Your request for the records referenced above is respectfully denied per Section 5 ILCS 140/2, Sec. 7 Exemptions (1) (1) “Minutes of meetings of public bodies closed to the public as provided in the Open Meetings Act until the public body makes the minutes available to the public under Section 2.06 of the Open Meetings Act.” The Illinois Election Code allows the public release of statements of candidacy when an individual chooses to run for an elected office. While the applicants in this case are not running for election, but rather are seeking to be appointed to a vacancy on the City Council, after reviewing State statutes, we believe it would be permissible to release the names and addresses of the applicants in response to your request, and that information is attached.” Of course, those who do not want anyone to see the documents support Barrett-Hagen’s denial.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Documents obtained from Murray State University challenge former Southern Illinois University President Randy Dunn’s claim that he did nothing to “fast-track” the hiring of the son of a former SIU trustee while president of MSU. The documents, obtained by The Southern via the Kentucky Open Records Act, show Dunn signed a hiring process exemption, also known as a search waiver, to hire Tyson Manering — son of former SIU Trustee Donna Manering — as an international recruiter at MSU. The exemption allowed Murray State to hire Tyson Manering outside of its standard search and hiring protocols. Generally, filling a position like Manering’s would have required forming a search committee to vet applicants, interview top candidates, and collectively make a hire, MSU policy indicates. In this case, Manering was selected directly, via the exemption, 12 days before the international recruiter job was ever publicly posted, and more than two weeks before he submitted his online job application, records show.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Highlight your strengths and what is most relevant to the potential employer. Place the strongest and most relevant points first where they are more apt to be read in order to hook the reader. Match the needs of the hiring company. Review job postings online and in the newspapers for positions that interest you. Each listing will almost always have a brief blurb about the company and the position available. Read the job description closely, and use the key words listed in these ads, and match them to the bullet points in your resume. Tailor your resume to the position. Be positive. For instance, if you feel your past graduation date will subject you to age discrimination, leave it off the resume. Focus on the duties that do support your objective and curtail or omit irrelevant personal information like your race.)
