CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
— Clearing 800,000 Illinois people of convictions makes sense if pot is legalized Senate Bill 7 would undertake tangible steps towards achieving racial equity, justice and opportunity in Illinois. – DeAngelo Bester (DIERSEN: To smoke pot is to shout that you disrespect the rule of law. Further, to smoke pot is to make yourself impaired. Further, to smoke pot is to put yourself on track to be a ward of the state.)

But they might have saved the lives of five people in Aurora on Feb. 15, 2019.”

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Chicago’s largest homeless shelter accused of discriminating against people with disabilities, but faces little oversight because it’s a church – Anna Kim (DIERSEN: What do churches and their members think of you? My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes in Wheaton hint/imply/argue/shout that that churches in Wheaton, and especially the churches that they are a member of, have such an extremely low opinion of me and that they do not want me a) to become a member, b) to attend services, or c) to give them money. My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes stress that I am a Trump supporter, Protestant (baptized, raised, and confirmed as a Missouri Synod Lutheran), conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, old (70), non-poor, gun owner, 100% German American, federal employee for almost 30 years, federal retiree for almost 22 years, union member for almost 12 years, draft avoider, my ancestors have been in America since 1844, and other such negatives. They stress that I oppose promotion of dependency on government, dependency on charity, LGBTQ activity, abortion, mass/illegal immigration, abolition of the First and Second Amendments, booze, gambling, pot, and other vices, patronage, political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, age discrimination, and retaliation.)

— DIERSEN HEADLINE: A Trump-hater says “President Trump an easy target for mockery.” Ever-increasingly, Trump-haters mock those who share Trump’s demographics. What demographics to you share with Trump? He and I are Protestant (I was baptized, raised, and confirmed as a Missouri Synod Lutheran.), conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, old (I am 70.), married, healthy, homeowners, non-poor, gun owners, German Americans, draft avoiders, and our ancestors have been in America for a long time. While Trump is a federal employee, I was a federal employee for almost 30 years and I have been a federal retiree for almost 22 years. Both Trump and I have been the subject of Money Magazine articles, albeit me only once in its February 1978 issue.

AMERICAN PROSPECT
— Pelosi Must Not Run Congress Like Trump Ran His Businesses Congress doesn’t have the resources right now to take on Trump, and Democrats aren’t fighting to acquire them. – DANIEL SCHUMAN (FROM THE ARTICLE: Congress is a shadow of itself. What this means in terms of personnel, for example, is House committee staff fell by one-third from 1994 to 2016, from 1,947 people to 1,298. Government Accountability Office staff fell by one-third, from 4,572 to 2,989.)
https://prospect.org/article/pelosi-must-not-run-congress-trump-ran-his-businesses
(FROM THE ARTICLE: A quarter-century ago, Newt Gingrich set out to destroy Congress as a force for progress, slashing the House’s funding by 14 percent and eviscerating its support agencies, like the Office of Technology Assessment, which drafted reports on emerging scientific and technological issues. In the last decade, House Republicans literally decimated funding for the House. Overall funding for the legislative branch is down by $370 million in constant dollars over the last decade alone, and funding for committees over that time has dropped by 22 percent—from $432 million to $329 million in constant dollars. Congress is a shadow of itself. What this means in terms of personnel, for example, is House committee staff fell by one-third from 1994 to 2016, from 1,947 people to 1,298. Government Accountability Office staff fell by one-third, from 4,572 to 2,989; and the Congressional Research Service fell by one-quarter, from 835 to 609. This is colloquially known as the lobotomization of Congress. The average expertise of and resources available to the rump of remaining staff have dropped precipitously, and few in power have any real experience governing. As if you couldn’t tell. To sum up, Congress is in no shape to take on Trump.)
