https://www.journal-topics.com/articles/illinois-house-oks-bill-to-prohibit-banning-of-books-in-libraries-senate-next/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Illinois House passed a bill last Wednesday that would prohibit libraries from banning books or other material because of partisan or doctrinal pressure, prompting strong opposition from Republicans who called it an assault on local control. . .Some Republicans, however, argued that public libraries are governed by locally elected boards, and that those boards should have the authority to decide how best to serve their communities. “I find this a complete assault on local control,” said Rep. Martin McLaughlin (R-Barrington Hills). These people volunteer as nonpartisan elected local officials, and for the state to tell a local library board, ‘listen to the professionals; follow the professionals’ – I don’t understand why we have local elections anymore if a bill like this passes.” The bill passed the House 69-39 with all of the no votes coming from Republicans. Three Democrats and one Republican were recorded as present but not voting. The bill next goes to the Senate for consideration.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Democratic Party of Illinois is spending $300,000 on mailers and online campaigns for local school and library board races early next month. Democrats said in a news release they’ve identified dozens of candidates they recommend and oppose while launching a website DefendOurSchoolsIL.com. Last week, Gov. J.B. Pritzker explained why his attention is on local school board races. “There are lots of candidates who are running, Republicans or Democrats, they’re not listed on the ballots as such. What we’re trying to do is to raise awareness about the extremists that are running,” Pritzker said at an unrelated event last week.)

FOX ILLINOIS

— Democrats say “What a House GOP messaging bill could spell for 2024 culture war campaign.” How successful have the Democrats who run your school district been in making its schools crank out sexually active LGBTQing “good little Democrats?” What percent of the students in your school district a) are not reading or doing math at grade level and/or b) are anti-conservative, anti-Republican, anti-American, anti-White, anti-male, anti-older people, anti-heterosexual, anti-those in traditional marriages, anti-rich people, anti-home owners, anti-gun owners, anti-Christian, anti-Protestant, anti-Italian American, anti-German American, and/or anti-those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time?
https://www.nprillinois.org/2023-03-24/what-a-house-gop-messaging-bill-could-spell-for-2024-culture-war-campaign
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The bill, introduced by Louisiana Rep. Julia Letlow, requires schools to notify parents that they have the right to review the curriculum and school budget, inspect books and other library materials, and receive information about any violent activity in the school. The bill would also prohibit schools from selling student information. Elementary schools or schools housing grades 5-8 would be required to obtain parental consent before changing a student’s pronouns or preferred name or allowing a student to change their sex-based accommodations, like locker rooms or bathrooms.)
— Democrats say “President Biden’s nominee to head the FAA has withdrawn after Republican criticism.” I should write a book about those who have wasted my IRS work experience the most. I worked for IRS for almost 9 years, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 Levels, currently $92,279-$104,583/year. GAO audits IRS. I worked for GAO on audits of IRS for 3 years at the GS-13 Step 1-3 Levels, currently $109,732-$117,047/year. I would focus on a) my Democrat IRS and GAO superiors, b) my Republican U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives, c) Speaker Hastert, d) staff members for the aforesaid, and e) candidates of the aforesaid offices and their political consultants and campaign managers.

(FROM THE ARTICLE: In 2022, nearly 38% of Illinois’ fourth grade students did not meet grade level reading standards, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress. This is roughly average and is not significantly lower than the nation’s overall reading scores.)

CHICAGO CRUSADER
— Democrats say “Advocates push for tax credit aimed at increasing affordable housing.” In 1971, HUD guaranteed $30 million in loans to create University Park. If I sought a government office or a political office, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes would hint/imply/argue/shout that I unethically bought a new town home in University Park in 1972 ( https://www.redfin.com/IL/University-Park/774-Sunset-Ct-60484/unit-5/home/23344604 ) that HUD had earmarked for Blacks.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Lawmakers are considering bills that would create a new tax credit for affordable housing, referred to as the “Build Illinois Homes Tax Credit.” The legislation, contained in the identical House Bill 2044 and Senate Bill 1737, would mirror a federal program administered by the Illinois Housing Development Authority and Chicago Department of Housing which helps finance affordable housing across Illinois.

— Could we get the ‘banned books’ people to start caring about banned books? – Timothy P. Carney
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/could-we-get-banned-books-people-care-banned-books
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Did you know that the 1619 Project is a banned book? This might surprise you, given that it has sold hundreds of thousands of copies, has a Hulu original series, and that governments everywhere are paying the author tens of thousands of dollars to speak about the book. Did you know that The Handmaid’s Tale is also banned? Again, this could be a confusing fact for anyone paying any attention to American media and elite culture over the past seven years. But the 1619 Project and The Handmaid’s Tale are two of the books pictured in this NPR story on banned books or the “banned book” websites to which it links. Of course, by no ordinary understanding of the word “banned” are these books banned, as evidenced that every book mentioned herein is available at every prestige bookstore, every chain bookstore, and Amazon. What’s going on is that activists have decided to change the meaning of “banned books” to include any book that has been removed from a middle school curriculum or is not stocked in a high school library. It’s normal that activists would abuse language in order to make their own issue seem more important. It’s unfortunate that this abuse of language is at the hands of people who claim to care about literacy, given that precision in language is a way in which literature can liberate and inform. It’s also lamentable that so much of the news media credulously adopts the activists’ dishonest language. NPR uncritically repeats the word “ban” more than 50 times in this story about books that obviously everyone can buy, get for free, and take out from public libraries.)

My father died suddenly in 1969 when he was 47 and I was 21-year-old NIU student. Potential employers were not interested in hiring me because they viewed me as being draft-bait and my demographics were terrible. In 1970, after a) earning a bachelor’s degree in management from NIU, b) getting a job working for the Firestone Store in Chicago Heights, a job that did not really require a college degree, c) moving back in with my mother and brother in Crete, and d) starting to help support them financially, I applied for a financial hardship draft deferment. Before that application was approved in 1971, a) Oldsmobile offered me a job which I accepted, b) my Firestone Store boss rudely fired me because I had accepted that job offer, and c) Oldsmobile withdrew that job offer saying that it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint. Because of the aforesaid, I accepted a job offer from IRS to be a GS-7 (currently $52,002/year) Revenue Officer. I got rehired by Firestone to work part-time pumping gasoline and I continued to live with my mother and brother and to help support them financially until my mother got a better paying job in 1972. I should write a book about my critics/opponents in Wheaton who continue to demonize me, denigrate me, and condemn me the most as being a newcomer. They stress that unlike them, a) I have not have lived in Wheaton as long as them — I have lived in Wheaton only since I was 29 years old in 1978, b) I never raised any children in Wheaton, c) I never attended any schools in Wheaton, d) I never attended any churches in Wheaton, and/or e) I never worked in Wheaton. I would focus on the aforesaid who have also demonized, denigrated, and condemned my hometown of Crete when I lived there 1948-1972 as being full of racist, sexist, bigoted Missouri Synod Lutheran German Americans. Better yet, I should sue my critics/opponents.)
