CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Durbin says Democrats’ minority status a consideration as he mulls 2026 reelection bid (COMMENT: Who do you want to run for U.S. Senate in 2026? In 2003, all five of the announced Republican U.S. Senate candidates (John Cox, Chirinjeev Kathuria, Andrew McKenna, Jim Oberweis, and Jack Ryan) attended a picnic that I organized in the Prairie Path Park in my precinct. More than 200 attended. Back then, I was the GOPUSA Illinois Editor, the Milton Township Republican Organization (MTRO) webmaster, and an officer of TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois, Illinois Center Right Coalition, and American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter. I organized a major MTRO straw poll later in 2003 that Ryan won. The Illinois GOP Establishment wanted McKenna to win the primary and blamed me for Ryan winning it instead. Previously, the Illinois GOP Establishment blamed me for Jim Ryan’s loss to Blagojevich. Also, later in 2003, and in 2004, I organized Wheaton’s 9/11 ceremonies. I should write about the Illinois GOP Establishment. )

— Ready to vote again? Campaigns set to begin for local elections. (COMMENT: Since 2000, my critics/opponents have advised candidates on ballots in my precinct to not seek my help to get elected. According to them, I am “too conservative” and even worse things. Since 2015, they have demonized me, denigrated me, and condemned me as being a Trump supporter. I should write about my critics/opponents. I would focus on those who have taken the most/biggest adverse actions against me.)

https://mailchi.mp/wirepoints.org/noshotspotter-13564591?e=19fa91a7b3
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Americans demanded change last week. Whether they were voting for Trump or against Harris, their rationale didn’t matter. Less government interference won. So did free speech, border control, law and order, and anti-DEI policies. The change that shook the nation was visible even in Illinois, perhaps one of the country’s most hostile media and political environments for Trump. Not only did Trump shrink the Dem margin of victory this year to nine percentage points – from 17 points in 2020 and 25 points in 2008 – he also performed better in both Chicago and the suburbs. Illinoisans’ support for Trump grew even as the media and political attacks on him, led notably by Gov. J.B. Pritzker, increased in intensity.  So with 45% of Illinois going for Trump – and Latinos and blacks and virtually every demographic breaking towards him – you would have thought Gov. Pritzker would be chastened, or at least sufficiently introspective enough to temper his comments until the dust settles.)
