(FROM THE ARTICLE: Illinois State Senator Heather Steans (D-Chicago) and Illinois State Representative Kelly Cassidy (D-Chicago) believe that legalizing marijuana for recreational use will be good for Illinois so they have introduced SB 316 and HB 2353 and, as part of the public relations push, formed the Coalition for a Safer Illinois. Yes, Safer. It’s hard to imagine how adding more drugged drivers on the roads and putting more drugs into the hands of our children could possibly make Illinois safer. The bills before the General Assembly would legalize the possession of up to 28 grams of marijuana and allow facilities to sell marijuana products for adults over 21 and tax and regulate those sales “in a manner similar to alcohol.” “Safer?”  Hardly.  We just have to look to the examples of Colorado and Washington State to see the consequences.  Both states legalized marijuana for recreational use in 2013 and 2012 respectively. Colorado now has more pot shops than Starbucks and McDonald’s combined. . .You, too, can help! Call your state representative today and urge him/her to oppose any attempts to legalize or decriminalize marijuana. CLICK HERE. Your rep will be listed as the last entry on the page, once you fill in your zip code and address. Simply click on his/her name. You may also want to fill out an opposition slip to this bill. The proponents are. A hearing is being held (AT NOON) on Wednesday, April 19th, 2017. It’s easy if you follow these steps.)

— HARDCOPY ARTICLE TITLE: Those who skirt ‘fair share’ annoy tax filers most – Gail MarksJarvis  (DIERSEN: Should everyone be required to disclose, or better yet, should IRS be required to disclose, how much federal income tax, adjusted for inflation, that each and every person, organization, and company paid during the last a) year, b) 5 years, c) 10 years, d) 15 years, e) 20 years, f) 25 years, g) 30 years, h) 35 years, i) 40 years, j) 45 years, k) 50+ years, and l) during their lifetime?  From what I see, members of the following groups are expected to pay much more income than others: Trump supporters, Protestant, conservative, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owners, German American, draft avoiders (except Bill Clinton), those who do not have dependents, and those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time.  One could argue that the more federal income tax that you have paid during your lifetime adjusted for inflation, the more that you are a “contributing member of society.”)

QUESTION: Who considers the federal government to be America’s employer of last resort, that is, the employer who hires losers?  ANSWER: Those who have not and will not seek a job with the federal government a) because the pay and benefits are terrible, b) because the advancement opportunities are terrible, c) because they lack required education, work experience, professional certifications, and/or professional licenses, d) because they cannot pass an employment examination, e) because they cannot pass a background investigation, f) because they cannot pass a physical examination, g) because they cannot take the demonization, denigration, and condemnation that comes with being a federal employee or federal retiree, and/or h) because they are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran and they know that the federal government discriminates against members of the aforesaid groups.)

http://www.jsonline.com/story/opinion/nation-now/2017/04/17/liberals-went-off-deep-end-immigration-column/100548156/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: It is hard to have the same feelings, though, toward the 40% of undocumented immigrants who came here on a plane, willfully overstayed their tourist visas, then hunkered down and waited for the next round of legalization. And I have some animus toward our dysfunctional immigration system that punishes (by deportation) undocumented immigrants but completely lets off the hook their partners-in-law-breaking, the businesses and individuals that have used their cheap labor over the years. Fact is, if E-verify had been strictly enforced all these years, Trump’s proposed wall would have been rendered unnecessary.)

http://www.politico.com/tipsheets/illinois-playbook/2017/04/politico-illinois-playbook-rauners-data-mining-219823
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A new expense filing reveals how Gov. Bruce Rauner’s campaign is investing heavily in an online mapping technology aimed at influencing voters — and potentially elected officials. The filing shows the Rauner camp’s biggest recent expenditure — more than $338,000 — went to a New York-based company called Project Applecart. (See Rauner’s filing). The technology uses unorthodox ways of collecting data on individuals, including through high school yearbooks and obituaries, according to this explainer: watch here. It identifies a “social anchor” who has links to voters with similar ideals.)
