The White House said in a statement the first couple would not attend in order to “allow the honorees to celebrate without any political distraction.” This comes after members of a presidential arts and humanities commission quit Friday to protest Trump in the wake of his Charlottesville remarks. The members – some Obama appointees – said in a statement, “Ignoring your hateful rhetoric would have made us complicit in your words and actions,” they wrote in a letter to Trump. “We took a patriotic oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” “…Supremacy, discrimination, and vitriol are not American values. Your values are not American values. We must be better than this. We are better than this. If this is not clear to you, then we call on you to resign your office, too.”)

CONSERVATIVE REVIEW
— These are the mainstream conservatives on CNN’s ‘hate group’ list  (DIERSEN: Sooner or later, if your group does not promote the Democrat Party platform, the Libertarian Party platform, and/or the Green Party platform, CNN and SPLC will call your group a “hate group.”)
https://www.conservativereview.com/articles/these-are-the-mainstream-conservatives-on-cnn-hate-group-list
(FROM THE ARTICLE: CNN has published a list of “hate groups” currently operating in the United States, relying on an extremely partisan analysis from the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). Several truly extremist groups populate the list, such as the Ku Klux Klan, New Black Panthers, Nation of Islam, and others. But along with the neo-Nazi and Islamic extremist groups on the list, the SPLC has lumped in as “hate groups” mainstream, well-known conservative individuals and organizations who merely speak out about the threat of radical Islam. Here are some that were included on the list. . .SPLC/CNN BIAS  Since its founding, the SPLC has displayed an overt left-wing bias in attempts to smear conservatives as hateful bigots. The organization often turns a blind eye to leftist extremist groups, such as Antifa and Occupy Wall Street, while continuing attempts to tarnish the reputation of mainstream conservative groups that are supported by millions of Americans. By using the SPLC’s extremely biased list, CNN continues to showcase its partisan bias in favor of left-wing elements.)

— DIERSEN HEADLINE: An anti-Trump says “The Test of Nazism That Trump Failed.” What is your national origin?  During the 1840s and 1850s, all my ancestors immigrated to northeast Illinois from what is now Germany.  Of course, needless-to-say, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always used that against me. In my defense, I stress that my grandfather on my father’s side fought the Germans during WWI, that my uncles on my mother’s side fought the Germans during WWII, and that my father would have fought the Germans during WWII if he had not been 4-F.  Further, according to http://dna.ancestry.com, my ancestry is 33% Europe West, 28% Scandinavia, 24% Great Britain, 11% Ireland, 2% Europe East, 1% Finland/Northwest Russia, and 1% Italy/Greece.)

— Cambridge University Press Removes Academic Articles on Chinese Site – IAN JOHNSONAU  (DIERSEN: Who tells you what to do and what not to do? My critics/opponents want me to stop putting GOPUSA ILLINOIS emails together and sending them out. But failing that, they want the following to tell me what to do and what not to do: a) those who dominate the Milton Township Republican Central Committee, DuPage County Republican Central Committee, and the Illinois Republican Party, b) those who dominate TAPROOT Republicans of Illinois, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Center Right Coalition, and American Association of Political Consultants Midwest Chapter, and c) those who dominate the Republicans who represent me in Wheaton, in Milton Township, in DuPage County, and in Illinois.)
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/18/world/asia/cambridge-university-press-academic-freedom.html
(FROM THE ARTICLE: One of the world’s oldest and most respected publishing houses, Cambridge University Press, has bowed to pressure from Beijing and removed sensitive content on its site in China. The content is published in China Quarterly, an academic journal run by the press. In a letter made public on social media on Friday, the editor of the journal, Tim Pringle, said Cambridge University Press had informed him that the authorities had ordered it to censor more than 300 articles related to issues like the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre, Tibet, Xinjiang, Hong Kong and the Cultural Revolution. The publishing house’s site risked being shut down if it did not comply with the request, the letter said. In response to the government’s actions, the journal issued a statement expressing its “deep concern and disappointment.” “We note, too, that this restriction of academic freedom is not an isolated move but a further reflection of policies that have narrowed the space for public engagement and discussion across Chinese society,” the statement said. Dr. Pringle said in a telephone interview that Chinese academics, who had been publishing in the journal in increasing numbers, would suffer the most. “It’s not only a retrograde step in principle, but it affects Chinese scholars in particular” he said, because they will not have access to global scholarship on the country.)

GOVERNMET EXECUTIVE
— Managing Your Career in the Trump Era – Stewart Liff  (DIERSEN: Democrats run the federal government. My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have always promoted patronage.
