CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Stevenson High School political event draws ire of Lake County GOP: ‘I’m disappointed we weren’t extended (an invitation)’ – KARIE ANGELL LUC

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The event had a distinct pro-Democrat, anti-Donald Trump feel, something that did not sit well with the chairman of the Lake County Republican Party. Signage and posters around the room were pro-Democratic. An anti-Trump poster was seen near the speaker’s podium. Some who spoke during the event dramatically called for an end to the Trump era. County GOP Chairman Mark Shaw said he was “taken back” when he heard about the event via email blast. “Generally, I’m disappointed we weren’t extended (an invitation),” he said. ”Frankly, my assessment of Stevenson High School is that they have basically decided to support liberal causes, and they aren’t interested in hearing different viewpoints. “I’m extremely disappointed given the amount of money that taxpayers pay to support Stevenson High School,” he added. “I do worry about the future of education.” . . . On Saturday, there was no evidence of Republican activism at the event. “Republicans generally don’t try to cause a scene,” Shaw said. However, he added, “Republicans believe in free speech.”)
