If/when Democrats and/or RINOs try to make your county, your township, your municipality, and/or your school district official sanctuaries for illegals, who will lead the fight against that? I will lead the fight against that in DuPage County, Milton Township, Wheaton, and Wheaton Warrenville School District 200. Previously, in Wheaton, I led successful fights against video gambling and pot.

— JANUARY 01, 1989 FLASHBACK: IN SNOW, IT`S A CUL-DE-SOCKED – Blair Kamin (COMMENT: I have lived on Wheaton’s high-taxed 4-home Cove Court cul-de-sac since 1984. Yesterday, I learned that because of “budget constraints,” Wheaton no longer final plows its cul-de-sacs unless individual snows are more than 2-inches deep. That means that if a cul-de-sac is hit with multiple individual snows in a row, but each of them are less than 2-inches, no final plowing is done no matter how high the snow is piled up in the middle of the cul-de-sac, along the curb, and in front of driveways. I have appealed that final plowing policy to Wheaton’s City Manager. My 2018 Chevrolet Cruze LT has only a 6 1/2-inch ground clearance. Mountains of salt and hope for warm temperatures are not the answers. Per doctor’s orders, because on shoulder/arm injury, I am not supposed to shovel snow this winter.)
https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-1989-01-01-8902220015-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Snow and the cul-de-sac do not mix. The Plow Man had cometh, and as she looked at what he`d left behind, Drake recalled the time a plow operator scooped up neighbors` trash and unloaded it near her front lawn. ”Don`t buy a house on a cul-de-sac unless you want to put up with all that,” said the 45-year-old resident of west suburban Naperville. Last week`s heavy snow reminded thousands of people that they pay a price for living on quiet streets with privacy and gently sweeping curves that are like a snowball heaved at Chicago`s no-nonsense street grid. From Naperville, which has about 700 cul-de-sacs, to northwest suburban Schaumburg, which has about 535 of the dead-end, turn-around streets, the price is paid in destroyed sod, buried mailboxes and driveways that get clogged after there`s no place left for plows to put the snow. ”Mother Nature abhors a void,” said Steven Kaar, operations and maintenance manager for the Naperville Department of Transportation. ”Unfortunately, it`s Mr. Jones` driveway.” The reason for the mess is that the typical snow-clearing vehicle in Naperville, a small pickup truck, isn`t powerful enough to push heavy snow where operators want it to go. In fact, it takes 7 to 10 times longer to clear a cul-de-sac than a through street, according to Naperville officials. That`s bad news for suburban taxpayers, wherever they live. Cul-de-sacs are ”several times more expensive” to clear than regular streets, according to Naperville City Manager Ralph DeSantis. Heavy snow also slows Postal Service carriers. Just try reaching out of your Jeep and putting a letter in a snow-encased mailbox. ”I`ll try and deliver it (to the door),” said mailman Tom Stafford, 35, as he headed down a Naperville cul-de-sac. ”I`ve done that at least 20 times today. And I`m only about two-thirds of the way through the route.” Such are the disadvantages of streets where children can play without fear of through traffic and parents don`t have to contend with noise. Homes usually sell for a little more because of the privacy of cul-de-sacs. It also doesn`t hurt that the streets are called cul-de-sacs. To be sure, cul-de-sac is French for ”dead end.” But French adds a touch of class in the same way that English names like Devonshire give snob appeal to little subdivisions on the prairie. Yet that has not rescued the cul-de-sac from being ranked behind arterial streets, major collector streets and local side streets on the snow-clearance priority lists of suburban traffic engineers. The engineers, who make their rankings on the basis of which street handles the most traffic, regularly hear from armchair critics. ”They neglect roads like this,” said 20-year-old John Delgado, a transplanted Californian who was house-sitting on a cul-de-sac in Naperville last week. ”Out here`s where it really matters. . . . People have to be able to get out of their house to get on the main road.” Suburban officials like to deflect such criticism by pointing out that cul-de-sacs may be more manageable than Chicago`s side streets. In the city, cars often cram both sides of the side streets-and wind up covered with snow after plowing. In contrast, it`s illegal to park on the street during certain night hours in some suburbs. But some residents can`t get their cars out of the driveway after a heavy snow. That`s because plows are supposed to dump