CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
— Illinois Democratic Party rallies against Vice President Mike Pence in Rosemont – Rachel Hinton
https://chicago.suntimes.com/news/supporters-protesters-rosemont-pence-tax-cut-speech/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The new Illinois Democratic Party executive director rallied protesters in Rosemont on Friday in advance of a speech by Vice President Mike Pence touting President Donald Trump’s tax-cut policy. Pence’s speech, titled “Tax Cuts to Put America First,” is part of a series sponsored by America First Policies, a non-profit organization that promotes the policies of the Trump Administration — the Rosemont stop is the 17th on the tour. Other speakers at the event included U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., and Gov. Bruce Rauner, who was to introduce Pence. At previous speeches in Iowa and Kansas City, Pence talked about energy, agriculture and labor plans that were all implemented to achieve Trump’s campaign promise to “Make America great again.” In Rosemont, people from around the state, decked out in flag shawls and bright red “Make America Great Again” baseball caps, waited to hear from the vice president.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Once again, a public agency, without bothering to clue in the taxpayers, is throwing money at a top employee as he heads out the door. This time, on Thursday, it was the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. The agency that handles our local storm and sewage water agreed to pay $95,000 to its former executive director, David St. Pierre, along with six months’ worth of health insurance, according to the Better Government Association. The vote came two weeks after St. Pierre resigned, and seven weeks after he quietly went on paid leave.)

DAILY HERALD
— Pence fires up voters for upcoming midterm elections – Christopher Placek and Jake Griffin
http://www.dailyherald.com/news/20180713/pence-fires-up-voters-for-upcoming-midterm-elections
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Almost immediately after Pence took the stage, protesters inside the Westin O’Hare grand ballroom made their presence known. In total, Pence’s speech was interrupted five times by protesters, who were escorted out of the building by police. One woman held a yellow flag that read, “Trump and Pence must go.” When Pence began to praise U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam, of Wheaton, a man said, “Has anyone seen Peter Roskam? I haven’t seen him. Where is he?” Each time, the crowd of about 600 chanted “USA! USA!” Tickets to the event, called “Tax Cuts to Put America First,” were free and available by registering on the website of America First Policies, the group connected to the pro-Trump America First Action super PAC. “Thanks for coming out today. I’m really grateful for almost everybody that came,” Pence joked to the crowd. “I respect everybody that came. That’s what freedom sounds like.” Rosemont authorities said no one was charged, and they described the protest of some 100 people outside the hotel as peaceful. Police, at the behest of the Secret Service, pushed protesters across River Road to the east sidewalk northeast of the hotel. Rosemont public safety officers used their bikes as crowd control. Pence’s caravan used a back entrance, avoiding the protesters. “We are advocating getting rid of the Trump/Pence regime through persistent, persistent nonviolent protests,” said Tricey Morelli, spokesman for the Chicago chapter of Refuse Fascism.)

It certainly appears that my critics/opponents are paying them less than $15/hour. Nevertheless, they have made it very clear that if they had been qualified to take the jobs that I took, they would not have taken them. The jobs that I took are beneath them. I did yard work and delivered newspapers 1962-1964; washed dishes 1964-1966; cleaned golf shoes, chipped slag, and pumped gasoline in 1966; delivered mail 1966-1969; worked on an automobile assembly line and as a security guard in 1970; sold tires, automotive services, and major appliances 1970-1971; pumped gasoline 1971-1972; collected delinquent taxes 1971-1980; and audited federal agencies 1980-1997.)
