ILLINOIS REVIEW
— BRINKMAN: THE RISE AND DECLINE OF ILLINOIS’ ONCE-DEPENDABLE DUPAGE REPUBLICAN PARTY
https://www.illinoisreview.com/illinoisreview/2018/11/the-rise-and-decline-of-the-dupage-republican-party.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: When James “Pate” Philip left as DuPage party chair in 2003 he left it with half a million dollars. Without their long time leader the DuPage GOP quickly fragmented into the nine individual township organizations who learned to fend for themselves. The money quickly dwindled and was never replenished. Neither were these organizations created equal in their ability or resources to fend for themselves. The lasting coup of the 2010 redistricting map is that it took those districts that followed GOP organizational lines and smashed them up. Local Republican organizations long used to having one representative and one senator now suddenly had five or six in some cases. To be required to focus on too much is to focus on nothing at all. This has undone local efforts to bolster candidates. Tea Parties admirably tried to pick up some of this slack as have larger more well-heeled groups like that of Dan Proft. Tactical victories partially explain the decline, but not the broader trends. While the township organizations helped slow the decline they were not the essential force in DuPage’s rise to preeminence. How then was the county so effective at its peak? Was it all just demographics as some would argue, or purely leadership? Surely both played a role, however one feature absent over the decline of the DuPage party was its massive and systematic outreach during its peak. The county GOP sent a quarterly newsletter to each and every voter. A substantial portion of what was raised every year and at massive events (like the one where Nancy Louise met Pate) went to their distribution. These efforts helped to educate all voters and especially newer ones to see why conservative governance was essential first at the local level, then at the state level. Before they knew it, they had become reliable Republican voters!)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Though he criticized Democrats, Rauner also said his own party needs to take a look at itself post-election. When asked who should lead the Illinois Republican Party, Rauner did not give a direct answer. “Well, we have a chairman, Tim Schneider and a co-chairman,” Rauner said, referring to the newly ousted Cook County Commissioner, whom he handpicked to lead the party, and conservative Lake County GOP Chairman Mark Shaw, who led a quasi-coup of the party leadership in May. “We have some wonderful elected officials who are Republicans,” the governor continued. “We have major donors and funders who are proud Republicans and I think it’s going to be an appropriate process for the Republican party to do some reflection and some discussion about where we go as a party and where we go as a state and lay out a vision for the future. Clearly, changes are needed. Clearly, improvements are needed.”)

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/white-house/federal-workers-warned-advocating-trump-impeachment-not-allowed-until-second-term

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The memo was highlighted by the group American Oversight, which is calling on the OSC to rescind the guidance. “With the Trump administration already corruptly trying to root out the ‘deep state,’ the OSC should not empower Trump appointees to target people who ‘resist’ administration policies like family separation,” the advocacy group said in a statement.)

— The Religion of Leftism – Allie Stuckey
https://townhall.com/columnists/alliestuckey/2018/11/30/the-religion-of-leftism-n2536798
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Over the last decade, America has moved drastically to the left. Not only are more people on the left than ever before, the left is further left than it’s ever been. This radical brand of progressivism has come to be known as “leftism”—an extreme yet increasingly dominant segment of the political spectrum. At the same time, America has grown more secular. According to Pew, “religious nones” are rapidly growing in number. These “nones” are most concentrated among millennials: 36% of millennials are religiously unaffiliated. Millennials happen to also be America’s most politically progressive generation. This probably isn’t a coincidence, especially since the same trends have occurred in a similar way in other parts of the world, such as Europe. While correlation doesn’t prove causation, politics and religion are so closely related that it’s hard to believe the simultaneous popularization of extreme leftism and secularism is insignificant.)

NUMBERS USA
— Republicans in Congress Cut a Deal to Double H-2B Guest Workers
https://www.numbersusa.com/news/republicans-congress-cut-deal-double-h-2b-guest-workers

(FROM THE ARTICLE: NumbersUSA Director of Government Relations told Breitbart: I don’t ever recall seeing a formal agreement between Congressional staff and employers to draft legislation to increase employers’ access to cheap, foreign labor….Donald Trump won the White House by running on a pro-American-worker immigration message, but his party lost control of the House during the midterms by abandoning that message. This agreement is evidence that Republicans haven’t learned from their recent election losses.)

https://www.fedsmith.com/2018/11/30/federal-employees-warned-not-resist-trump-administration-duty/

(FROM THE ARTICLE: One agency that gained particular attention was the Environmental Protection Agency since it was the target of numerous budget cuts by the Trump administration. FOIA lawsuits were filed seeking evidence of the existence of a “deep state” within the EPA, and the agency even was conducting its own investigation into whether employees were sending encrypted text messages after news reports surfaced saying it was taking place within the agency.)
