— Young voters overwhelmingly backed Democrats this year. The question is whether they’ll stay. DD: To get more votes from young voters, and especially from young Democrats who are minority and/or female, Democrats have always given them preference. All my coworkers who my Democrat superiors in the federal government promoted over me were Democrats who were younger than me and were minority and/or female. They used against me my not earning an MBA until I was 27, my not passing the CPA examination until I was 29, my not earning a master’s degree in accounting until I was 31, and my not passing the Certified Internal Auditor examination and becoming a licensed CPA until I was 32.

— Democrat who dropped out of race over health wins anyway. DD: Beyond overwhelmingly, those who voted for Democrats in the November 3, 2026 election did so to punish Trump.
https://www.fox32chicago.com/news/democrat-who-dropped-out-race-over-health-wins-anyway-gop-opponent-says-we-deserve-know-more
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Democrat Eric Armstrong stepped down from his Iowa House District 20 race on Sept. 7 because of health issues, but still won the election two months later over Republican Keith Jones. Following the win, Armstrong announced on Facebook that he would carry the voters’ message to the Capitol in January, later telling The New York Times that while he still faces health challenges, he will do his best to represent the district. Jones questioned Armstrong’s fitness for office and the legitimacy of his health claims, alleging without proof that Armstrong might have used illness to conceal damaging personal background information and calling for a media investigation.)
— Melania Trump, LSU announce $5M scholarship fund for foster kids. DD: I should write about my Democrat GAO superiors and the big adverse actions that they took against me because my wife and I gave up trying to have children, we did not adopt, and we did not become foster parents. They would not have done that if I had been a Democrat, minority, female, or veteran.

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Chicago marchers take to streets with hope after blue wave. DD: Democrat leaders ever-increasingly make it clear that they will use their November 3, 2026 election wins a) to promote more dependency on government and charity, that is, welfare, LGBTQ, that is, destruction of traditional marriage and family, abortion, that is, disrespect for human life, mass/illegal immigration, that is, Democrat votes and cheap labor, booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, diminishment of Second Amendment rights, and Affirmative Action and DEI, that is, patronage, race and gender based preference giving, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, religious discrimination, and national origin discrimination and b) to get rid of Republicans once and for all starting with Republicans who are conservative, White, male, older, non-poor, heterosexual, married, gun owner, Protestant, German American, and/or have ancestors who have been in America for a long time.
https://www.chicagotribune.com/2026/11/07/the-people-have-spoken-rally-chicago/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A lengthy procession of demonstrators swept through the streets of downtown Chicago Saturday afternoon, with homemade signs and American flags held high, fluttering overhead. As the crowd marched East on Adams Street, drums and the group’s rallying cry echoed off the surrounding buildings: “This is what a blue wave looks like.” Saturday’s demonstration in the Loop, “The People Have Spoken” Rally and March, came just days after Democrats’ major wins in the midterm elections. On Tuesday night, Democrats regained control of both houses of the U.S. Congress. Some newly elected Democratic leaders took their wins in historically Republican districts across the country. In Illinois, Gov. JB Pritzker was re-elected for a third term, and Senator-elect Juliana Stratton’s win made the state the first to be represented in the U.S. Senate by two women of color at the same time. Before the march began, newly elected U.S. Rep.-elect Daniel Biss, of Illinois’s 9th Congressional District and former Evanston mayor, took to the microphone at Federal Plaza to encourage Chicago demonstrators not to let up the pressure. “The election was an incredible repudiation,” Biss said to the crowd. “You all did your job; now it’s time for people like me to do our jobs.”)
