COLUMBIAN
— Community must have voice in selecting trustees – Willy Cushwa
https://www.columbian.com/news/2020/feb/23/local-view-community-must-have-voice-in-selecting-trustees/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Candidates would have to publicly explain and defend their qualifications, positions on issues, and vision for the college — which doesn’t happen in the current selection process. Improved communication with constituents would also be necessary during a term of service, especially if a trustee sought re-election. I suspect that local reporters and community members would appreciate a more direct way to obtain information and answers to questions, instead of relying on public record requests. I have no doubts that the current and former Clark College Trustees are educated, professionally experienced, and committed to the community. However, I believe the more pertinent question is “Are they the most qualified and suitable individuals to guide the college and oversee its operations?”)

BUSINESS AM LIVE
— How essential are certificates and degrees today? – Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso (DIERSEN: If I had not had a high school diploma, the Post Office would not have hired me in 1966. If I had not had a bachelor’s degree in management, Firestone Stores would not have hired me in 1970, Oldsmobile would not have offered me a job in 1971, and IRS would not have hired me in 1971. If I had not been taking graduate business courses, IRS might not have promoted me in 1972, 1973, and 1974. If I had not earned an MBA and passed the CPA examination on my first attempt, GAO would not have hired me in 1980. If I had not earned a master’s degree in accounting and passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt, GAO would not have promoted me in 1986. If I had not been taking graduate finance courses and earned a master’s degree in finance, GAO would have succeeded in forcing me to retire earlier than it did.)
