(FROM THE ARTICLE: Among the people meeting with the president-elect this weekend: the man who marshalled more outside money than anyone else to help Donald Trump win the White House. Todd Ricketts, a co-owner of the Chicago Cubs, helped raise at least $66 million for outside groups called Future 45 and the 45 Committee — a nod the incoming 45th president. Ricketts is emblematic of what a topsy-turvy election it has been. Before helping Trump, Ricketts was part of a super PAC that spent more than any other trying to stop him from winning the Republican nomination. Ricketts lives in Chicago and is a small business owner and board member of TD Ameritrade, which his billionaire father founded. Trump’s team is turning its attention to economic positions in the administration, including the Department of Commerce.)

— Illinois official Michael Theodore: It’s legal for Grubhub to fire Trump voters  (DIERSEN: From what I see, under the Democrats and under the RINOs, ever-increasingly, employers do NOT want you if you are Protestant, conservative, Republican, American, White, male, older, non-poor, gun owner, German American, draft avoider, married, overweight, and/or if your ancestors have been in America for a long time.)
http://dupagepolicyjournal.com/stories/511046468-illinois-official-it-s-legal-for-grubhub-to-fire-trump-voters
(FROM THE ARTICLE: In the wake of Election Day, GrubHub CEO Matt Maloney wrote and sent out a mass email to his thousands of employees concerning the election of Donald Trump and their party affiliation and support. In the email, he asks that Trump supporters submit letters of resignation. “If you do not agree with this statement, then please reply to this email with your resignation because you have no place here,” Maloney wrote in the email. Maloney openly had offered strong support for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, and in the email, he made negative remarks about Trump, calling his comments on immigrants “demeaning, insulting.” “I want to be clear that this behavior — and these views — have no place at GrubHub,” Maloney said in the email. So the question is: Can someone be hired or fired for supporting a political candidate, or for their general party affiliation and support? Is that discrimination? Michael Theodore, of the Illinois Department of Human Rights, offered an answer. “Political affiliation is not a protected class under the Illinois Human Rights Act,” Theodore told Chicago City Wire. Theodore said classes protected in Illinois under state law include “race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, military status, order of protection status, marital status, sexual orientation, pregnancy, unfavorable military discharge, and physical and mental disability.” Thus, Maloney’s email to GrubHub’s employees is not considered discrimination, and employees can ultimately be hired or fired based on their political affiliation, Theodore said. “The department investigates charges on a case-by-case basis,” Theodore noted, inregard to workplace-discrimination cases. Kent Sezer, attorney for Neal and Leroy LLC, commented on Maloney’s email and told Chicago City Wire that nothing explicitly prevents private employers from discriminating against employees due to their political beliefs. “In general, private-sector employers may discriminate on the basis of political belief. The First Amendment applies only to public employees,” Sezer said. GrubHub falls under the classification of a public business because they have company stocks that can be traded by and with the public. Since the email, the mobile-food company’s stock price has dropped 5 percent. However, the email Maloney wrote and sent could impact GrubHub negatively and legally, Sezer said. “If the person is actually doing a good job, but happens to have voted the wrong way, the company risks being found guilty of violating one of the myriad laws that protect people in the workplace,” Sezer said. For management-side employees, Sezer recommends that they distance themselves from engaging in or promoting such political opinions at work. In addition, Sezer said it is always best to protect the interests of the company when firing an individual “by documenting the work-related reasons for the discharge.” “The bottom line is that although it is theoretically possible to fire someone in the private sector based on political belief, it would be risky,” Sezer said. In GrubHub’s email, Maloney did not explicitly fire any individuals, but he made it very clear that Trump supporters are not welcome. “I absolutely reject the nationalist, anti-immigrant and hateful politics of Donald Trump and will work to shield our community from this movement as best I can,” Maloney said in the email. Since the incident, there have been numerous Twitter and other social media followers of GrubHub calling for boycotts against the company. Based in Chicago, GrubHub has been in business since 2004. In addition to offices across the U.S., GrubHub also has offices in London and serves an average of over 200,000 daily food orders.)

