— It’s time to look away, look away, look away from ‘Dixie’ – Eric Zorn  (DIERSEN: Just kidding, but not completely. If I sought a government office or a political office, to paint me as being a racist, my critics/opponents, their operatives and their dupes would stress that my ancestors owned land on what was the Dixie Highway in Crete 1864-1966. My great great grandfather, my great grandfather, my grandfather, and my father all lived on what was Dixie Highway (Main Street) in Crete. I was born on what was Dixie Highway (St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights) and I lived on what was Dixie Highway (the northeast corner of Main and Exchange) in Crete 1948-1954. — HARDCOPY ARTICLE TITLE: Jobs Americans don’t want – Tracy Jan (DIERSEN: What jobs do/did you not want?  My critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes have made it very clear that they would never stoop to take the jobs that I did. I did yard work and delivered newspapers 1962-1964; washed dishes 1964-1966; cleaned golf shoes, chipped slag, and pumped gasoline in 1966; delivered mail 1966-1969; worked on an automobile assemble line and as a security guard in 1970; sold tires, automotive services, and major appliances 1970-1971; pumped gasoline 1971-1972; collected delinquent taxes 1971-1980; and audited federal agencies 1980-1997. Nevertheless, my critics/opponents, their operatives, and their dupes hint/imply/argue/shout that I was always grossly overpaid. In my defense, I earned a) a job-related bachelor’s degree when I was 21 in 1970 and job-related master’s degrees when I was 27, 31, and 48, b) job-related professional certifications when I was 30, 32, 41, 45, 47, and 48, and c) a job-related professional license when I was 32. BLOOMBERG
— House GOP’s Tax-Cut Hopes Ride on Deciding Who Is Middle Class – Anna Edgerton  (DIERSEN: Are you middle class? My Civil Service Retirement System pension is $50,856. My federal health, dental, and vision health subsidy is $17,288, but I have to pay $5,763 to get that subsidy. My Social Security is $2,028.)
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-10-13/house-gop-s-tax-cut-hopes-ride-on-deciding-who-is-middle-class
(FROM THE ARTICLE: For some GOP members of Congress, a middle income household tops out at $100,000 a year. For others, a family making $400,000 still deserves a break. . .But even Republicans from the same state can’t agree on the definition. “The middle class is whatever you want it to be in many ways,” said Jim Renacci, an Ohio Republican who sits on the Ways and Means Committee. “I think the middle class, is anywhere from zero to $80,000 to $100,000. That’s really the target zone.” For Warren Davidson, who represents the Ohio district on the outskirts of Cincinnati where the biggest company is AK Steel Corp., middle class families could be those making up to $250,000 a year. “I think for our district, people probably don’t start feeling like they’re middle class until they start earning $40,000 a year, and they probably still feel like they’re middle class up until about a quarter million a year,” Davidson said in an interview. . .The Pew Research Center, for example, classifies the middle class as households making between two-thirds and double the median household income — or between $42,500 and $125,000 for a family of three in 2014. Other definitions consider whether people have a college degree or even their job type. . .A study by the nonpartisan Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center found that most middle-income families would enjoy after-tax gains under the GOP framework, but that taxes would go up for almost 30 percent of people making $50,000 to $150,000. The study said it used brackets outlined in the House GOP tax blueprint released in 2016 — a methodology that Brady and others criticized. . .Representative Peter King said families in his New Jersey district can make as much as $400,000 and still feel like part of the middle class. While he suggested that he’d be open to considering a compromise on state and local tax deductions, he rejected the idea of a cap that kicks in at an annual income of $200,000.)

My Democrat GAO superiors forced me to retire in 1997 when I was 49 years old, always ranked me in the bottom half of my coworkers for pay-for-performance purposes, did not promote me beyond GS-13, kept me off audits of IRS for all but 3 of the almost 18 years that I worked for GAO, and forced me to take an $18,847 pay cut in today’s dollars to transfer from IRS to GAO in 1980.  My Democrat IRS superiors did not promote me beyond GS-12, disallowed my education deductions in 1978, and disallowed my partial day per diem claims in 1974.  My Democrat Post Office superiors forced me resign in 1969 and disallowed my sick leave requests in 1969 and 1968.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: The Defense Officer Personnel Management Act is one of the areas on which Spencer wants to focus. That act put into effect the military’s up or out system, which forces service members to promote to the next rank in a certain amount of time or be separated from the military. “If, in fact, we have excellent people in excellent positions, why shouldn’t we find a way to keep that gray matter, that institutional knowledge, that high performing person facing off against that issue and not be penalized that he or she is lost in his class on promotion?” Spencer said.  Letting sailors stay in a particular rank could let them keep doing what they actually love instead of forcing them into a leadership position. In some cases, pilots who want to only fly or sailors who like certain positions on a ship are forced to take on more responsibility as leaders instead of doing the task they joined the Navy to do.)
