In 1971, I was one of the last Republicans who they hired. They offered me a job because I had earned a bachelor’s degree in management from NIU in 1970, because I had passed the Federal Service Entrance Examination in 1970, and because they could not find a qualified Democrat, minority, female, or veteran who would take the job. I accepted IRS’s job offer a) because Firestone Stores had rudely fired me because I had accepted a job offer from Oldsmobile, an offer that Oldsmobile subsequently withdrew saying that it had just agreed to stop hiring Whites to settle an EEOC complaint, b) because I was helping support my mother and brother because my father had died in 1969, and c) because I had worked for the Post Office for almost 3 years and I would get all my seniority and sick leave reinstated. To get rid of me, because I refused to become a Democrat and because I complained about political affiliation discrimination, reverse discrimination, and age discrimination, my Democrat IRS superiors disallowed my travel vouchers in 1974, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and never promoted me beyond GS-12 even though I earned an MBA from Loyola in 1976 and passed the CPA examination on my first attempt in 1979. They would not have taken the aforesaid adverse actions against me if I had been a Democrat, minority, female, or veteran. GREENBLATT AND CLARA HESS (COMMENT: While I worked for GAO’s Chicago office for almost 18 years 1980-1997, at least one of my superiors was always Jewish and often two. During my last 12 years, all of my superiors were Jewish. My Democrat GAO superiors stressed to them that I was conservative, Republican, Lutheran, 100% German American, a Crete resident 1948-1972, and a Wheaton resident since 1978. During those 18 years they took many adverse actions against me. They a) forced me to take a $21,863/year (21%) pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO, b) gave me bad job assignments and unfair performance expectations and evaluations. c) assigned me to work for, work with, and supervise their most problematic employees, d) turned my superiors, supervisors, coworkers, and subordinates against me, e) kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of those almost 18 years, f) delayed my promotions to GS-11, GS-12, and GS-13 and never promoted me to GS-14, g) always ranked me in the lower half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, and h) forced me to take their early retirement “offer” in 1997 when I was 49 years old. In my defense, I earned a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul in 1980. I passed the Certified Internal Auditor examination on my first attempt and became a licensed CPA in 1981. I became a Certified Fraud Examiner in 1990, Government Financial Manager in 1994, Financial Services Auditor in 1996, and Forensic Accountant in 1997. I earned a master’s degree in financial markets and trading from IIT in 1997. I should write a book about the aforesaid.)

I did not pass the CPA examination until I was 30. I did not earn a master’s degree in accounting from DePaul until I was 31. I did not pass the Certified Internal Auditor examination and become a licensed CPA until I was 32. In retrospect, with benefit of hindsight, I should have majored in accounting at UIC and NIU. I should have earned a master’s degree in accounting much sooner. I should have passed the CPA examination and become a licensed CPA much sooner.
