September 12 Morning Edition

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— Government officials, political party leaders, and candidates should be required to issue press releases ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Press_release ). Ever-increasingly, instead of issuing press releases, government officials, political party leaders, and candidates issue “statements” to “preferred reporters.” I should write a book about the many times since 2000 that instead of issuing a press release, government officials, political party leaders, and candidates in Illinois have sent a “statement” to a “preferred reporter.” I am not a “preferred reporter” because I refuse to a) give preferential treatment to, b) glorify and praise, c) pander to, d) serve as an operative or dupe for, or e) give money to government officials, political party leaders, and candidates. Further, I should write a book about government officials, political party leaders, and candidates who since 2000 have refused to keep diersen@aol.com on their press release and press advisory lists, that is, who refuse to treat me as being a member of the news media. They do not want me to a) know about their events, b) promote their events, c) attend their events, d) ask questions at their events, or e) report on their events. I would focus on those who paint themselves as being religious, conservative, and/or Republican. I would focus on those who treat Rich Miller as being their “preferred reporter.” – Dave Diersen

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— Reporters and journalists who claim to be nonpartisan should be prohibited from a) giving preference to government officials, political party leaders, and candidates because of their political affiliation and b) spinning news to promote a political party’s platform. Ever-increasingly, reporters and journalists who claim to be nonpartisan give preference to Democrat government officials, to Democrat political party leaders, and to Democrat candidates. Ever-increasingly, they spin news to promote the Democrat Party platform. I should write a book about the many times since 2000 that reporters and journalists who claim to be nonpartisan a) have given preference to Democrat government officials, to Democrat political party leaders, and to Democrat candidates and b) have spun news to promote the Democrat Party platform. – Dave Diersen

GOPUSA ILLINOIS
— What demands have demonstrators made on your mayor? Mayors should be required to disclose in press releases a) the demands that have been made on them, b) who made those demands, and c) what they have done and/or will do to respond to those demands. What would your mayor do if/when Democrats demand that your mayor get rid of individuals, organizations, and companies that are law enforcement officers, Trump supporters, conservative, patriotic, Republican, American, White, male, older, heterosexual, married, non-poor, gun owners, Christian, Italian American, German American, draft avoiders, and/or those whose ancestors have been in America for a long time? – Dave Diersen

CHICAGO TRIBUNE
— Despite some heated moments between demonstrators, Labor Day pro-Trump rally in Highland Park a peaceful one: City officials – JAMES T. NORMAN (DIERSEN: What if someone tried to organize a pro-Trump rally in your municipality, in your township, or in your county? What permits would they be required to get? How many weeks or months in advance of the rally would the application for a permit have to be filed? What would the permit fees cost? What restrictions would have to be complied with? Would elected officials allow a pro-Trump rally? How many would attend a pro-Trump rally? Which of your local Republican candidates, elected officials, and party leaders would want to speak at a pro-Trump rally?)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Highland Park police estimated that more than 300 people attended a pro-President Donald Trump rally Monday that was, overall, peaceful despite moments of contention between counter-demonstrators who showed up. Much of the three-hour Labor Day rally, which took place at the intersection of Central and St. Johns avenues, included participation from a few local organizations and groups, city officials said. Also, there was a heavy police presence. City Manager Ghida Neukirch said the city had assistance from multiple police departments, including Lake Forest, Highwood, Metra and the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System. She said the police presence was comparable to that of an event that was held in June, where the city saw more than 2,000 individuals come out. “We just wanted to staff appropriately in the event there was conflict between the groups …. Really thanks to the law enforcement representatives, the organizers, the attendees,” Neukirch said. “Because everyone was able to come together and express their different viewpoints in a peaceful manner.”)

— Alderwoman’s question about Trump boat rally on Lake Springfield turns up heat as election nears – Brenden Moore (DIERSEN: If a Trump boat rally took place in your municipality, in your township, or in your county, which activists, candidates, elected officials, party leaders, etc. would a) oppose it and b) defend it?)
https://www.sj-r.com/news/20200911/alderwomanrsquos-question-about-trump-boat-rally-on-lake-springfield-turns-up-heat-as-election-nears
(FROM THE ARTICLE: DiCenso said she was enjoying a day at the lake with her son and niece when she noticed the parade of boats “hooting and hollering and tooting their horns and having a jolly old time on Lake Springfield,” which is city-owned property. DiCenso said she fielded several calls complaining about the parade. CWLP chief utility engineer Doug Brown told City Council members that a permit had not been requested, and Zerkle, though acknowledging that a “boat parade” was not something the city typically deals with, said it was likely allowed under the First Amendment. “Generally speaking, the courts are going to protect freedom of speech,” Zerkle said. “So, absent a public safety concern — boats too close, driving too fast, unsafe activities by way of jumping out of the boats into the water, things of that nature — there’s going to be a preference to support the First Amendment.” The question was asked and answered, and the discussion was seemingly over within five minutes. But, it turns out, it was only the beginning. On Thursday, DiCenso became the target of fierce criticism from Sangamon County Republican Party chairwoman Rosemarie Long, who was responding to information on a flier that’s been making the rounds on social media. The flier claimed that DiCenso, following Tuesday’s meeting, had described the boat parade as “horrid and unacceptable” and that she had plans to propose an ordinance that would prevent the displaying of political signs and flags on lake property. The flier has been distributed to various lake clubs and to lake lease owners. Long, speaking at the party’s committee call, said she was “getting goosebumps because I’m so mad” about the claims. “I cannot tell you how upsetting this is to me,” Long said. “What happened to freedom in this country, in this town, in this county when they just think about not letting you place your American flag in your yard?” But DiCenso flatly denied the claims made in the flier, saying they contained “completely made up statements.” She also said she has never proposed preventing political signs or flags from being displayed on lake property and has no plans to introduce such a plan.)
