I say that because I passed the CPA examination in my first attempt. But I did not do that until I was 30 years old, and by then, the accounting profession saw me as being much too old to have a successful career in accounting. The accounting profession would not have done that if I had been a minority, female, and/or veteran. But nevertheless, my critics/opponents would stress that the Illinois CPA Society would never have selected me for its internship program. My ACT score was only 24. I only just barely made it into the upper 20% of my high school class. Further, they would stress that while I passed all four parts of the examination on my first attempt, my scores on the parts were not that high.

Orice Williams Brown, a longtime GAO employee, is stepping in to lead the more than 3,000-person agency in an acting capacity as Congress searches for a sober and judicious nominee to serve the 15-year term. If approved by the Senate, the new comptroller general would oversee the agency as it investigates whether the Trump administration illegally withheld billions of dollars in 2025. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told the outlet that lawmakers will be looking for “someone who’s honest.” “I think it would be a mistake to get somebody who’s been real active in political processes,” Paul said.
