https://www.chicagobusiness.com/nonprofits-philanthropy/ccb-candid-candace-gary-sinise-veterans-salute-20260717/
(FROM THE ARTICLE: More than 7,000 patriotic fans packed Cantigny Park in Wheaton on July 11 for actor Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band’s largest concert to date. Rockin’ For Our Vets: America 250 was a record-breaking benefit for the West Suburban Foundation for Disabled Veterans. The concert raised awareness and support for the nonprofit’s mission of serving disabled veterans and their families. Guests began arriving early, filling the sprawling Parade Field as military displays, interactive exhibits, food vendors and the First Division Museum welcomed families throughout the day. The century-old Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band added another stirring patriotic touch to the afternoon’s ceremonies. The festivities officially kicked off with an America 250 program featuring distinguished veterans and inspiring guest speakers before the evening’s musical performances. Among the evening’s special guests was Benjamin Patton, grandson of General George S. Patton and founder of the Patton Veterans Project. He shared his personal story and introduced a moving video about his family’s military legacy, which spans generations and dates back to the American Revolution. Vietnam War hero and former Secret Service agent Capt. William “Hawk” Albracht shared his remarkable journey as one of the most decorated veterans of the Vietnam War. Former Army POW Jessica Lynch, whose story drew the nation’s attention during the Iraq War, was just 19 years old in 2003 when she was captured after her convoy was ambushed and rescued by U.S. Special Operations. Country star HunterGirl (Hunter Wolkonowski), a fan favorite from “American Idol,” kicked off the evening at 6 p.m. with a high-energy performance that had the crowd on its feet and set the perfect tone for the night’s festivities. An hour later, the moment thousands had been waiting for arrived as Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band took the stage. Their signature blend of classic rock, country hits and patriotic favorites transformed Cantigny’s Parade Field into one giant celebration. Fans sang along, waved American flags and danced well into the evening as Sinise, who has spent decades supporting America’s military community, delivered a performance that celebrated service, sacrifice and patriotism as much as it did the music. Leading the effort behind the event were Michelle Senatore, co-founder and president of the West Suburban Foundation for Disabled Veterans; U.S. Navy veteran and volunteer Staci Boyer; and a dedicated team of volunteers. Through programs that provide financial assistance, housing and transportation support, service dogs, mental health services and other essential resources, the nonprofit has become a vital lifeline for disabled veterans and their families. The organization’s mission is to ensure that those who have sacrificed for our country receive the support they deserve long after their military service has ended. With another successful event in the books, the West Suburban Foundation for Disabled Veterans is already looking ahead. Planning has begun for the return of Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band to Cantigny in 2027, continuing what organizers hope will become one of the region’s signature annual tributes to veterans.)

— Career success. Measures of career success include salary, promotions, professional certifications, and professional licenses. According to my critics/opponents, my career working for IRS 1971-1980 and GAO 1980-1997 was an abject failure and they blame that on me. The Democrats who ran IRS hired me as a GS-7, currently $56,409/year, Revenue Officer when I was 22 in 1971 because I had earned a bachelor’s degree in business and passed the Federal Service Entrance Examination when I was 21. They promoted me to GS-9, currently $68,999/year, when I was 23, to GS-11, currently $83,482/year, when I was 24, and to GS-12, currently $100,059/year, when I was 25. Because they took adverse actions against me when I was 25 and 29 and made it clear that they would never promote me to GS-13, currently $118,984/year even though I had earned an MBA when II was 27 and passed the CPA examination on my first attempt when I was 30, I took a $23,699/year (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO when I was 31. The Democrats who ran GAO finally promoted me to GS-13 when I was 38 after I had earned a master’s degree in accounting when I was 31 and passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt and became a licensed CPA when I was 32. With step increases, my GS-13 salary increased to $154,684/year in today’s dollars when I was 49. After I transferred, I earned professional certifications when I was 32 (internal auditing), 41 (fraud examination), 45 (government financial management), 47 (financial services auditing), and 48 (forensic accounting) and a master’s degree (financial markets and trading) when I was 48. My superiors forced me to retire when I was 49 in 1997. My critics/opponents have always argued that because I had the aforesaid degrees, professional certifications, and professional license, I should have been promoted to GS-13 much faster than I was and then to GS-14, GS-15, and Senior Executive Service (SES), currently $197,200/year, before I was 40. They blame me for that. They ignore/dismiss/belittle the fact a) that my Democrat IRS superiors got rid of the IRS manager who had promoted me when I was 23, 23, and 25 and b) that my Democrat GAO superiors got rid of the GAO manager who had arranged my transfer from IRS to GAO and was finally able to assign me to audits of IRS and promote me. According to my critics/opponents, I am 100% responsible for my not getting promoted to GS-13 sooner, for my never being promoted beyond GS-13, and for my being forced to retire when I was 49. I agree with them, but absolutely not for the reasons that they hint/imply/argue/shout. They know full-well that Democrats believe that the federal government exists to hire, retain, and promote Democrats who are minority, female, younger, and/or veteran and that I am none of the aforesaid. They know full well that federal employees who are Republican, White, male, older, and/or non-veteran have no Civil Service protections. They know full-well that I would have made SES before I was 40 if I had been a Democrat, minority, female, and/or veteran, b) if I had not complained about their political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, and age discrimination, and c) if I had not officially became an active member in a class action lawsuit that charged my GAO superiors with the aforesaid when I was 40. – Dave Diersen

