— FRONT PAGE TOP OF FOLD IN NAPERVILLE SUN: Escalating number of Naperville gun seizures part of ‘disturbing trend,’ DuPage County state’s attorney says – Suzanne Baker
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Berlin said the number of cases of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon in the county has increased 195% in the last three years. In 2022, his office charged 121 unlawful use of a weapon cases, up from 82 in 2021, 69 in 2020 and 41 in 2019, he said. “We see more people, especially felons, who just have no regard for the law whatsoever,” Berlin said. “And it’s as if they feel there’s not going to be consequences, until they get charged in DuPage County and they find out otherwise. “It’s a very disturbing trend,” he said.)

— How Much Members of the US Military Are Paid at Every Pay Grade – Maria Wood (COMMENT: DeSantis made the Navy rank of Lieutenant Commander when he was 28 in 2006. The equivalent civilian GS grade is 12. I made GS-12 in 1974 (currently $92,279/year) when I was a 25-year-old IRS Revenue Officer. I made GS-13 (currently $109,732/year) in 1986 when I was a 38-year-old GAO Analyst. The equivalent Navy rank is Commander. (SEE: ) My ending GAO salary was $142,650/year (GS-13 Step 10) in today’s dollars. According to my critics/opponents, federal employees are failures if they do not make GS-13 by age 25, GS-14 by age 30, GS-15 (currently $129,671/year) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $183,500/year) by age 40. Extremely few federal employees make the aforesaid promotion deadlines. How soon, if not already, will DeSantis’ critics/opponents paint his military career as being a failure, and therefore, that he is a failure? Since 1973 when I turned 25 years old, because I failed to make GS-13, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have demonized me, denigrated me, and condemned me as being a failure. Further, according to them, IRS should not have promoted me to GS-9 in 1972, to GS-11 in 1973, or to GS-12 in 1974 and GAO should not have promoted me to GS-13 in 1986.)

— Soon, if not already, a) 100% of federal employees will be Democrats and b) 100% of them will be most if not virtually all of the following: liberal, minority, female, younger, LGBTQ, disabled, veteran, non-Christian, non-Protestant, non-Italian American, non-German American, those whose ancestors have not been in America for a long time, those who have major financial, health, and/or other problems, and/or those who are citizens of foreign countries.

— Democrats say “Kamala Harris Slams Ron DeSantis’ Ukraine Statement. The likely 2024 GOP presidential candidate referred to Russia’s war in Ukraine as not one of America’s “many vital national interests.” How old are you? I am 74. How have your critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes used the Viet Nam War against you? I should write a book about how my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have used the Viet Nam War and my avoiding the Viet Nam War draft against me.

— Democrats say “The ‘territorial dispute’ that took over the GOP primary.”
— Democrats say “Florida GOP sweats Trump vs. DeSantis.” Which Republican presidential candidate do the following want to win: a) Illinois Republican Party, b) your Republican county party organization, and c) your Republican township/ward party organization?
— Democrats say “Biden becomes increasingly comfortable defying the wishes of his own party.” Biden falsely painted himself as being a centrist to get elected.

— Democrats ever-increasingly encourage Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to hate Republicans.

— Are you a registered Republican voter in DuPage County? If so, who is your Republican Precinct Committeeman? Is he/she elected or an appointed live-in-precinct (LIP) Committeeman? You should ask him/her if the proposed DuPage County Election Division precinct map puts them in the same precinct with one or more other Republican elected or LIP Precinct Committeeman.

By now, elected and LIP DuPage County Republican Precinct Committeemen should have received the proposed precinct map for their township. I have received the proposed Milton Township precinct map. It combines the township’s 130 current precincts into 83 new precincts. As I anticipated, it draws me into the same precinct with Ives like what happened in 2015.

For the new proposed Precinct 9, the north border remains Roosevelt Road, the west border remains the Illinois Prairie Path, the south border is Fairway Lane, and the east border is Naperville Road. All of the expansion comes out of Ives’ Precinct 65.

Of course, one could argue that when two elected or LIP committeemen are drawn into the same precinct, the reason is to get rid of one of them.

My current thinking is that if Ives runs, the precinct is hers; but if she does not run, I will run again.

My current thinking is to try to get the lines for my precinct to be redrawn so that all the expansion is to the west. But I am not optimistic. Things have only gotten worse for me since 2015. Because of that, I do not anticipate that anyone will support my request that the proposed lines for my precinct be redrawn so that all expansion is to the west.

In the 2015 redrawing, Ives was subsequently carved out so we did not have to run against each other, but I lost about 250 voters on the west side of the Prairie Path and I gained about 250 voters east of Warrenville Road in Ives’ old precinct. Since at least 1999 and through 2015, my precinct lines were unchanged and the precinct had about 500 registered voters. But in 2015, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes in the Milton Township Republican Organization and the DuPage County Republican Central Committee falsely told me that precinct border changes that year would only impact precincts that had more than 1,000 registered voters, and that merely, those precincts would be split.

On Tuesday, the DuPage County Finance Committee received a “Draft DuPage County Precinct Map.” To meet the new 1,200 registered voters per precinct state requirement, many committeemen will have to be drawn into a new precinct with each other. Further, larger precincts necessarily mean that more precincts will contain more government districts. My current precinct and the proposed precinct outrageously include voters in three (west, east, and south) of Wheaton’s four districts. If my precinct was extended to the west, that could have been avoided.

I have asked the DuPage County Election Division to provide me with a detailed version of the Milton Township portion of its proposed precinct map. I have asked that it show where the Republican elected and LIP committeemen live. I am told that an attorney who will verify that the maps comply with state law has not yet been selected.

A revised map is scheduled to be presented to the finance committee on April 11, 2023 with a public hearing. That revised map is to be posted on the County Board website for public review and comment. A new map is scheduled to be presented to the finance committee on May 9, 2023. That map is scheduled to be voted on by the County Board on June 13 or 27, 2023. – Dave Diersen
