WASHINGTON EXAMINER
— The one-income, middle-class household is a historical myth. DD: I was raised in a one-income household. My father never earned more than $50,000/year in today’s dollars. He died suddenly when he was 47 and I was 21. I had to work my way through college.

— The college degree was a signal. Now it’s just noise. DD: All my coworkers who my Democrat superiors in the federal government promoted over me were Democrats who a) had less education than I had, b) had less work experience than I had, c) had no professional certifications or fewer than I had, and/or d) no professional license like the one I had.

(FROM THE ARTICLE: As college students across the country prepare for their final exams, many assume they’re entering a job market eager to receive them. But the latest data tell a harsher truth: Americans with bachelor’s degrees now make up a record 25% of the unemployed, up from under 10% three decades ago. And for those ages 20 to 24 — the very students heading toward commencement — unemployment has climbed to 9.2%, a year-over-year spike not seen outside recessions. For many parents, these statistics land like a betrayal. They followed the script they were handed, and they urged their children to do the same: work hard, pad the résumé, secure admission, earn the degree. They were assured the payoff would be waiting on the other side. Instead, the very credential that students were promised would open doors for them is now failing even to keep those doors from closing in their faces.)

— Trump’s Mr. Fix it: Scott Bessent set to tackle affordability crisis. DD: What stopped you from earning more money during your career? For me, it was my Democrat superiors in the federal government who wasted my career and forced me to retire when I was 49 in 1997. They wasted what I had learned a) earning a job-related bachelor’s degree and three job-related master’s degrees, b) earning six job-related professional certifications, c) earning a job-related professional license, d) working for the Post Office for almost 3 years, e) working for IRS for almost 9 years, and f) working for GAO for almost 18 years.

— Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker recently signed legislation rewriting the state’s scholarship rules—and abruptly ending a decades-old race-exclusive program. The change will moot a lawsuit led by a student member of the American Alliance for Equal Rights and represented by the Pacific Legal Foundation at no cost. The law, House Bill 3065, which took effect November 21, struck racial classifications from scholarship eligibility in Illinois.
