CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
— With spring, patronage blooms in recorder’s office – Dan Mihalopoulos (DIERSEN: My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always promoted patronage. Because I have always been a Republican, were it not for federal civil service protections, a) the Post Office would NOT have hired me in 1966 or let me work there for almost 3 years, b) IRS would NOT have hired me in 1971 or let me work there for almost 9 years, c) IRS would NOT have promoted me in 1972, 1973, or 1974, d) GAO would NOT have hired me in 1980 or let me work there for almost 18 years, and e) GAO would NOT have promoted me in 1986.)

— Welcome to media, Jay Cutler — your alliance with this Fox looks like winner – David Haugh  (DIERSEN: Who considers you to be their enemy?  Democrats and Democrat plants, Libertarians and Libertarian plants, Greens and Green plants, and RINOs consider me to be their enemy.)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/ct-jay-cutler-media-bears-haugh-spt-0507-20170506-column.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Welcome to the other side, Jay Cutler, to the sports media entity you once considered an enemy now eagerly befriending the former Bears quarterback, the latest reformed NFL bully to regret all the sand he kicked in our faces. An athlete’s 40-yard dash time is nothing compared to how quickly many change their views about the working press in retirement. In a relaxed radio interview Friday on WMVP-AM’s “Waddle & Silvy,” Cutler sounded like a man ready to move on from his days with the Bears — good advice for everyone in Chicago, from press row to Section 250. The football world’s surprise at the news mirrored Cutler’s when the opportunity first was presented. Cutler auditioning for a media job was like a vegan ordering a steak. “I was like, ‘There is no way in hell I’m doing this,'” Cutler said on the radio.)

SPRINGFIELD STATE JOURNAL REGISTER
— Want an Illinois budget? Adopt a revenue estimate! – Keith Wheeler (DIERSEN: What is your revenue estimate for the rest of your life?  For me, it is a $50,856/year Civil Service Retirement System pension and $2,028/year Social Security. In today’s dollars, those amounts will decrease dramatically because COLAs are far less than inflation. Things are going to get worse fast because the cost of living in Wheaton, in Milton Township, and in DuPage County is extremely high.)

— Secretary of State employee on administrative leave   (DIERSEN: Constructively, my Democrat GAO superiors have had me on reduced pay administrative leave since September 30, 1997.  So far, in today’s dollars, that has cost me $1,412,820 ($10,250/mo. salary minus $4,238 pension times 235 months equals $1,412,820).)

Because all the jobs that I held were BAD JOBS, it was extremely difficult for my superiors to find women who would take/keep those jobs.  My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always hinted/implied/argued/shouted a) that instead of me, the Post Office should have hired a woman in 1966, b) that the Post Office should gotten rid of me much sooner than it did so that a woman could have my job, c) that instead of me, IRS should have hired a woman in 1971, d) that instead of me, IRS should have promoted women in 1972, 1973, and 1974, e) that instead of me, GAO should have hired a woman in 1980, f) that instead of me, GAO should have promoted a woman in 1986, and g) that GAO should have gotten rid of me much sooner than it did so that woman could have my job and my preferred corner office.)
