(FROM THE ARTICLE: Larsen said he would be “shocked” if the board rejects the 3% tax on sales in municipalities. “I would expect everyone to support that,” he said. “We might as well get the revenue from it if we’re going to be dealing with the consequences of it.” Larsen said DuPage is expected to have increased law enforcement costs and other expenses as a result of the state legalizing recreational marijuana. “This is the only place we can get revenue to help deal with those costs,” he said. Last month, State’s Attorney Robert Berlin talked about issues other states faced after legalizing marijuana. He pointed to statistics showing Colorado experienced increases in property crime and violent crime. There also was an increase in the number of traffic fatalities with drivers testing positive for marijuana. County health department officials, meanwhile, said the availability of recreational marijuana is expected to increase use among adults and youths and hurt the health of residents. As a result, they are anticipating increased demand for public health services in DuPage.)

HARVARD BUSINESS REVIEW
— Why Your Company Needs to Implement Pay Equity Audits Now – Robert Sheen (DIERSEN: If a pay equity audit of the federal government was done, it would show that it pays its employees who are Democrat, minority, female, and/or younger more than it pays its employees who are Republican, White, male, and/or older who have comparable work experience, education, and/or professional certifications and licenses. While I worked for GAO 1980-1997, GAO always paid its employees who are Democrat, minority, female, and/or younger more than it paid its employees who are Republican, White, male, and/or older who had comparable work experience, education, and/or professional certifications and licenses. GAO audits IRS. When GAO hired me in 1980, I had almost 9 years experience working for IRS, the last 5 1/2 years of which at the GS-12 Step 1-5 levels, currently $82,579-$93,592. I had passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979. I had earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976. I had almost completed the requirements for a master’s degree from DePaul. Much of what I did for IRS, including interviewing, data gathering, summary, and analysis, report writing, and making recommendations was similar to what I would be doing for GAO. NEVERTHELESS, the Democrats who ran GAO required me to take a $19,568 pay cut in today’s dollars (a downgrade from GS-12 Step 5 to GS-9 Step 10) to transfer. They would NOT have done that if I had been a Democrat, minority, and/or female.)

FED SMITH
— Presidential Power Versus Employees’ Constitutional Rights: Interpreting the Executive Orders Affecting Federal Workers – Mathew B. Tully, Esq. (DIERSEN: Constructively, federal employees who are Republican, White, male, and/or non-veteran are deemed to be “poor performers” if they do not make GS-13 (currently $98,198) by age 25, GS-14 (currently $116,040) by age 30, GS-15 (currently $136,495) by age 35, and Senior Executive Service (currently $165,500) by age 40. Extremely few federal employees make the aforesaid promotion deadlines.)
https://www.fedsmith.com/2019/10/21/presidential-power-versus-employees-constitutional-rights-interpreting-executive-orders-affecting-federal-workers/

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Terminating Employees Deemed “Poor Performers” First off, there is a smaller timeframe in which to improve poor performance. The executive order to streamline removal procedures for federal employees decreases the amount of time that employees are subject to Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs)—that provide employees a chance to improve their job performance following a poor evaluation or reprimand—to 30 days, government-wide. That window previously lasted between 60 and 120 days and was up to agency discretion as to the length of the PIP and/or extensions of the PIP. Federal employees should be aware of additional provisions in the executive order, which direct that:)
