NOTE: My newsletters starting last Thursday morning have had fewer links to articles in them because my very expensive doorstep home delivery subscriptions to the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Daily Herald, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Naperville Sun newspapers have stopped.

FROM ILLINOIS CENTER-LEFT SOURCES

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— DD: Democrat leaders ever-increasingly a) blame Republicans for the problems that Black students have and b) give more preference to Black students.

— State Department slashes fee to renounce US citizenship by 80% to $450. DD: From what I see, more and more and more of those who come to America do so a) because want to take advantage of the tremendous benefits that Democrat and RINO leaders give them, b) because they want to turn America into their motherland, and/or c) because they want to convert everyone in America to their religion.

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES

DAILY HERALD
—  DD: Political parties should have the power to stop candidates from running for offices as members of their party. Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform. The Republican Party platform is conservative. Candidates can run as Independents.

CITIES 92.9
— Early voting, vote-by-mail numbers trend higher as Illinois primary approaches. DD: How many have voted so far in your county, in your township, in your municipality, and in your precinct? How many Democrat, Republican, and NA ballots have been cast so far? Who does not want the aforesaid information to be reported and why?
https://www.cities929.com/2026/03/13/early-voting-vote-by-mail-numbers-trend-higher-as-illinois-primary-approaches/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Early voting numbers are trending up in Illinois before the state’s primary elections Tuesday. Illinois State Board of Elections Public Information Officer Matt Dietrich told The Center Square on Friday that about 250,000 early votes had been cast, slightly higher than the state reported before the 2022 midterm. Dietrich said he is seeing a strong response on vote by mail. “In 2022 we had about 275,000 vote-by-mail ballots cast for the primary. We’re already at 290,000, and we’ll have quite a few of those coming in now and up until two weeks after Election Day that will still be added to that count,” Dietrich said. Dietrich said the state does not track partisan turnout in its pre-election reporting, but Illinois generally sees more Democratic ballots than Republican ballots in primaries. “I would expect that to continue this year, mainly because, first of all, you have a very hotly-contested U.S. Senate race,” Dietrich said. Dietrich said open congressional seats would also draw voters. The Chicago Board of Elections reported more than 123,000 ballots received as of Thursday night, up from under 71,000 five days before the 2022 primary. The Chicago board would not provide a breakdown of votes by party without a Freedom of Information Act request.)

BUSINESS INSIDER
— Public Sector vs. Private Sector. DD: I spent almost 30 years working in the public sector. In today’s dollars, my ending salary in 1997 was $154,682/year. I should write about my critics/opponents in the private sector. According to them, I was grossly overpaid and if my career had been in the private sector, I never would have earned as much money as I did. In my defense, I earned a job-related bachelor’s degree (management), three job-related master’s degrees (business, accounting, and finance), six job-related professional certifications (accounting, internal auditing, fraud examination, government financial management, financial services auditing, and forensic accounting), and a job-related professional license (CPA). In my defense, I spent the last 18 years of public sector career working for a federal agency (GAO) that shank from more than 6,000 employees to less than 3,000 employees because of Republican-led budget cuts. The agency was almost always under promotion freezes.

HIRING LAB
— Educational Requirements Are Gradually Disappearing From Job Postings. Amid growing support for skills-first hiring practices, employers are becoming less likely to require formal education credentials for jobs. DD: Because of ever-increasing pressure to hire, retain, and promote young minorities and young females, my job-related bachelor’s degree, my three job-related master’s degrees, my six job-related professional certifications, and my job-related professional license ever-increasingly became worthless.

HR EXECUTIVE
— EEOC puts Fortune 500 on notice over DEI. DD: When I graduated from NIU with a bachelor’s degree in management when I was 21 in 1970, I applied to many fortune 500 firms. Only Firestone Stores offered me a job, and it was for a job that really did not require a college degree. All the firms that I applied to were under tremendous pressure from EEOC to hire minorities, females, and veterans. I was not a minority, female, or veteran. To make matters worse, potential employers saw me as being Vietnam War draft bait. They did not believe that my financial hardship draft deferment application would be approved. Beyond that, my GPA was not that great because I had spent far too many hours delivering mail instead of studying to work my way through college.

CPA JOURNAL
— Glass Ceiling Shattered?  Audit Partner Gender Diversity Within Accounting Firms. DD: Choosing the right college major is extremely important. I should have majored in accounting from the beginning, but I did not until I was 27 in 1976 when I started taking graduate evening accounting courses at DePaul. I passed the CPA examination on my first attempt when I was 30. I earned a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul when I was 31. I passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt when I was 32. I became a licensed CPA when I was 32. But by then, the accounting profession had no interest in me a) because it viewed me as being too old and b) because my demographics were terrible. The profession was under tremendous pressure to advance minorities and females. Why didn’t I major in accounting from the beginning? I erroneously believed that because I was not strong in math, I could never pass the CPA examination. But I belatedly came to realize that accountants do not use the types of math that I was not strong in.
