GOP politicians called Rauner’s decision “political suicide.” One ally called him “Benedict Rauner” in a Facebook post. The governor agreed to be scratched from a southwest suburban GOP picnic. The youthful anti-abortion protesters who gathered at the Thompson Center called the governor’s decision to sign HB-40 a grave disappointment. David Cordaro is with the organization Students For Life. “Governor Rauner betrayed us. He betrayed the Republican party. And he betrayed the pro-life generation,” said Cordaro. He is not backing any specific candidates yet. But says the group will support primary challengers who oppose taxpayer funding of abortions. Add State Sen. Dan McConchie and Rep. Tom Morrison to the list of legislators who say they’ve told Gov. Rauner he’s finished politically. McConchie said Republican lawmakers tried to convince Rauner to veto the bill. “There is no way that I can in any further election going forward stand with Gov. Rauner after he lied in regards to this. After he told Cardinal (Blase Cupich) one thing and then did something else,” said McConchie. That is not leadership. That is not the courageous leadership that we need to have in our state.” They encouraged the youthful abortion opponents to find candidates who oppose taxpayer funded abortions and to work for them.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Despite his campaign rhetoric, Bruce Rauner may go down in history as one of Illinois’ most socially and culturally transformative governors. He’ll certainly be listed among the most effective for the Democrat, progressive left. On Thursday, Rauner signed into law the widely unpopular HB 40, which lifts the ban on taxpayer funding of elective abortions and codifies Illinois as a pro-abortion state regardless of what the U.S. Supreme Court may decide regarding Roe v. Wade. Not surprisingly, the ACLU is ecstatic and hailing Rauner as a hero of their ghoulish, “pro-choice” cause. They’re also dancing on the grave of the late Illinois Congressman Henry Hyde, who, 41 years ago today, passed the Hyde Amendment that banned taxpayer funding of abortion and saved approximately 2 million unborn lives. With the help of Gov. Rauner – who promised voters he had “no social agenda” – the ACLU sees Illinois as a harbinger of future victories across the country. (FROM THE ARTICLE: It’s an understatement to say that I was dumbfounded as to how I ended up on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) LGBTQ hate-list — I have never said or done anything to indicate hate for the LGBTQ community. When I called to inquire, SPLC informed me that I am guilty because I did a radio interview with Family Research Council Radio (FRC). I am a program coordinator for The Leadership Institute’s Campus Reform. org. The segment was about socialism, but because FRC holds traditional family values, I was labeled an LGBT-hater just for being a guest on the show. No LGBT topics even came-up. SPLC’s hate-list exemplifies a bullying tactic employed by the left to silence conservative ideas. Regardless of the issue, support for the conservative point of view results in a litany of hateful labels and reputation-smearing. The goal is to paint any opposition to the far left as morally depraved and, therefore, unworthy of being included in conversation. Dr. Carol Swain, an African-American woman and former Vanderbilt professor, is a perfect case-in-point; she was labeled a white supremacist sympathizer by the SPLC for pointing-out SPLC’s hypocrisy on racial issues. This tactic is more than illogical; it’s dangerous. Reckless and irresponsible hate-labeling not only stifles free speech and expression, it empowers and emboldens vicious groups and individuals to violently attack people. Consider the 2012 Family Research Council shooting, when a man walked into the organization’s office in Washington, D.C., with 100 rounds of ammunition and 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches. He planned to kill as many staff members as possible and smear the sandwiches in their faces. He said he chose his target based on SPLC’s Hate Map.)
