— Chicago area’s poverty rate declined in 2015 as incomes rose – Alexia Elejalde-Ruiz (DIERSEN: Democrat politicians fight poverty by taking money, jobs, opportunities, etc. away from Republicans and by giving that money, by giving those jobs, and by giving those opportunities to Democrats. It is called Affirmative Action, Diversity, and Inclusion.)
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Chicago metro area had nearly 52,000 fewer people living in poverty in 2015 than it did the year before, following national trends as its poverty rate dropped and household incomes rose — though the economic improvements locally were not as vigorous as national averages. The poverty rate fell to 13.3 percent last year from 13.9 percent in the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin metro area, which was among 16 of the 25 most populous metro areas to see a significant drop in poverty rates, according to American Community Survey data scheduled for Thursday release by the U.S. Census Bureau. The other large metro areas saw no change in poverty rates; none had an increase. Median household income, adjusted for inflation, rose by 2.4 percent in the Chicago metro area between 2014 and 2015, to $63,135. That growth was more tepid than the national average, which saw median household income rise 3.8 percent, to $55,775. Median incomes increased in 21 of the 25 most populous metro areas. None showed a decrease. Nationally, the poverty rate declined to 14.7 percent in 2015 from 15.5 percent the year before, according to the American Community Survey, marking the first time since the survey launched in 2005 that poverty has declined significantly two years in a row.)
