(FROM THE ARTICLE: It comes as the party controls both of Indiana’s U.S. Senate seats, seven of the state’s nine congressional districts, has supermajorities in both chambers of the General Assembly and holds more than 90% of county-elected offices across the state. It also controls the governor’s office, and numerous Republicans are vying for the nomination to replace GOP Gov. Eric Holcomb, who cannot run again because of term limits. In 2019, 19 mayoral offices in Indiana flipped to Republicans, including in many Democratic strongholds such as Kokomo and Muncie. “The Indiana Republican Party is strong. And I believe that if we continue to deliver results that matter, Hoosiers will continue to place their trust in us and elect and reelect Republicans long into the future,” Hupfer said.)

MCHENRY COUNTY BLOG
— Illinois Republican Party State Central Committee Meets without Drama of No Confidence Vote Against Chairman Don Tracy – John Lopez
https://mchenrycountyblog.com/2023/08/19/ilrscc/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: On Thursday, August 17, Republican Day at the Illinois State Fair took place. The various festivities by the Illinois Republican Party State Central Committee (SCC), the governing body for Illinois Republicans under the leadership of Chairman Don Tracy included the August meeting of the SCC, where Tracy met with the 17 Republican state central committeepersons, the governing body of the Illinois Republican Party, plus various elected and appointed Republican officials. But unlike the last SCC meeting in April, when a “no confidence” vote on Chairman Don Tracy was called for and taken in executive session, and written up in several publications including McHenry County Blog, no such action was taken at the August SCC meeting, the first time the SCC met since April. Indeed, in the run-up to Thursday’s SCC meeting, there wasn’t even talk about a no confidence vote against Chairman Tracy, given the results of last November’s general election and the results of the April 4 elections went against conservative/grassroots candidates (with the exception of McHenry County-based School District 158). So has the grassroots conservatives given up on replacing Chairman Tracy? Or was all this talk of a grassroots conservative rebellion against Chairman Tracy just that, talk with a signal boost from Illinois Review? Or is it something else? It’s definitely something else going on, and here is what I’ve been able to piece together. As was written elsewhere, SCC Chairman Tracy formed a “Grassroots Task Force” of the SCC and tapped 14th Congressional District SCC Member Larry Smith, who’s the LaSalle County Republican Party chairman to lead the Grassroots Task Force. 8th Congressional District SCC Member Dean White of St. Charles was appointed as a co-chair/vice-chair, but the leader is Smith. From mid spring to late July, grassroots activists have been meeting with Smith and White to organize this SCC Grassroots Task Force into something productive, and not be a failed “outreach” effort as so many SCC initiatives became in the past. Political consultant Mr. Val Ojeda, who also publishes a blog he launched last December called The Illinois Republican, took a leading role to help Grassroots Task Force Chairman Smith organize the SCC Grassroots Task Force, including naming its members from among the grassroots. Ojeda stressed how it was important all sections of Illinois be represented on the Grassroots Task Force, meaning members from Chicago, Chicagoland suburbs/exurbs and downstate. In a July 27 op-ed on The Illinois Republican, Ojeda published three appointments to the Illinois Republican Party’s Grassroots Task Force, the first being the Illinois Freedom Alliance, which is based out of Moline and includes activists Annette Parchert, Nancy Hayes, Jennifer Luebbers, George Weckbacher and others. So the Moline-based Illinois Freedom Alliance represents downstate. Representing the city of Chicago is Christine Shanahan McGovern (R, Mt. Greenwood), who unsuccessfully ran for the state senate last fall, losing a close race to 5-term incumbent state Senator Bill Cunningham (D, Beverly).)
