I had just been hired by IRS and my employee manual encouraged me to take graduate business courses. Starting in 1972, I took and deducted one graduate evening business course at a time at Loyola and I earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976. But in 1978, my Democrat IRS superiors disallowed those 16 courses. They intentionally ignored what I had stated in my application. They argued that the courses a) did not maintain or improve my job skills, b) were not related to my job duties, c) were taken by me to get a job in the private sector, d) qualified me for a new trade or business, and e) were a distraction. I appealed to Tax Court and won. My Democrat IRS superiors would not have disallowed the courses if I had been a Democrat, minority, female, or veteran.
