During 1974 IRS filing season, as a 25-year-old GS-11 (currently $80,994/year) IRS Revenue Officer, I supervised all of the IRS employees, which included a rotating staff of about 90 IRS Revenue Agent trainees, in IRS’s new downtown Chicago office who answered taxpayer questions using IRS’s new CentiPhone system. Because of my job performance, the IRS manager who had given me the job and who had promoted me in 1972 and 1973 promoted me to GS-12 (currently $97,079/year). But my Democrat IRS superiors soon got rid of him because they were beyond furious that he given me the Centiphone job and that he had promoted me instead of an IRS employee who was Democrat, minority, and/or veteran. To get rid of me, they disallowed my travel vouchers (SEE: https://www.gao.gov/products/b-180010.11 ). They made it very clear that they would never promote me to GS-13 even though I earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976 and passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979. They disallowed my education deductions in 1978. They took the aforesaid adverse actions against me not only for the aforesaid reasons, but because I had complained about their ever-increasingly giving more and more and more preference to their Democrat employees who were minority, female, younger, and/or veteran. The aforesaid adverse actions were a big reason why I took a $22,996/year (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer to GAO in 1980. GAO claimed to be nonpartisan. In 1986, after I had earned a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul in 1980 and passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt and became a licensed CPA in 1981, the GAO manager who arranged my transfer finally succeed in getting me assigned to audits of IRS and in promoting me to GS-13. But because of that, my Democrat GAO superiors got rid of him in 1987.)
