CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
— Republicans call on Pritzker to veto Dems’ legislative maps, dubbing them ‘worse than what we witnessed under Madigan’ What seemed clear was that the new maps charted a tough course for the GOP, forcing some Republican legislators, including one candidate for governor, to compete with one another for the same political turf. – Rachel Hinton

— Mayor Lori Lightfoot is correct: Newsrooms need more diversity – DAHLEEN GLANTON
(DIERSEN: Glanton must love what the Democrats who ran GAO’s Chicago office did to promote diversity during the 1980s and 1990s. They used Affirmative Action, Diversity, Inclusion, up-or-out, budget cuts, and early outs to get rid of their employees who were Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran and who they had not promoted to GS-13 (currently $102,188) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $120,755) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $142,041) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $172,500) by age 40. Extremely few GAO employees make the aforesaid promotion deadlines.)

— Pandemic Gap Year 2.0: Another wave of students defer admissions and take an independent gap year instead – CLARE PROCTOR
(DIERSEN: For future federal employees who are Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran, taking a gap year would make it all but impossible to make GS-13 (currently $102,188/year) by age 25. I failed to meet that crucial promotion deadline. I did not start working for IRS until I was 22. I made GS-9 when I was 23, GS-11 when I was 24, and GS-12 when I was 25. I did not make GS-13 until I was 38.)
