, sue their operatives, and sue their dupes.)
https://www.fedsmith.com/2019/06/20/bill-resurfaces-expedite-process-firing-federal-employees/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: “Government employees should be held to the same standards as private sector employees, yet it is nearly impossible to fire bureaucrats for failing to do their jobs,” said Senator Perdue. “Right now, it can take more than a year to fire or replace a civil service employee, even for poor performance or misconduct. With a $22 trillion debt crisis, we cannot afford to hold onto bureaucrats who aren’t doing their jobs. Since President Trump took office, more than 4,300 bad actors have been fired, demoted, or suspended at the VA. It’s time to expand those efforts and address problems across the entire federal government.” Congressman Loudermilk added, “Working for the United States federal government is an honor and privilege, and most federal employees cherish this opportunity and desire to serve the American people. Unfortunately, many underperforming federal employees feel entitled to their positions and treat them as their right. The solution to this issue is the MERIT Act. I thank my friend and colleague, Senator Perdue, for leading the charge on this important reform.” It was last introduced in 2018 in both the House and Senate but ultimately failed to advance.)

SPUTNIK NEWS
— Trump Pentagon Nominee a Return to Someone With ‘Limited Military Experience’ (DIERSEN: How much military experience do you have? I have none, but by the end of 1988, I had 3 years experience auditing IRS and almost 9 years experience working for IRS. At the start of 1989, a) to retaliate against me for my becoming an active member in a class action lawsuit that charged them with reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation, b) to punish me for my avoiding the draft, and c) to punish my wife and I for giving up trying to have children, not adopting, and not becoming foster parents, my Democrat GAO superiors abruptly and rudely threw me off audits of IRS and assigned me to an audit of the Department of Defense 1990 ammunition budget request in Rock Island. SEE: https://www.gao.gov/assets/150/148194.pdf Instead of me, my GAO superiors should have assigned one of my many coworkers who had military experience and wanted the assignment. They painted me as having an unfair advantage to work on audits of IRS because I had worked for IRS for almost 9 years. Overwhelmingly, my GAO superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates had very little or no prior work experience when GAO hired them.)
