POLITICO ILLINOIS
— FIRST IN PLAYBOOK: A supporter of Republican Peter Breen is headed to court today to file a lawsuit against Breen’s opponent, Democratic Rep. Terra Costa Howard. Salvatore Falbo claims Costa Howard concealed $160,000 in contributions from the Democratic Party of Illinois State Committee, which is funded by party leader Michael Madigan. The filing obtained by Playbook says Costa Howard claimed instead the funds were from a federal committee, which Madigan isn’t connected to. The filing ( https://www.politico.com/f/?id=00000175-52e1-d987-ab7f-d6f70cd40000 ) also states Costa Howard “did not report over $5,000 of in-kind campaign contributions from Planned Parenthood Illinois Action PAC.”… Breen and Costa Howard are in a fierce rematch for the 48th House District. Last week, Costa Howard filed a complaint claiming Breen was the one not complying with campaign disclosure laws. – Shia Kapos (DIERSEN: I first leaned of this from Shia Kapos’ email. My critics/opponents who lead the Milton Township Republican Organization and Milton Township do not want anyone to first learn of anything from GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails. They blame me and my GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails for all of their problems, for all of your problems, for all of my problems, and for all of everyone’s problems. They do everything that they can a) to stop me from sending out GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails and b) to stop everyone from reading those emails. They want everyone to spend all their time on Facebook.)

https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/economy/reports/2020/10/23/492209/public-work-provides-economic-security-black-families-communities/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Public sector work has been a rare source of opportunity and security for African Americans in the U.S. economy for generations. Employment with numerous federal, state, and local government agencies throughout the 20th century not only offered a leg up to millions of Black families, but also became so identified with a path to the middle class that they hold cultural significance to many Black Americans. Government jobs alone, obviously, cannot solve structural racism. But in an economy where structural racism denies Black workers economic opportunities and economic security—which has amplified the racial wealth gap throughout U.S. history and today—public work has a long tradition of benefiting many Black families who serve their communities. Whether in the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), which has a legacy of anti-racist hiring dating back to Reconstruction; the military, which led the public and private sector in integration; the federal civil service; or state and local governments, public sector jobs have offered a refuge from employment discrimination all too common in the private sector. Today, nearly 1 in 5 Black workers are employed in the public sector.)
