— Father Kalchik Removed Following Recent Flag Burning Controversy, Threats – Mary Ann Ahern (DIERSEN: My Democrat GAO superiors removed me in 1997 when I was 49 years old.)
https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/father-kalchik-removed-following-recent-controversy-threats-sources-say-494047531.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: It was revealed just this week that a rainbow pride flag, that had hung in the church sanctuary, was burned outside the church 10 days ago. “There have been death threats against him and even his elderly parents, and lots of threats of vandalism to the Church,” the primary source said. That source believes it’s best Kalchik is removed for his safety. As of Saturday evening, the Archdiocese has not responded to NBC 5’s request for a comment on Kalchik’s removal.)

DAILY HERALD
— Cadre of GOP insiders getting big salaries at Illinois tollway – Marni Pyke (DIERSEN: My Democrat IRS and GAO superiors treated me like I was part of a plot to stop them from hiring, retaining, and promoting young Democrat minorities and young Democrat females. They knew that my wife had helped elect Jim Thompson. They were fully aware of the arguments that Thompson and Jim Edgar made in Rutan that government employers should be allowed to engage in political affiliation discrimination (SEE: http://www.nytimes.com/1996/03/13/us/seeking-return-to-ways-of-patronage-in-politics.html).)
https://www.dailyherald.com/news/20180922/cadre-of-gop-insiders-getting-big-salaries-at-illinois-tollway
(FROM THE ARTICLE: All six positions are Rutan-exempt, meaning it’s allowable to hire someone with political affiliations. The term stems from a lawsuit filed against former Republican Gov. James Thompson over political hiring. The tollway has a history of hiring and awarding contracts to political insiders under Democratic and Republican governors. Former Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich, imprisoned on corruption charges, was charged with strong-arming a construction company for donations and taking contributions from a contractor. State Rep. Jeanne Ives, a conservative Republican from Wheaton, has criticized the hiring of Gorman and Durkin. Of the other staffers, Ives said it’s reasonable for leadership to want “people who are aligned with you politically and you see eye-to-eye with. But it has to be disappointing to folks who’ve worked at the tollway a long time and have more institutional knowledge not to be given the opportunity.”)
