— For Democrats, the federal government exists to hire, retain, and promote Democrats. Democrat leaders of federal agencies decry/despise/hate Republican-led budget cuts. First, they deal with those cuts by getting rid of any remaining Republican employees. Next, they get rid of their Democrat employees who are White, male, older, non-veteran, Protestant, German American, and/or have ancestors who have been in America for a long time. And last, their Democrat employees who are minority, female, younger, veteran, non-Protestant, non-German American, and/or have ancestors who have not been in America for a long time.
https://www.chicagobusiness.com/elevate/federal-downsizing-leaves-still-employed-workers-vulnerable
— Federal job cuts take a bite out of Chicago’s economy. According to my Democrat and RINO critics/opponents, federal jobs should be given to those who are minority, female, younger, and/or veteran. I am none of the aforesaid. The Democrats who ran GAO in 1980, IRS in 1971, the Post Office in 1966 hired me because they could not find a Democrat, minority, female, younger person, or veteran who would take the job. Because I refused to become a Democrat, they ever-increasingly did everything that they could to get rid of me. I would not have survived for almost 3 years as a postal employee if I had not taken job-related undergraduate business courses at UIC 1966-1968 and NIU in 1969. I would not have survived for almost 9 years as an IRS employee if I had not a) taken graduate evening business courses at Loyola 1972-1976 and accounting courses DePaul 1976-1980 and b) passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979. I would not have survived for almost 18 years as a GAO employee if I had not a earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976, b) earned a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul in 1980, c) passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt in 1981, d) became a licensed CPA in 1981, e) earned four more job-related professional certifications in 1990, 1994, 1996, and 1997, and f) earned a master’s degree in finance from IIT in 1997.
https://www.chicagobusiness.com/elevate/federal-jobs-cuts-ripple-through-chicago-region
(FROM THE ARTICLE: The federal government is the largest employer in the Chicago area, although at nearly 48,000 it’s a modest slice of a 5 million-strong area workforce. At the start of the year, the federal workforce nationwide was 3 million and 82,000 in Illinois. DOGE’s program is disproportionately stinging African American employees like Cherry. Of the federal workforce, 18.6% are Black, while Black people account for 13.7% of the U.S. population. And Black workers are an even bigger presence — 20% or more — at a number of departments including the Postal Service, Education Department, Department of Housing & Urban Development, Treasury Department and Department of Veterans Affairs — all of which have been hit with job cuts since President Donald Trump returned to the White House in January. The federal government is a significant employer of women of color, with Black women, Latinas and Asian women all having a greater presence in the federal workforce compared to the private sector, the National Women’s Law Center reports. “Federal employment is one of the few job sectors where Black women have had meaningful access to upward mobility,”  Juliana Stratton, lieutenant governor of Illinois, and Cherita Ellens, president and CEO of Women Employed, wrote recently in a Chicago Tribune commentary essay. With above-average pay and solid benefits, federal employment has provided a path to the middle class not just for Black workers but for women and other disadvantaged groups. The government’s commitment to equal opportunity dating to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 has made public service an attractive sector for career advancement that may be less accessible in the private sector. The Trump administration’s purge of offices that promote equal opportunity and diversity and inclusion has particularly affected the employment of Black Americans. “The federal government has played a unique role in the labor history of Black Americans,” economic researcher Joseph Dean wrote in a February report by the Washington, D.C., nonprofit National Community Reinvestment Coalition. “The decades-long progress made by Black federal employees is in serious danger of being upended in a fraction of time it took to build,” Dean wrote. “Federal employment opportunities provide substantial economic independence and stability for Black middle class Americans.”)

25 NEWS NOW
— Which Republicans are seeking statewide office in 2026? So far, hardly any. Politicians set to gather at State Fair this week, unofficially kicking off 2026 election season.
https://www.25newsnow.com/2025/08/11/which-republicans-are-seeking-statewide-office-2026-so-far-hardly-any/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: Thus far, just two lesser-known Republicans have expressed interest in challenging Pritzker in 2026. A similar group of lesser-known candidates is considering a U.S. Senate run, but there has been no news about anyone running for comptroller, treasurer or secretary of state. . .In the Senate race, four Republicans have filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission and are actively raising money. Former Illinois Republican Party Chair Don Tracy is reportedly considering running for either governor or Senate and is expected to make an announcement soon. Ted Dabrowski, the president of conservative research site Wirepoints, is also considering running for governor. . .Bob Fioretti, who has unsuccessfully run for several offices as a member of both parties, is reportedly circulating petitions to run for attorney general. But even as petition-gathering begins, no other candidates are publicly known to be interested in running for other statewide offices. Notable names, including U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood and former Illinois Republican National Committeeman Richard Porter have declined to run for governor or Senate.)
