— NIU total fall enrollment dips, freshmen numbers decline while university touts increased diversity. NIU’s undergraduate student population most diverse they’ve ever been. – Kelsey Rettke (COMMENT: Democrats run NIU. In 1969, when I was a 20 year old Republican UIC student living with his parents in Crete, NIU accepted me as a transfer student. If I was a 20 year old Republican UIC student today living with his parents in Crete, because of my terrible demographics, I doubt that NIU would accept me. I share far too many demographics with Trump. Trump is heterosexual, conservative, Republican, White, male, non-poor, non-veteran, gun-owner, Protestant, German American, and his ancestors have been in America for a long time. To reject me, NIU could use that I only just barely made it into the upper 20% of my high school class, that my ACT score was only 24, and that my UIC GPA was not that great. I spent far too much time working for the Park Forest Post Office instead of studying. I skipped far too many classes on Mondays and Fridays to work more hours. One could argue that in 1969, my avoiding the draft with student deferments, that my being a federal employee, and that my being a union member encouraged NIU to accept me.)
(FROM THE ARTICLE: For the first time in NIU’s history, students who identify as Latino represent 25% of the total undergraduate population, according to NIU. Black or African American students make up the highest percentage of students in the incoming freshman class, and fall enrollment for international students surpassed 1,000 for the first time since 2016, according to the university. . .According to enrollment data that counts students after 10 days of classes in the fall semester, the largest demographic of the new Class of 2027 freshman class identify as Black or African American, at 35%. Incoming freshmen also include 29% white, 29% Hispanic or Latino and 5% Asian, data shows.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The AIM HIGH Huskie Pledge program, funded by the state, ensured 866 qualifying in-state students from lower-income households could attend college with no out-of-pocket expenses for their first year, and potentially beyond. . .In addition to academic notoriety, for the first time in NIU’s history, Latinx students represent 25% of the total undergraduate population. With this achievement, the institution is on a trajectory to be designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution – opening the University to increased funding. Also with incoming students, 57% will be first-generation college students and 70% are students of color.)

— Mark Shaw, a long-standing Illinois GOP leader, is joining Donald Trump’s presidential campaign as a political adviser. Shaw, who backed Trump in 2016 and 2020, says he supports him for 2024 “because I believe his straight-forward policies as president were, and are, in the best interest of the United States.” His bio: Shaw, an attorney, has served as Illinois Republican Party vice chair since 2021, and before that as state GOP co-chair, Republican County Chairman’s president and Lake County Republican chair. His appointment raised eyebrows among some members of the GOP’s right flank, which views Shaw as not being conservative enough for Trump’s team. That’s ironic, since establishment Republicans view Shaw as far right. Shaw’s take: It’s a lot like negotiating a legal settlement. “If neither side is happy,” he said, “you must be doing something right.” (Journalists say the same thing, Mr. Shaw.) – SHIA KAPOS

To attack me, my critics/opponents have seized on each and every loss that Republican candidates on ballots in my precinct have suffered since 2000. I should write a book about that. With the money that I earned, I bought a new 1966 Pontiac Tempest Sprint in May of 1966.
— To get a fair trial, you need to get a jury of your peers. Trump cannot get a fair trial because hate-filled Trump-hating Trump-haters have had far too much success in getting Trump’s peers, that is, those who share his demographics, to hate him. Trump is heterosexual, conservative, Republican, White, male, older, non-poor, married, non-veteran, gun-owner, Protestant, German American, and his ancestors have been in America for a long time. I share all of the aforesaid demographics with Trump. I should write a book about those a) who have lots of religious, government, political, and/or financial clout in Wheaton, Milton Township, DuPage County, and Illinois, b) who hate Trump the most, c) who they themselves share the most demographics with Trump, and d) who have taken the most/biggest adverse actions against me since 2015.
— Do not anticipate/expect that illegals will embrace American culture because the Democrats who brought them to America hate the American culture. — Wheaton College study on race: “We cannot be healed and cannot be reconciled unless and until we repent” – John Fea (COMMENT: When my wife and I got married in 1978, we bought a home in Wheaton. In 1984, we had a home built in Wheaton. I am Republican, Protestant, and German American. I should write a book about my Democrat IRS and GAO superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates who demonized, denigrated, and condemned Wheaton the most as being full of Republicans, Protestants, and German Americans who were White supremacists, Nazis, KKK members, haters, racists, sexists, bigots, and even worse things who should be gotten rid of once and for all.)
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Some findings:
1. The report is thorough, covering the period from 1860 to 2000. It is well done.
2. Wheaton and former University of Washington historian Tracy McKenzie served on the committee. As far as I can tell, he was the only historian.
3. The report acknowledges that Wheaton College was founded on Potawatomi land.
4. Wheaton College extension campuses in Wisconsin (Ojibwe) and South Dakota (Lakota) were also owned by native Americans.
5. Wheaton College was founded in 1853 by abolitionists. Its first president, Jonathan Blanchard, “brought impeccable credentials” to the school.
6. Students of color graduated from Wheaton under Blanchard’s presidency.
7. Following the passing of the 13th Amendment ending slavery in the United States, Jonathan Blanchard “never matched his earlier zeal for the abolition of slavery with a commensurate zeal for the promotion of racial equality.” Neither he nor his successor, his son Charles, promoted racial integration.
8. In the first 60 or so years, the number of Black students attending Wheaton “was rarely above two or three.”
9. After 1920, the campus “had become unwelcoming, if not openly hostile, to students of color.” There are documented cases in which white students refused to live with, or eat beside, Black students.
10. During the presidency of Oliver J. Buswell (1926 to 1940), Wheaton “quietly implemented an admissions practice that systematically precluded Black applicants from matriculating at Wheaton.”
11. During the presidency of V. Raymond Edman (1940-1965), Black students began to return to Wheaton.
12. During World War II, Wheaton received a “temporary influx” of Japanese and Japanese American students who would have otherwise been sent to Japanese internment camps.
13. In 1960, Edman “squashed” a report by the Anthropology and Sociology Department that rejected “a scientific basis for racial difference,” called on white evangelicals to repent of racial discrimination, and envisioned Wheaton as a leader on issues of racial reconciliation in the Christian college world. The report also called for the hiring of a Black faculty member and the lifting of unofficial restrictions on interracial dating and marriage.
14. In 1965, under the leadership of president Hudson Armerding (1965-1982), an NAACP chapter was formed at Wheaton.
15. The college was “divided on the merits of the Civil Rights Movement’s recognized leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.”
16. Many college alumni were outraged in 1968 when Armerding allowed Wheaton’s Edman Chapel to be used for an ecumenical memorial service honoring the recently assassinated Martin Luther King. But “while trying to respond to growing demands on campus for greater attention to issues of racial justice,” Armerding “was also determined to reassure suspicious College constituents who viewed aspects of civil rights activism as incompatible with Christian orthodoxy.”
17. During the 1980s, Wheaton created programs to attract poor and minority students, established an office of minority affairs, and formed ethnicity-specific student groups. At the same time, it struggled to diversify its faculty.)
