— Candidates need skillsets, not skeletons in the closet. DD: Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform. The Republican Party platform is conservative. Voters demand more from Republican candidates than from Democrat candidates. They demand even more from Republican candidates who state that they are conservative. Candidates can always run as Independents. Should political parties have the power to stop candidates from seeking offices as a member of their party? If so, what criteria should be used? Far too many candidates have tremendous skeletons in their closets. When those skeletons come out, not only do they lose, but the party that they ran under loses.
