But my Democrat GAO superiors had made it clear that if did not retire, they would make the next 6 years until I would be eligible for regular retirement a living hell for me. They promised to demote me and to give me adverse transfers, bad job assignments, unfair performance expectations and evaluations, and even worse things. They could easily do that because GAO was not unionized.