USA TODAY
— Risky routes could be newest car insurance rate factor – Alex Glenn  (DIERSEN: Because I spend 10+ hours each and every day putting GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails together and sending them out, I drive my 2016 Ford Mustang, 2013 Dodge Charger R/T Max, 2005 Chevy Corvette, 1996 Ford Thunderbird LX, and 1972 Chevy Corvette very little and only on safe roads on beautiful days and never during the winter.)
http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/personalfinance/2016/11/14/route-risk-patent–car-insurance-rate-price/93287372/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Putting a price tag on car insurance has always been something of a guessing game. Insurers can’t monitor your driving 24/7, so they set rates using predictive factors such as your age and crash history. But some insurers have drawn up plans for analyzing risk that may change how they charge for auto insurance. Allstate recently became the latest insurer to file a patent application for a new pricing system that charges customers based on the riskiness of each trip — joining competitors such as State Farm and Travelers Insurance.  Using sophisticated tracking technology, in the future companies could customize drivers’ rates for each trip according to the roads they choose, the weather conditions and the number of passengers, among other factors. Drivers could check the recommended “cheapest,” aka less risky, route via smartphone or other device. While it remains to be seen what specific technology emerges, companies are signaling how auto insurance pricing might evolve with these patent applications. Choosing which road to take will become a bigger decision. For most drivers, getting from point A to point B doesn’t take much thought. But under trip-based insurance, you’d have to navigate more carefully — or potentially pay more for the outing. Allstate’s patent application proposes assigning “risk values” to stretches of road based on information such as accident patterns, geographic traits, weather and more. For example, turning left at an intersection could be deemed riskier than going straight based on the accident history at that intersection. Road segments with higher risk values would carry higher insurance costs. The goal is to “promote and reward risk mitigation” among customers, according to the patent. In essence, you could end up planning trips based on how much you’re willing to spend. Instead of buying car insurance in six- or 12-month policies, you’d buy “risk units” and ration them however you see fit.)

DENVER POST
— Easy retirement for Americans? It’s only for a privileged few. – AP  (DIERSEN: What is your attitude toward those who are in line to get a pension or are getting a pension?  My envy-filled critics/opponents, their envy-filled operatives, and their envy-filled dupes a) have been furious since 1966 that I started earning credits toward a Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) pension in 1966 when I was 18 years old and b) have been furious since 1997 when I started receiving a CSRS pension in 1997 when I was 49 years old. My envy-filled critics/opponents, their envy-filled operatives, and their envy-filled dupes who are not past or present federal employees or retirees have not and will not seek a job with the federal government a) because the pay and benefits are terrible, b) because the advancement opportunities are terrible, c) because they lack required education, work experience, professional certifications, and/or professional licenses, d) because they cannot pass an employment examination, e) because they cannot pass a background investigation, f) because they cannot pass a physical examination, g) because they cannot take the demonization, denigration, and condemnation that comes with being a federal employee or federal retiree, and/or h) because they are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran and they know that the federal government discriminates against its employees who are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran.)

— For Working Americans, Staying Put is Best Bet  (DIERSEN: With only the rarest of exceptions, the longer that you are a federal employee, the more difficult that it is for you to get a job that is appropriate for someone with your education, work experience, professional certifications, professional licenses, etc. outside of the federal government.  When my Democrat GAO superiors succeeded in forcing me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, I had worked for GAO for almost 18 years, for IRS for almost 9 years, and for the Post Office for almost 3 years.  Virtually all employers and virtually everyone else have extremely low opinions of current and former federal employees.  Most despise current and former federal employees and many hate current and former federal employees. I should write a book about those in Wheaton, in Glen Ellyn, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois who hate current and former federal employees.)
