— Pritzker is seeking a third term in next week’s general election. If he wins, which the polling strongly suggests, he will be the first Democrat to be elected three times to the office. Standing in his way is Republican Bailey, the downstate farmer and former Illinois lawmaker who lost to Pritzker in the race for governor four years ago. Pritzker, the billionaire incumbent, spent millions during the 2022 Republican primary to boost Bailey’s profile, effectively urging Republican voters to choose a candidate Pritzker could easily defeat in the general election.

— Cindy Bailey fires back at Pritzker.
https://www.politico.com/newsletters/illinois-playbook/2026/10/28/cindy-bailey-fires-back-at-pritzker-01138034
(FROM THE NEWSLETTER: Cindy Bailey, the wife of Republican gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey, held her own press conference Tuesday to criticize Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker’s attacks on her husband, accusing him of unfairly portraying his character and views on women. “Governor, you have crossed a line from criticizing his positions and misrepresenting his character, and I will not let that go unanswered,” Bailey said. She pointed to her nearly 40-year marriage to Darren, and their life together raising four children, running a family farm and building businesses, including her own floral shop, as proof that her husband values women. “Through every chapter, Darren treated me as his partner and valued my opinions and the work that I did,” she said. “I know his heart, I know his character, and I know how he treats women because I’m the woman who has shared life with him,” she added. Pritzker’s campaign has attacked Bailey over his conservative views and aired a TV ad accusing Bailey of saying women are inferior to men and opposing abortion access. Darren Bailey’s campaign has countered that the governor is misrepresenting his beliefs and personal character. The timing: Cindy Bailey’s appearance came as the race for governor enters its final stretch, with Pritzker making female voters a central focus of his campaign. On Tuesday evening, the Democratic incumbent held a Women in the Fight event to show his support for women’s issues, including access to reproductive care. His campaign also emailed messaging calling Darren Bailey “an extremist with a dangerous anti-choice record.” At-home issues: Cindy Bailey said the attacks also disparage women who choose to stay home with their children. “A woman’s worth is not determined by whether she works in an office, runs a business, or stays home with her children,” she said, sounding like a candidate herself. When asked if she might one day run for office, Bailey said, “Never say never.” The comments turned emotional when Bailey spoke about motherhood and the family’s grief after the deaths last year of family members in a helicopter crash. “I carry that love and that loss with me every day,” she said, adding that the experience had taught her to treasure time with loved ones and remember that people may be carrying burdens others cannot see. Bailey then pivoted to the financial pressures facing families, from child care and groceries to electricity bills and unexpected car repairs — And challenged Pritzker to address those concerns rather than tell women to fear her husband.)

— Political consultants who want Republican candidates to lose on November 3, 2026 justify their telling them to not speak against socialism by claiming that voters who are the following want socialism: liberal/moderate, minority, female, younger, unmarried, LGBTQ, non-rich, non-Protestant, non-German American, have ancestors who have not been in America for a long time, and/or are in America illegally. To vote for Democrats is to vote for socialism. – Dave Diersen
http://www.gopillinois.com
— To vote for Democrats is to vote for socialism. How strongly are the Republican candidates on the ballot in your precinct stressing that? How strongly are they stressing the benefits of capitalism and the negatives of socialism? How strongly are they stressing how they have benefitted from capitalism? Capitalism motivated me and enabled me to work my way through college and earn a) a job-related bachelor’s degree when I was 21 in 1970, b) job-related master’s degrees in 1976, 1980, and 1997, c) job-related professional certifications in 1979, 1981, 1990, 1994, 1996, and 1997, and d) a job-related professional license in 1981. That enabled me to a) buy a 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air in 1964, b) buy new cars in 1966, 1967, 1968, 1971, 1973, 1978, etc., c) buy real estate in 1972, 1974, 1976, 1978, and 1984, d) get married in 1978, e) buy collector cars in 1989 and 1994, d) etc. Under socialism, I would not have had the aforesaid motivation or accomplishments because under socialism, all you need to do to advance is be a good little socialist. – Dave Diersen

— Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform. The Republican Party platform is conservative. The Republican Party exists to defend and advance conservative principles. The Democrat Party exists to defend and advance liberal principles, and now, also, ever-increasingly, socialism. Why do people get involved in Republican politics? Far too many become Republican precinct committeemen, Republican party leaders, Republican candidates, Republican elected officials, and/or Republican major donors for destructive reasons. Those destructive reasons include getting the party to officially dump conservative planks in its platform, most commonly, its personal responsibility, traditional marriage and family, right to life, immigration, anti-vice, Second Amendment, and/or equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving) planks. The aforesaid people are anti-conservatives, if not RINOs, if not Democrat plants. I should write about the aforesaid who have worked the hardest to destroy the Illinois Republican Party, DuPage County Republican Central Committee, and Milton Township Republican Organization since 2000. I would focus on those who have had the most success in doing that. – Dave Diersen

I should write about my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes. I would focus on those who a) ended my Illinois Republican Party (IRP) State Convention Platform and Resolutions Committee membership in 2024, b) ended my service as the Republican fundraiser for Wheaton Independence Day parades and fireworks in 2021, c) gerrymandered my precinct in 2015, d) ended my TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois chairmanship in 2012, e) ended my Illinois Center Right Coalition (ICRC) Steering Committee membership 2007, f) almost got ICRC to censure me for my newsletters in 2006, g) ended my Milton Township Republican Organization (MTRO) webmaster service in 2010 and 2004, and h) defeated my bid for the open MTRO Treasurer position in 2004 by a vote of 69 to 13. – Dave Diersen

(FROM GOOGLE AI: Federal employment serves as a highly competitive asset in college graduate admissions, functioning as a major evaluation factor primarily through the lens of professional experience, demonstrated public service, and specialized technical expertise.
Depending on the specific graduate discipline (such as an MPA, MPP, MBA, or JD), admissions committees evaluate a background in federal service using several key criteria: 1. Proof of “Specialized Experience” and Leadership. • Analytical and Policy Skills: Holding a federal role usually implies experience navigating complex regulatory environments, writing briefs, or managing public data. Admissions committees view this as a direct indicator that you can handle rigorous, advanced academic research. • The GS Scale Proxy: For programs that evaluate the depth of professional tenure, your General Schedule (GS) level serves as a proxy for professional advancement. Reaching mid-to-senior levels (such as GS-9 through GS-12+) signals to admissions boards that you have managed projects, supervised personnel, or held significant institutional accountability.)
— What would you have done differently if your parents had more money? I would have studied more and that would have increased my ACT score and my Crete-Monee High School, UIC, and NIU GPAs. I would not have had to a) do yard work 1962-1964, b) deliver newspapers 1962-1966, c) wash dishes 1964-1966, d) clean golf shoes, chip slag, and pump gasoline in 1966, e) deliver mail 1966-1969, or f) work on an automotive assemble line in 1970. I might have gotten scholarships. I would have majored in accounting at UIC and NIU. I would gotten a much better job when I graduated from NIU in 1970. – Dave Diersen
