(FROM THE ARTICLE: Beattie, when reached by phone on Sunday, declined to elaborate on his dismissal but provided The Post with a statement. “In 2016 I attended the Mencken conference in question and delivered a stand-alone, academic talk titled ‘The Intelligentsia and the Right.’ I said nothing objectionable and stand by my remarks completely,” Beattie said in the statement. “It was the honor of my life to serve in the Trump Administration. I love President Trump, who is a fearless American hero, and continue to support him one hundred percent. I have no further comment.” Beattie, who holds a doctorate from Duke, was one of the rare academics on the White House staff. In 2016, he went public with his support for Trump and cited Trump’s hard-line immigration position as one of the key reasons for his victory. “One of the signals for me is when Trump made his provocative remarks on immigration and then refused to apologize in the wake of overwhelming corporate and media opposition,” Beattie told the Chronicle, a newspaper at Duke.)

CBS NEWS
— More young Americans age 16 to 24 are working this summer, pushing the unemployment rate for the group to a 52-year low. But there’s a catch: the labor force participation rate for young Americans remains below its 1989 peak. – AIMEE PICCHI (DIERSEN: What summer jobs did you have? I did yard work and delivered newspapers during the summers of 1962, 1963, and 1964; I washed dishes during the summer of 1965; I cleaned golf shoes, chipped slag, and pumped gasoline during the summer of 1966; and I delivered mail during the summers of 1967, 1968, and 1969.)
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/youth-unemployment-hits-a-50-year-low-but-theres-a-catch/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: But the labor-force participation rate stands at 60.6 percent, far below its peak of 77.5 percent in July 1989, the BLS added. This rate illustrates the share of 16 to 24 year olds who are working or looking and available for work. For 16-to-19 year-olds in particular, participation is at a record low. Just 35 percent of that age group is looking for work or working—the lowest figure since record-keeping started in 1948.)
