GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— At its August 5, 2019 meeting, Wheaton’s City Council is scheduled a) to vote on “a resolution and draft ordinance relating to a text amendment to zoning ordinance prohibiting cannabis business establishments in any zoning district” and b) to set “August 26 as the Public Hearing date.” (https://www.wheaton.il.us/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_08052019-1220 and https://www.wheaton.il.us/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Item/4222?fileID=6785) If you are a Wheaton resident, please join me in urging the Wheaton City Council to vote yes on the resolution and ordinance to ban the sale of pot in Wheaton. – Dave Diersen

— 5:00 PM, Tuesday, August 6, 2019, is the filing deadline for applications to be appointed to fill Wheaton’s West District City Council vacancy. Sadly, Wheaton’s policy is to not disclose the names of the applicants or information about them, but instead, just the number of applications received. So far, Wheaton has received 30 requests for applications, 4 complete applications, and 1 incomplete application. So far, to my knowledge, none of the applicants has publicly announced that they have filed. Because of that, I will be filing. In my opinion, not only Wheaton’s West District residents, but all of Wheaton’s residents should know who the applicants are before the filing deadline. If you become aware of someone who has filed or will file, please ask him/her to issue a press release and to include diersen@aol.com in the press release list. – Dave Diersen

ILLINOIS REPUBLICAN PARTY
— ILGOP Chairman Calls on Sen. Tom Cullerton to Resign Immediately The Democrat State Senator was indicted today on 41 counts of embezzlement, conspiracy, and making false statements It was reported today by the Chicago Tribune that Democrat State Senator Tom Cullerton has been indicted by federal prosecutors. Illinois Republican Party Chairman, Tim Schneider, responded with the following statement: “The criminal activity of Sen. Tom Cullerton brought to light by federal investigators is appalling. For too long, Illinoisans have been hurt by self-serving and self-dealing politicians. Sen. Cullerton is just another example of the insider class that makes money off their government positions and sticks taxpayers with the bill. Cullerton has betrayed the trust of the voters of his district and citizens of this state. He should do the right thing and resign immediately.”