I should write about my many Democrat Post Office, IRS, and GAO superiors who were veterans and the many big adverse actions that they took against me. They used my avoiding the draft with deferments against me viciously. They blamed Republicans for America losing the Vietnam War. I have always asked myself if I had tried to enlist would I have been accepted. I was 1-A for the draft even though I could not run because I had an inherited bone disease, my eyesight could not be corrected to 20/20, and I had partial red/green color blindness. My critics/opponents have always used my aforesaid health problems against me. They have always stressed that if I had been accepted, I would not have been sent into combat and that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am a disgusting unmitigated hypocritical coward. According to my many Democrat superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates in the federal government who were veterans, if I had not avoided the draft, I would not have been able to a) buy new cars when I was 19, 20, 23, 25, 29, etc., b) earn a bachelor’s degree in management when I was 21, c) buy real estate when I was 24, 25, 27, 29, 35, etc. d) earn an MBA when I was 27, e) get married when I was 29, f) pass the CPA examination on my first attempt when I was 30, g) earn a master’s degree in accounting when I was 31, h) pass the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt when I was 32, or i) become a licensed CPA when I was 32.

— Disparate impact. DD: Those who passed tests and examinations with me were overwhelming White males. Democrats blame their problems on disparate impact. Hiring, retention, and promotion requirements have a disparate impact against Democrats who are minority, female, younger, and/or veteran. The Democrats who ran the Post Office in 1966, IRS in 1971, and GAO in 1980 hired me because they could not find a qualified Democrat who was minority, female, younger, or veteran who would take the job. I would not have survived as a federal employee for almost 30 years if I had not a) passed the postal employment test when I was 17 in 1966, b) passed the Federal Entrance Examination when I was 21, c) earned a bachelor’s degree in business when I was 21, d) earned an MBA when I was 27, e) passed the CPA examination on my first attempt when I was 30, f) earned a master’s degree in accounting when I was 31, g) passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt when I was 32, h) became a licensed CPA when I was 32, i) earned four more job-related professional certifications when I was 41, 45, 47, and 48, and j) earned a master’s degree in finance when I was 48. All of my coworkers who my Democrat superiors in the federal government promoted over me were Democrats who a) were minority, female, younger than me, and/or veteran and b) had less education than I had, had less work experience than I had, had no professional certification or fewer than I had, and/or had no professional license like the one I had. My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire when I was 49 in 1997 and gave my job and my preferred corner office to my Black subordinate. He had less education than I had. He had less work experience than I had. He had one professional certification while I had six. He had no professional license like the one I had. (FROM THE ARTICLE: The average federal employee salary is $112,456/year and has increased dramatically over the last decade and is more than 50% higher than the average salary reported in 2017. While annual pay raises have contributed to this growth, they are only part of the story. . .One reason average federal salaries are relatively high is that federal employees are older and generally more experienced than workers in the overall U.S. labor force. This distinction is important. According to OPM’s latest workforce data, the median age of federal civilian employees is 47 years old. By comparison, the median age of the overall U.S. labor force is about 42 years old. This means the federal workforce is generally older and more experienced than the workforce as a whole. Workers typically earn more as they gain experience, move into supervisory positions, and acquire specialized skills. An organization with a larger share of mid-career and senior employees will have a higher average salary than one that relies heavily on entry-level workers.)