snow into ”parkways,” the city-owned strips that are wedged between the sidewalk and the curb. But the parkways are filled with mailboxes, street lights, trees and fireplugs. Those obstacles often force plows to push snow into driveways and sidewalks. ”It`s not intentional and it`s not malicious,” said Naperville`s Kaar, sounding like one who has been accused of such sins. ”Again, it`s the law of physics. . . . You come up to a void and the plow fills that void.” Another problem: Plows often go out at night and during snowstorms, when it`s difficult to see. As a result, they sometimes go over the curb and gouge sod. That some suburbs pay for replacing sod underlines the fact that cul-de-sac power is not taken lightly. Naperville, for example, has at least 17,000 residents who live on cul-de-sacs, according to Kaar. That`s more than 20 percent of the suburb`s 79,805 people. The snow-clearing problem also has forced suburbs to purchase something called the articulated end-loader-a hulking, bulldozer-like contraption that bends in the middle like large city buses. That feature allows the loader to make a complete, uninterrupted turn around cul-de-sacs. But unlike the weak pickup truck, the loader has the power-most of the time-to put snow where it should go, officials said. There`s just one problem: The end loaders cost $65,000 to $80,000 apiece- compared to $15,000 for a pickup truck. As a result, Naperville and Schaumburg have only a handful of them. The fact that end-loaders can travel at only 18 m.p.h. also brings complaints from residents who think it takes too long to clear their streets. But residents like Diane Drake aren`t leaving their cul-de-sacs-not because of an inconvenience that strikes a few times a year. ”I wouldn`t move to a regular street,” Drake said. ”This is pretty good. Until it snows.”)

— US City’s (Naperville) Innovative Plan: Shelter a Migrant Asylum-Seeker in Your Home! Are You Interested? (COMMENT: Constructively, McBroom is pushing to make Naperville a sanctuary city. I will lead the fight against that in DuPage County, Milton Township, Wheaton, and Wheaton Warrenville School District 200. (FROM THE ARTICLE: Amid Illinois confronting a persistent migrant crisis, a Naperville councilman, Josh McBroom, is proactively addressing the situation. He has proposed a plan to connect willing local residents with asylum-seekers requiring shelter. McBroom discussed the concept of compiling a list of Naperville households willing to host these newcomers at a recent city council meeting, as per the Chicago Tribune. While there seems to be a split among city officials, the proposal has garnered some backing. This has prompted staff to explore the viability of a grassroots hosting program, leveraging the city’s affluence as a refuge for those in need. “We do have a very affluent community. A lot of big homes,” McBroom highlighted the potential in Naperville for private citizens to fill the gap where government funds may fall short, according to the same Tribune report. Following Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s move to relocate over 30,000 migrants to the Chicago area, including collar counties like Naperville due to logistical changes, McBroom’s initiative emerges. While still in the early stages, this plan could provide a direct means of assistance to these individuals, many of whom encounter harsh temperatures and resource shortages upon their arrival. “I’m hearing stories about little kids at train stations without coats on,” McBroom said, painting a grim picture of the migrants’ plight to the Chicago Tribune. Aligned with local initiatives, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker revealed a commitment of $17 million in state funds to assist municipalities in tackling the migrant crisis, as reported by the Daily Herald. The Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, granted $11 million from this fund, will distribute grants to communities displaying readiness to aid migrants with housing and food. While recognizing the intricacies of his proposal and addressing concerns regarding local schools and city management roles, McBroom maintains the necessity of the initiative in response to what he deems the “inhumane” current state of affairs. The implementation specifics of McBroom’s proposal remain unclear. The challenge extends beyond city council deliberations, encompassing logistics, legality, and ethical considerations. Nevertheless, the growing support for action in Naperville indicates that amidst the cold winds, there is a compassionate undercurrent eager to reshape the narrative for those stranded in the suburb’s embrace. McBroom shared with the Daily Herald, “My idea would be let’s find out … let’s find out who’s willing to help.”)