— Now that Democrats have even more power in Springfield, moderates must assert themselves. DD: By definition, if you vote for Democrats, you are liberal.
https://www.chicagotribune.com/2026/11/07/editorial-democrats-springfield-supermajority-blue-wave-progressives-moderates/
(FROM THE EDITORIAL: What’s larger than a supermajority? A super-duper-majority? In the state Senate, Democrats appear poised to claim 45 of 59 seats, up from 40 before Tuesday’s election. The House could see up to 85 Democrats once all the races are certified; currently the Dems hold 78 seats. The Republican Party’s already minuscule 40 seats in the House appears set to shrink to 33 seats. The rout was so complete that Senate Minority Leader John Curran, R-Downers Grove, will be the only Republican left from suburban Chicago in the upper chamber. Needless to say, near-zero representation in Chicago and its suburbs equals practical irrelevancy in Illinois politics. So who will play the role of keeping progressive overreach at bay in a state that already is overtaxed and overregulated?)

— Illinois GOP chair Grogan says better messaging needed to win back voters. DD: Political parties exist to help elect candidates who can and will defend and advance their platform. The Republican Party platform is conservative. My critics/opponents have always been extremely critical of my messaging. They blame me and they blame my GOPUSA ILLINOIS newsletters for all the defeats that Republican candidates on ballots in my precinct have suffered since 2000. According to them, I have always been too conservative because I have always promoted the personal responsibility, traditional marriage and family, right to life, immigration, anti-vice, Second Amendment, and equal opportunity (no race or gender based preference giving), and other planks in the Republican Party platform that they reject. They want the aforesaid planks to be officially stricken from the platform. They want me to stop sending out my newsletters. They demonize me, denigrate me, and condemn me as being a Trump supporter. Previously, they blamed Republican defeats on what I did as the TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois chairman 2005-2012 and as an Illinois Center Right Coalition Steering Committee member 2003-2007. While I was an IRS employee, I did not do any messaging. At the height of Watergate in 1974, I was a 25-year-old Republican non-veteran IRS employee. My superiors were Democrat veterans who hated Nixon and blamed Republicans like me for America losing the Vietnam War. They vehemently disapproved of my having avoided the Vietnam War draft. They took their anger out on me. They disallowed my travel vouchers in 1974. SEE: https://www.gao.gov/products/b-180010.11-0  They got rid of the IRS manage who had promoted me to GS-9 in 1972, GS-11 in 1973, and GS-12 1974. They ignored/dismissed/belittled my earning an MBA in 1976. They disallowed my education deductions in 1978. They ignored/dismissed/belittled my passing the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979. They made it ever-increasingly clear that they would never promote me to GS-13. That resulted in my transferring to GAO in 1980.
https://www.dailyherald.com/20261107/news/suburban-cocktail-party-language-illinois-gop-chair-says-better-messaging-needed-to-win-back-vote/
(FROM TH ARTICLE: Bob Grogan was only a 6-year-old kindergartner at the height of the 1974 Watergate midterm elections. But it’s the closest comparison the self-described student of history could find for the electoral defeat Republicans had up and down the ballot last week. By 1980, Ronald Reagan — a native son of Illinois — would ascend to the White House, and it was a new era for Republican politics. So Grogan — chairman of the Illinois Republican Party — remains hopeful of his party’s future. But he couldn’t help but use another comparison, of a metaphorical sort, in a state with a rich farming and agricultural heritage. “Sometimes you have to have a controlled burn — this was less controlled — to put nutrients back into the soil, so that we can grow again,” said the Downers Grove resident, a local CPA and one-time elected DuPage County auditor. Grogan was performing his first electoral post mortem six months into his tenure at the helm of a state party that has dealt with internal squabbling across geographies and ideologies amid continued losses at the ballot box. Democrats, who still hold every statewide elected office, expanded their supermajorities in both chambers of the General Assembly — even picking up seats in suburban and some downstate districts thought to be reliably Republican. After election results are certified and new people sworn in, few elected Republicans will remain on the county-level throughout what was once the ruby red suburbs: only three GOP board members in Kane County, two in Lake County and one in DuPage County. Republicans also lost their only remaining seat on the Cook County Board. “The suburbs are a challenge, but I’m born and bred in the suburbs, and we have to be competitive here, and I think that we can be competitive again,” Grogan said. How so? Grogan sees silver linings in many local referendum results, like in Lake County, where voters rejected a proposed 