NBC5
— Rauner’s General Counsel Dennis Murashko Escorted From Office a Week Before Planned Exit: Reports – Mary Ann Ahern  (DIERSEN: Have you been fired? In early 1971, after I had earned a bachelor’s degree in management from NIU in August of 1970, my Firestone Store boss in Chicago Heights ordered me to clean the white walls on display tires that were hanging on the walls of the store showroom while the store was open. That prompted me to tell him that I had accepted a job offer from Oldsmobile. He immediately flew into a rage, fired me, and threw me out of the store. Then, Oldsmobile withdrew its job offer saying that it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint. That directly resulted in my accepting a job offer from IRS. That Firestone Store boss had not hired me — Firestone Stores regional office had hired me. In my opinion, that Firestone Store boss disapproved of many of my demographics including my religion and my national origin, but most of all, he disapproved that I had avoided the draft.)

— Group launches website in war on Illinois property taxes – Glenn Minnis
https://dupagepolicyjournal.com/stories/511195487-group-launches-website-in-war-on-illinois-property-taxes
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Homeowners Defense Association (HDA) has launched a website to counter the damage it sees as being done to homeowners across the state by virtue of the runaway property tax system. “DefendHomeowners.com will seek to mobilize homeowners by making them aware of how the state’s tax system is impacting their home,” HDA Executive Director Heidi Holan told the DuPage Policy Journal. “We will be advocating for tax reform and making people aware of what they can do about the current system.” With Illinois residents paying some of the highest property taxes in the country, Holan argues that the situation has reached a crisis point. “High property taxes are the biggest driver of all the outmigration you’re seeing across the state,” she said. “We want the cap to be somewhere around 1 percent; right now it’s at about 2.3 percent, or more than twice as high as where the national average is.” Holan said homeowners can start fighting back by making themselves aware of what options they have and to understand what level of power they hold by banding together. In addition to free individualized property tax reports, HDA members will receive free region-by-region property tax analyses. Membership is free.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner has vetoed a proposal limiting what employers screening job applicants can ask, including prior wage or salary history. Rauner rejected the plan Friday, saying he supports the effort but Illinois should follow Massachusetts’ lead, which prevents salary inquiries before the job offer, among other things. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeachment_process_against_Richard_Nixon)? I worked for the Democrats who ran IRS’s Collection Division in Chicago. They took their anger against Nixon out on me. My Democrat IRS superiors a) disallowed the $5/day partial day per diem claims that I had filed (SEE: http://www.gao.gov/products/463866) and b) got rid of the IRS manager who had promoted me in 1972, 1973, and 1974.
