They stressed a) that I had been the office’s only active member in a class action lawsuit that charged my GAO superiors with reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation, b) that my job and my preferred corner office could be given to my Black subordinate if I retired, c) that I could “afford” to suffer a dramatic reduction in my Civil Service Retirement System pension for the rest of my life, d) that I had complained about political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, and age discrimination since I transferred from IRS to GAO in 1980, e) that my demographics did not help GAO meet any of its Affirmative Action, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion quotas, goals, and targets, f) that I had not been promoted to GS-14 and that my promotions to GS-13, GS-12, and GS-11 had been delayed, g) that I had to take a $21,863/year (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars, that is, a downgrade from GS-12 Step 5 to GS-9 Step 10, to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980, h) that GAO had forced its GS-15 manager to retire in 1987 who had promoted me to GS-13 in 1986, who had gotten me assigned to audits of IRS in 1986, and who had arranged for the aforesaid transfer, i) that GAO had always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, and j) that they were confident that my Republican U.S. Senator and my Republican U.S. Representative would not come to my defense.
