I earned 1 hour of annual leave and one hour of sick leave for each 20 hours that I worked part-time for the Park Forest Post Office 1966-1969. My working only part-time was treated as though I had worked full-time for federal seniority and for Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) purposes. I earned 20 days of annual leave during each of the almost 9 years that I worked for IRS 1971-1980 and for the first 3 years that I worked for GAO 1980-1983. I earned 26 days of annual leave during each of the almost 15 years that I worked for GAO 1983-1997. I earned 1 hour of sick leave for each 20 hours that I worked part-time for the Park Forest Post Office 1966-1969 and 13 days each year that I worked for IRS 1971-1980 and for GAO 1980-1997. I was paid $16,460 in today’s dollars for my unused annual leave when I retired in 1997 and my many unused sick days were treated as though I had worked those days to increase my CSRS pension. In summary, I earned almost 600 annual leave days and more than 350 sick days while I worked for the federal government for almost 30 years. Of course, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always been beyond furious about the aforesaid.

The city of Chicago is pursuing plans to convert empty office spaces on LaSalle street into affordable housing.” In 1974, when I was 25 years old, I bought a studio condo in the Outer Drive East building immediately after IRS promoted me to a GS-12 (currently $92,279/year) Revenue Officer position in the Loop. I walked to/from that condo and work and graduate business classes at Loyola until 1976 when I traded it in to the building’s developer for a one bedroom condo. I walked to/from that condo and work and graduate accounting courses at DePaul until 1978 when I got married, sold it for a $10,000 gain ($46,645 in today’s dollars), and bought a home in Wheaton with my wife.)

My wife and I almost bought a home in Naperville in 1978. My wife’s brother and his family have lived in Naperville since 1989. One of his four daughters and her family continue to live in Naperville. During the 1990s, I took my 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS and my 1968 Dodge Charger R/T to car shows in Naperville. My wife and I bought an Iron Gate Motor Condo in late Naperville in 2020 and we recently sold it and bought a bigger one. I take my vehicles to Naperville for emissions testing.
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Our mayor won’t stop talking about Naperville. “This City Council meeting is being recorded live from Naperville,” Mayor Johnson said, at the beginning of his first meeting as mayor. At last week’s Netroots Nation convention, he reminded attendees, “We’re not in Naperville.” The mayor was taking a dig at Fox and Friends for airing an interview with two disgruntled Chicago voters on the day of his inauguration: it was conducted at Rosie’s Home Cookin’ — in Naperville. Let’s be real, though: The mayor was also taking a dig at Naperville. It’s become a Chicago tradition. Whenever a Chicagoan complains about the proverbial suburbanite who claims to be from Chicago, it’s always someone “from Naperville.”)
