— Nothing is more powerful than privileged white people talking about white privilege – Dahleen Glanton (DIERSEN: According to my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes, a) instead of me, the Post Office should have hired a minority in 1966, b) that the Post Office should gotten rid of me much sooner than it did so that a minority could have my job, c) instead of me, IRS should have hired a minority in 1971, d) instead of me, IRS should have promoted minorities in 1972, 1973, and 1974, e) instead of me, GAO should have hired a minority in 1980, f) instead of me, GAO should have promoted a minority in 1986, and g) that GAO should have gotten rid of me much sooner than it did so that a minority could have my job and my preferred corner office.)

CRAIN’S CHICAGO BUSINESS
— Is metro Chicago gaining or losing jobs? Yes. – GREG HINZ (DIERSEN: From what I see, the more of the following that you are, the less likely that Chicago employers will hire you, retain you, or promote you: Trump supporter, Protestant, conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, older, rich, gun owner, German American, draft avoider, and/or if your ancestors have been in America for a long time.)
http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20180730/BLOGS02/180739979
— Why CPS students of color still lose – GREG HINZ (DIERSEN: What high school did you graduate from? Since 1966, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have hinted/implied/argued/shouted that I had an unfair advantage in life because I graduated from Crete-Monee High School in 1966. One could ask my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes what percent of my classmates a) earned a bachelor’s degree, b) earned a master’s degree, c) earned a professional certification, and d) earned a professional license.)
http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20180727/ISSUE05/180729916
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Metropolitan Planning Council ruffled some fur recently when it concluded in a report on census data that African-Americans are only partially sharing in downtown Chicago’s job boom. The council is right. Though one can argue that the glass is half full rather than half empty, fact is that in a time when overall downtown jobs grew 10 percent, the number held by blacks was up 2 percent. That’s certainly better than the 7.5 percent drop in Chicago’s black population in the same period, but not good enough. One obvious solution to that is better education. If young adults who now are trapped in declining neighborhoods get the right schooling and can tap into the right networks, they ought to be able to get more of these jobs. This is what was discouraging about another report that landed in my inbox a few days ago, concluding that Chicago public schools that are heavily black and Latino aren’t offering the same rich selection of college-prep courses as schools with more white students.)

HERALD & REVIEW
— Lake Shore-to-Wrigley anti-violence protest Thursday will cross Cubs game, Lollapalooza – JOHN BYRNE (DIERSEN: Who does not want your backing? Those who do not want my backing a) reject those like me who support the traditional family, right to life, immigration, Second Amendment, illegal drugs, equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving), and the rest of the planks in the Illinois Republican Party platform and the Republican Party platform, b) reject those like me who oppose the promotion of dependency on government, dependency on charity, LGBTQ activity, abortion, mass/illegal immigration, abolition of the First and Second Amendments, booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation, c) reject those like me who they cannot manipulate/dominate, and d) reject those like me who do not glorify and praise them, who do not pander to them, who do not serve as their operatives or dupes, and who do not give them money.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Organizers planning an anti-violence march that could snarl traffic along its route from Lake Shore Drive to Wrigleyville during Thursday’s evening rush hour — before a Cubs game and on the first day of Lollapalooza — went to City Hall Monday and made it clear they don’t want Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s backing for their demonstration.)

Madigan, chairman of the Democratic Party of Illinois, pointed the finger at President Trump. “With Donald Trump in the White House, women are constantly targeted as part of his agenda. ILLINOIS WATCHDOG
— As jobs market improves, more people quitting – Cole Lauterbach (DIERSEN: With only rare exceptions, the longer that you work for government, the more impossible it is to get a job in the private sector. Private sector employers have an extremely low opinion of government employees. Private sector employers view government employees as being lazy, stupid, grossly overpaid, and even worse things. The longer that you work for government, the lower the opinion that private sector employers have of you. I was a government employee for almost 30 years. (FROM THE ARTICLE: Illinois Gov. Rauner dropped 10 percentage points in the first three months of 2018, and now holds the third worst approval ranking. ASSOCIATED PRESS
— On retirement question, Justice Ginsburg has go-to answers (DIERSEN: I would have first been eligible for regular retirement in 2003 when I would have been 55 years old.)
https://apnews.com/eccb7230dc9245f79cda9cafed4ee080/On-retirement-question,-Justice-Ginsburg-has-go-to-answers
(FROM THE ARTICLE: For more than a decade, audiences and interviewers have had one pressing question for Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg: When will you retire? The question used to be whether the now 85-year-old liberal justice would let President Barack Obama choose her successor. Now it’s whether President Donald Trump might, giving conservatives an even stronger hold on the court. Ginsburg, the court’s oldest current member, has used a variety of practiced answers to the retirement question over the years. They all boil down to the same thing: She isn’t ready to go. On Sunday, Ginsburg reminded a New York audience that her former colleague Justice John Paul Stevens was 90 when he retired in 2010. “My senior colleague, Justice John Paul Stevens, he stepped down when he was 90, so think I have about at least five more years,” Ginsburg said, according to a CNN report.)

WASHINGTON POST
— White, and in the minority She speaks English. Her co-workers don’t. Inside a rural chicken plant, whites struggle to fit in. – Terrence McCoy (DIERSEN: How fast is your precinct, your municipality, your township/ward, and your county becoming anti-Trump, anti-Protestant, anti-conservative, anti-patriotic, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-rich people, anti-gun owners, anti-German Americans, anti-draft avoiders, and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time?)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/local/wp/2018/07/30/feature/majority-minority-white-workers-at-this-pennsylvania-chicken-plant-now-struggle-to-fit-in/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In a country where whites will lose majority status in about a quarter-century, and where research suggests that demographic anxiety is contributing to many of the social fissures polarizing the United States, from immigration policy to welfare reform to the election of President Trump, the story of the coming decades will be, to some degree, the story of how white people adapt to a changing country. It will be the story of people like Heaven Engle and Venson Heim, both of whom were beginning careers on the bottom rung of an industry remade by Latinos, whose population growth is fueling that of America, and were now, in unusually intense circumstances, coming to understand what it means to be outnumbered. They didn’t know the heavy burden of discrimination familiar to members of historically oppressed minority groups, including biased policing and unequal access to jobs and housing. But some of the everyday experiences that have long challenged millions of black, Latino and immigrant Americans — the struggle to understand and be understood, feeling unseen, fear of rapid judgments — were beginning to challenge them, too.)
