— Chicago police supervisor retires while facing demotion – Tom Schuba (COMMENT: I should write a book about early retirement. I worked for the Democrats who ran GAO 1980-1997. I would have been eligible to take regular retirement in 2003 when I was 55. But in 1993, when I was 45, because of Republican-led budget cuts, I became eligible to take early retirement. In 1997, when I was 49, just before my eligibility to take early retirement expired, my Democrat GAO superiors succeed in forcing me to take their early retirement “offer.” They would not have done that if I had not become an active member in a class action lawsuit in 1988 that charged them with reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation. They would not have done that if I had not complained about political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, and age discrimination. They would not have done that if I had been a Democrat, minority, female, and/or veteran. But according to my critics/opponents, I was forced to take early retirement because I was a BAD PERSON and continue to be a BAD PERSON if not a White supremist, Nazi, KKK member, hater, racist, sexist, bigot, and/or even worse things. They hint/imply/argue/shout that I must be an extremely BAD PERSON because I was forced to retire in 1997 when I was 49 even though I had a) became a Certified Forensic Accountant in 1997, Financial Services Auditor in 1996, Government Financial Manager in 1994, Fraud Examiner in 1990, Internal Auditor in 1981, and Public Accountant in 1979, b) became a licensed CPA in 1981, c) earned a master’s degrees in finance from IIT in 1997, accounting from DePaul in 1980, and business from Loyola in 1976, and d) gotten promoted by GAO in 1986 and by IRS in 1974, 1973, and 1972. I should write a book about my critics/opponents. Better yet, I should sue them.)

But nevertheless, as Money Magazine pointed out in its 4-page February 1978 article on my wife and I, we could afford to buy a home in Wheaton ( ) because of our salaries and my wife’s savings. I had worked for IRS for 7 years and my wife had worked for the U.S. League of Savings Institutions for 8 years. In today’s dollars, my IRS salary was $101,507/year. My mother never attended high school.
(FROM THE ARTICLE: As of 2021, about 23.2% of households in Illinois speak a language other than English as a primary shared language, according to Data USA. Spanish, Polish and Chinese topped the list as the three languages most commonly spoken in the state.