1% sales tax to fund schools 57% to 43%. It’s the same county where GOP gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey lost to Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker, 30% to 66%, respectively.) Grogan thinks Republican policies about lower taxes, the size of government and safer streets can be winning issues for the GOP in the suburbs, but acknowledged the message and messengers haven’t been. “Our policies are actually majority policies, and right now the voters punished our brand for some other reasons,” he said. “The voters sent a message that they were not happy with Republicans in general. It didn’t matter whether it was (DuPage County Board member) Brian Krajewski or (DuPage Treasurer) Gwen Henry. I think that maybe it was a rejection of our governing style, and that’s on a national level.” “If we were going to be successful, we had to localize that election, and the Democrats obviously tried to nationalize it,” he added. DuPage County GOP Chair Kevin Coyne called the blue wave a political “earthquake” in which lack of support for the war in Iran and other national issues made it hard for local Republicans up and down the ballot. He said President Donald Trump “became the race.” “It’s sad that our county treasurer and sheriff’s races are being determined by international and foreign issues, but clearly they are,” Coyne said. He called for Republicans to “shake off” the losses and stay engaged, noting the next election cycle is just months away. He said he doesn’t think the country’s values have changed, but believes the “political pendulum seemingly swings faster and faster every cycle.” “(DuPage) went from red to blue on a dime here and it can go the other way too,” Coyne said. Kane County GOP Chair Michelle Bettag said “one bad Election Day” wouldn’t deter local Republican organizers, who worked hard knocking on doors to get out the vote this election cycle. “Unfortunately, the hatred for someone goes a long way,” she said about local voters’ feelings about Trump. “(Democrats) were able to sway the independents better than we were.” Collin Corbett, the one-time Republican strategist and pollster from Palatine whose independent bid for governor garnered a little over 3% of the vote, called on both parties to “come back to reasonable and mainstream and be big tent parties.” Corbett — a fiscal conservative who supports abortion rights and IVF — now labels himself an independent who is “politically homeless.” “What does the Republican Party do?” Corbett said. “Do they only want a party full of people who think and look and talk like them, or do they want a party that’s going to have different ideas and perspectives that’s going to be able to represent a larger swath of the electorate and actually be competitive in elections again?” Grogan seemed to agree with the concept of a big tent Illinois GOP, and a coalition of conservatives and moderates that prioritizes gaining back power, “as opposed to just virtue signaling with just the base,” he said. But he doesn’t see the party’s problems as much about ideological fractures as it is the ability to communicate. A downstate conservative is perfectly able to win statewide office, Grogan believes, so long as the candidate can talk to suburban voters who may disagree about some issues. “What we need to be competitive on a statewide level is someone who can actually speak suburban cocktail party language,” Grogan said. “We have to communicate in the method in which people understand and get past our own talking points.”)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Gambling establishments with machines that can contain $25,000 to $80,000 each are a growing market for the technology, Egel said. With such assets on the premises, it costs a business only a couple thousand dollars more than they’ve already invested in security to get started with the fog system, he added. While such methods have been used in Europe for three decades, technology upgrades over the past few years have driven growing popularity in the U.S., Egel said. The pump-driven systems his company delivers have replaced pressurized canisters that had the potential to explode. Wax emphasized to Hoffman Estates trustees that the fog being used would be completely non-toxic and safe to breathe. But out of an abundance of caution, the village’s enabling law requires any food exposed to the fog to be thrown out and any eating surfaces and utensils to be fully cleaned before they can be used again.)

— What’s your message to Democrats as they prepare to take control of Congress? Here’s what you told us. Bring down gas and food prices, fix healthcare and end the war with Iran are among the asks some readers have. DD: Yes, but to vote for Democrats is to get more dependency on government and charity, LGBTQ, that is, the destruction of traditional marriage and family, abortion, that is, disrespect for human life, mass/illegal immigration, booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, diminishment of Second Amendment rights, and Affirmative Action and DEI, that is, patronage, race and gender based preference giving, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, religious discrimination, and national origin discrimination.
