CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Proposed DuPage budget calls for salary cuts to cover state revenue loss – Gary Gibula  (DIERSEN: During the 1980s and 1990s, the Democrats who ran GAO used budget cuts, Affirmative Action, Diversity, and Inclusion to get rid of their employees who were Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/naperville-sun/news/ct-nvs-proposed-dupage-budget-st-0927-20170926-story.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: DuPage County employee salaries would be cut by up to 4 percent to compensate for a $2.7 million loss in state revenue under a budget proposed Tuesday by board Chairman Dan Cronin. The reductions are necessary to ensure that property taxes don’t increase under the 2017-18 spending plan, Cronin told county board members. “This has been an exceedingly difficult year,” he said. “I don’t know if people expect this from year to year, but we have a unique brand of government here. We do more with less.” Among the revenue cuts from the state are 10 percent less from the Local Government Distributive Fund, 2 percent less from the administrative fee on Regional Transportation Authority sales tax and a reduction in the Personal Property Replacement tax. Cronin and his finance team are asking all county departments to make across-the-board salary reductions in lieu of laying off staff.)

http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20170926/news/309269931/

He left his homeland in December with the intention of seeking U.S. asylum, but immigration agents took him into custody at O’Hare International Airport. He has remained behind bars during the proceedings. Attorney Sandra Grossman anticipated that Yee, in custody at a county jail outside Chicago, could be released at “any time.” “We welcome the board’s decision and we welcome it because it’s a decision that’s grounded in law and in fact,” she said. “He was persecuted because of political beliefs.”)
